First off Friday, Mayor Villaraigosa will announce a $6 million grant from the Wasserman Foundation to Green Dot Schools. Then, he will participate in a ceremony to mark the closing of the old Hollenbeck Police Station.

Later in the evening, AltaMed 200 Commitment to Family will present the Mayor with the Impact Award.

Does this guy get any work done, other than come out on tv. And to think he gave his aides a payraise for doing nothing. And here I am facing an increase in in my water and power bill to support an outrageous raise, a dwp choir, sparkletts water, and breastfeeding classes.

Antonio sadly has so many kiss asses around him no one has the guts to tell him he's the laughing stock of the nation. Every meeting I go to everyone makes fun of Antonio. He's in desperate need of therapy and feeling accepted and not so insecure. Not even A list actors are AS obsessed as he is.

Well, he's trying to do something now, and those of us who care about taxpayers are a little pissed off!

Villa La Grossa and his cheerleader buddy Tom LaBonge snuck a joint meeting of Budget and Finance and LaBonge's Arts Committee onto the docket for Monday to deal with the wildly expensive Zoo proposal to build an expanded elephant exhibit (12:55 p.m., Council Chambers).

This budget-buster proposal will cost anywhere from $38 to $50 million, figures that stick in the craw of just about everyone on the City Council. But Villa La Grossa and LaBonge appear hell-bent on trying to jam this turkey through the system. That's why they snuck a special meeting onto the schedule at the last minute, hoping the elephant activists wouldn't find out in time to turn out their troops.

But vigilant Council deputies got the word out on Friday afternoon. Now La Bonge and the Mayor's Deputy Chief Jimmy Blackman, who's been "masterminding" things behind the scenes, can expect a rude surprise come Monday. Not only can we expect there will be some aroused activists staring them down, but they may not have the votes to move the proposal to Council either.
