Follow The Money?

One of the best ways to see who expects to benefit from the passage of a ballot measure is to look at who is contributing money to promote its passage.

The Los Angeles Ethics Commission, however, does not post on-line the identities of people who contribute to ballot measure campaigns, nor the amount of their contributions. Hence, you cannot tell who is really behind the campaign for, say, Measure H, aka the "Welfare for Millionaire Developers Act."

I tried sending e-mail to the Commission to request on-line posting, but my missives bounced back, unread, undelivered -- unwanted? The implied message -- if I may work in a Nirvana reference befitting the graphic -- was "never mind."

Maybe you'll have better luck.

My crystal ball tells me the financial data will be interesting. . . .

Walter why don't you just file a public records? Isn't this how the Daily News got the info on the Prop R measure of all the special interest who donated to that ballot?
