BREAKING NEWS: Ludlow Out?**

We're hearing chatter including confirmation from a Sister City source who is almost never wrong that LA County Federation of Labor Secretary-General Martin Ludlow (and recent former Los Angeles City Councilman) is allegedly either resigning or being pushed out. We asked the County Fed for confirmation last night but no response yet. We tipped off Martini Republic last night who has published what we heard, along with some additional speculation.

If any of you have anything to contribute, please feel free to post or contact us directly.

UPDATE: The County Fed finally responds, almost 24 hours later. Mary Gutierrez, Comunications Director responds "Absolutely not," to our inquiry about Ludlow's departure. In the meantime, an investigation of labor leaders in a case tied to Ludlow's Council campaign continues.

It doesn't matter who runs the Fed, Labor remains strong in Los Angeles and a force to be reckoned with.

this is bullshit. he's dealing with the local 99 crap (which is SEIUs problem, not his), but i know for a fact he's not going anywhere. these are just rumors from candidates that failed to get the endorsement.

i won't name names, but their initials are alex padilla.

sour grapes make bitter wine.

For the record, all we/I said at Martini Republic was that "rumors were swirling regarding Martin Ludlow." We did not say what those rumors were. Indeed, we have heard more than one. In fact, we have heard two. But we haven't confirmed anything at all, nor have we even suggested what those rumors might be, only that they come on the heels of the McGreevey article and the trifecta investigation.

I want to know if this asshole who Antonio appointed as a neighborhood commissioner is on city time when he attends the police commission meeting. He goes and slams officers and threatens to burn down the city.

....I think that you understand the fact that there is a tremendous amount of paranoia and fear as it relates to Los Angeles Police Department actions," the Rev. Louis Logan, pastor of Bethel AME Church, told the panel.

Martin is not the man. He is very insecure and not that smart. He especially insecure about being short.

That's why Antonio hired him and loves him.

The Mayor looks really tall when he stands next to Martin...

Making fun of someone's height? Classy.

From what ive seen Ludlow seems like a good guy. I think Hahn set him up with the MTA thing that McGreevey wrote about last year.

Speaking of McGreevey, that guy hates all politicians.

Haters beware. You think CD14 politics are rough, you're fucking with labor now. You shouldn't have gone there.

Labor is full of folks who throw around the work "labor" as a scare tactic. It's been proven that labor can be beat (Hahn vs. Villaraigosa 01') so get off it. Labor ain't the end all, be all. And it's not that Martin is strong, he's not even a good leader. He's a good coordinator. Yeah he has a story that labor followers love to hear and re-tell but he hasn't been tested yet in an election as a leader. He's no Miguel Contreras, hell, he's not even Miguel from Menudo....LOL
