This old, dead Republican Mayor spent the evening enjoying dinner with a fine group of local citizens, and upon arriving home found internet access down within minutes. Luckily the morons at Adelphia just got it back up, so here's a consolidated Hot Sheet, Where's Antonio and Open Thread.First off, Jeffrey Anderson writing for the LA Weekly, reports that a wrongful termination lawsuit filed by former city prosecutor Lynn Magnandonovan was settled for $1.5 million. Not the kind of press Rocky Delgadillo wants in the middle of his uphill battle to beat Jerry Brown for the Democratic nomination for state Attorney General.
If that was bad enough for Rocky, in an article about Brown's candidacy in the Sacramento Bee, reporter Peter Schrag makes the statement, "Brown, who doesn't have strong opposition in the primary."
MWW Group (www.mww.com), one of the nation's top ten public relations firms, announced today the addition of John Musella as vice president in the firm’s Los Angeles office. Prior to joining MWW Group, he served as director of public relations at KB Home, a Fortune 500 company and one of America’s largest homebuilders.
Local LA fixture "Melrose" Larry Green is interviewed for Front Page Magazine on his contention that "the Clintons should be in prison."
Jennifer Solis takes on Mayor Villaraigosa and Cardinal Roger Mahony to task on the immigration issue in her latest Sister City article.
Now as to the Mayor, Thursday is a busy day for him. He'll meet with Madam Wu Yi, Vice Premier of China at Universal City. Then, its off to the Midnight Mission to thank a blue ribbon pannel on homelessness. Later that evening, he'll attend an Urban League awards dinner in Century City.

Mayor Sam's Sister City blog must be REALLY important if MWW Group is sending press releases of new staff.
Congratulations to the employee who had the guts to sue Rocky. I can't wait to see how his supporters blame Jerry Brown and Ace Smith for the verdict.

Every public official who does anything to shake up the status quo will get sued. When Rocky took office Deputies were known to show up in court in slippers.

It's too bad that city officials don't have to take any financial responsibility for their egregious mistakes. In any event, WAKE UP PEOPLE, this is what sort of representation you get from a guy that had only one year of actual legal experience before becoming City Attorney.

Folks can spin the Rocky-Lawsuits issue any number of ways depending on whether they love him or hate him. Fair enough.
BUT - when a major journo like Peter Schragg - writing for the paper of record of California state politics - who has been around Sacramento for decades - refers to Rocky as not being "strong opposition in the primary" to Brown - THAT has got to really hurt. I'm glad I'm not Rocky in this case.

Antonio has been seen more in city council since being mayor then when he was a councilman. Today he'll also be in skid row with board of supervisors announcing 10 year plan to end homelessness. Yeah Right!!

I'm mad about the money the keeps leaking out of our city treasury to pay Delgadillo's private attorenys and then to pay for the cases they lose. When will someone have the balls to investigate this.

The plaintiff, Magnandonovan, never insinuated that the judge let a child molester go free because the judge was gay. That was a lie perpetuated by Rocky and his ilk. She only criticized the judge for his (inappropriate) decision - and it was the judge who concluded she complained because he was gay. Shame on people for trying to slander her. The Orange County jury got it right.

Rocky made it in the real world before serving in government. What has Brown done besides suck on the tit of the taxpayer his whole career?
