Mayor Sam's Hotsheet for Tuesday

Jennifer Solis gives her take on President Bush's immigration speech. Though most talkradio hosts don't buy his sincerity, Jennifer notes that most commentary was favorable, attibuting this to the work of Bush's new Press Secretary, former Fox News anchor Tony Snow.

Walter Moore, on the other hand, was not convinced by Bush's speech.

Assembly Candidate Jonathan Levey is attacking traffic and plans to test four different modes of travel during rush hour on the 101. Martini Republic's Joe Mailander will be joining Levey and will surely have his observations of the experiment later in the day on MR's Angeleno Section.

The Los Angeles Unified School District has received a top honor for land use excellence, district officials announced today. The district was a winner of the Urban Land Institute's Award for Excellence: The America's Competition, according to district officials. The award is widely considered as the land use industry's most prestigious recognition program.

Mayor Villaraigosa will be in Washington, D.C. Tuesday with Rep. Lucille Roybal-Allard, D-Los Angeles, to lobby on behalf of the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce.

The Los Angeles Police Commission will meet today to consider whether or not police officers should moonlight as private investigators.
