Mayor Sam's Hotsheet for Tuesday
The Los Angeles Dodgers lost 11-10 in their home opener against the Atlanta Braves, but city residents may have been losers today. The day game, record crowd of 56,000 included - you guessed it - a number of fourth floor staffers who left work for the day. We know that at least senior staff for CD 8 and CD 10 bailed early. Others who didn't answer their phone we can't say for sure, but word around City Hall is they were root-root-rooting for the Dodgers.
Assembly Member Cindy Montanez gained a victory in her trek to receive the Democratic nomination for the 20th State Senate District seat being vacated by Richard Alarcon. She's received the endorsement of the California Teachers Association over her opponent, Council Member Alex Padilla.
Jennifer Solis has a story here on the blog about a school district that has banned the wearing of clothing that is considered "patriotic."
Deputy Ruben Gonzalez will be leaving City Controller Laura Chick's Office to take a position as Vice President of Harvey Englander's public affairs company. Gonzalez has been with Chick for four years as her liaison to the City Council and also handled policy issues.
In other endorsements, LA County Supervisoral Candidate David Hernandez has picked up the official nod of the The Animal Legislative Action Network. Hernandez will also be hosting the City of Angels Humanitarian Awards, April 30th in Encino.
The DWP wants to jack up our rates for water and power, now we know why. A Daily News report details all the great things the agency is spending millions of dollars on. Lactation programs (do women in the private sector get this?), fitness centers, a DWP musical choir and all kinds of nonsense. Lets hope calmer heads prevail at the City Council and this rate increase is flushed.
8:30AM - Housing, Community, and Economic Development Committee
10:00AM - Los Angeles City Council
10:30AM - Los Angeles County Supervisors
2:00PM - Information Technology and General Services Committee Meeting
2:00PM - Planning & Land Use Management Committee Meeting
3:30PM - Ad Hoc Renew LA - SPECIAL MEETING

You would think those losers called "city council members" would have learned. Last year they got slammed for doing the same damn thing. I want to know was THIS ON CITY TIME???? Where is the ethics commission on this? Add also that today they'll screw around having Antonio give a director an award, plus Fridays is a complete wash giving all those pay back presentations. ERIC YOU BETTER START ACTING LIKE A PREZ AND SHOW SOME LEADERSHIP. THEY WILL BE YOUR DOWNFALL>

GOOD FOR EAA. THEY STORMED CITY HALL AND ANTONIO CAN'T SEEM TO GIVE THAT CRASH PRESENTATION. ALL THE MEDIA IS THERE . I DON'T THINK CHANNEL 35 SHOULD HAVE TURNED DOWN THE SOUND. THAT IS CENSORSHIP. WE HAVE A RIGHT TO SEE AND HEAR WHAT'S GOING ON IN COUNCIL. THEY ARE ESCORTING THEM OUT OF COUNCIL. EAA SHOULD GO EVERYWHERE ANTONIO GOES.

HYPOCRITE OF THE YEAR NOMINATION FOR ANTONIO VILLARAIGOSA
I'd like to nominate the mayor based on the following passage from Time magazine's latest interview of him:
"TIME: How should the U.S. handle immigration?
"Villaraigosa: Our nation, as every nation around the world does, has every right to enforce our immigration laws and secure our borders. In a nation founded on the rule of law, the idea that you can just break the law without consequences is untenable in our democratic notions of justice."
Excuse me, Antonio, but your statement would be far more credible if you weren't aiding, abetting and encouraging a mass violation of our nation's immigration laws by making L.A. a sanctuary city ...

Not as funny as Cindy's college degree.
Notable Latino electeds without a college degree:
Richard Polanco
Gloria Molina
Larry Gonzalez (school board!)
Marty Martinez
Cindy Montanez (but her sister has a degree)
If you lack the discipline to finish school, you have no discipline to be a leader.

Hey 10:21 am knuckle dragger...
Where do you get that AV is supportive of violating immigration policy? If I remember, he's said all along that he's in support of McCain/Kennedy bill. I don't recall that bill mentioning that our borders are now open and we welcome all illegals.
I believe you mistake his opposition of Sensenbrenner (sorry if I mispelled)for a total absolution of immigration policy. That my friend is a logic jump as big as the grand canyon.

What a shock. Cindy has 0 degree and I figured she did. Why run for this office with no degree. My vote goes to a college grad.

More personal anonymous attacks by Cindy staffers.
Will you children please stop with attacking Jerry/his wife. Its getting really played out by anonymous pricks who don't have the balls to say anything to Jerry's face (or at least sign their name to it).
If anyone wishes to attack me, go ahead. I am not an Alex staffer, I don't work for anyone at City Hall, and my balls are larger than Higby's fat cells.

12:13 or better said "large balls" or couldit be gerry himself?
its just a game, play along or just get off the blog.

The story is lame. Like Ackley Padilla's leg.
Yes, the same Ackley Padilla being set up to run for CD 7 when Alex moves on. Yes, the same Ackley Padilla who attended.......what college? Never heard of it.
Yes all lame like his leg. The brother has a straighter nose than when he first started, but cant fix his brother's leg. That's lame.

Are you that dumb that you can't read where I write, "I am not an Alex staffer and I don't work at city hall".
I've never worked for Alex or for anyone that supports Alex. I'm just sick of children like you who try and go for personal/familial attacks on people who aren't even candidates and who don't post on this blog?

Everyone that controls money and endorsements, you would be wise to wait and talk to Padilla. You don't want to do what Alarcon is going to do, pull your early endorsement of Sindy and switch to Padilla. I would't be surprised if they cut a deal and Cindy pulls out, moves to LA, and runs for LA City Council. That would be her best move. She has been AWESOME on labor and progressive issues. I think she is great. I am a big fan, but she can't raise money, and she can't beat Padilla. She is too young and bright to want to get into a really nasty primary fight with Padilla, who trails only Hahn and Villariagosa in name ID. Its just not reality. You can be cute and point out fines, but thats garbage. Cindy has been fined too, big deal. Padilla is going to be big. Y'all would be smart to get on his good side soon. He will likely be a US Senator one day. I know, but you heard it here first from LaborThug.
Keep in mind, this all hinges on this Mayoral election. If Hahn loses, Padilla to the Senate. If Hahn wins, Padilla will stick around LA and run for Mayor.

Cindy does not have the experience. Just like JOse she thinks Antonio will help her cause let's just say they've had pillow talk. However, Antonio isn't looking good throughout the city with his flip flopping on illegals so this race will be a good. Agreed never ever ever never under estimate Mr. Padilla. He has a lot of support.

Maybe he should give some of that support to his bro Aucly, that leg looks like it hurts.
