Young Dems Endorse Jerry Brown

The San Francisco Young Democrats (SFYD) today announced their endorsement of Jerry Brown for Attorney General following their vote at a Candidates Forum held at the State Building. According to an SFYD spokesperson, after hearing both candidates speak, more than 75% of the group’s members voted to endorse Jerry Brown.

Brown received a standing ovation following his remarks last week to the crowd of young Democrats. Asked about the endorsement, Brown said, “I’m proud to be endorsed by the men and women who represent the future of our party. This vote, by our future leaders, makes it pretty clear who the real future is. I pledge a hard hitting campaign.”

The Young Democrats join other Brown endorsers including: the California Police Chiefs Association, United Farm Workers of America AFL-CIO, California Nurses Association, and the President of the International Carpenters Union.

The San Francisco Young Democrats bring together a diverse group of hundreds of Bay Area Democrats aged 18-35 as a force and voice in local, state and national politics and policy.

Is this really news? Rocky has already effectively folded up the tent. He can't raise money. He ought to cut a deal and ask Brown to endorse him in 8 years.

Does anyone know why Bimbo, airhead Gloria Romero wants to have LAPD release officers names when involved in a shooting? Since when does she give a crap about what the city is doing. Antonio already stated he AGREES WITH THE POLICE COMMISSION now she comes out with her own b.s. about demanding LAPD names be released. Someone tell her to learn how to dress more professionally and stop jumping on the bandwagon. What has she done lately and what is her alterior motive?

Today's SJ Merc News:

Attorney general race
DELGADILLO RAISES FUNDS IN WASHINGTON: Rocky Delgadillo, the Los Angeles City Attorney who is running against Oakland Mayor Jerry Brown in the Democratic primary for state attorney general in June, took his underdog bid to Washington, D.C., last week for two days of fund raising and political meetings.

Brown, a former governor and presidential candidate, has a gigantic edge in name recognition and the backing of some of California's top Democrats, including House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and Sen. Dianne Feinstein, who officiated at his wedding last year. But Delgadillo is pounding away behind the scenes on his campaign, a la Hollywood's Rocky Balboa on the early morning streets of Philadelphia.

"It's pretty clear who the future is and who the past is," Delgadillo said, arguing Brown carries too much political baggage to win the general election this fall against likely Republican opponent Chuck Poochigian, a state senator from Fresno. Delgadillo told some Washington-based reporters for California newspapers last week that he also could help the Democratic gubernatorial candidate lure Latino support away from Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Delgadillo has snared some significant labor endorsements, most notably from the California Teachers Association. And Delgadillo has raised $3.1 million (his staff had no figures for last week's fund-raiser) -- enough to warrant a meeting in D.C. with media consultants Doak, Carrier, O'Donnell, Wilkinson, Goldman & Associates, the firm that produced campaign ads for Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaragoisa's successful race last year.

Delgadillo had about $2.4 million in the bank at the end of December, compared with Brown's $3.6 million, according to the most recent figures from the Secretary of State's office.

Brown couldn't even pass the bar. How can he be our Attorney General?

Couldn't pass the bar? Please. The big lie theory might have worked for the Nazis, but it ain't gonna work for Rocktardo.

Rockard's lies only blow up in his face. He told the Young Dems that he was the only candidate with legal experience. Brown set the record straight.

Not only is he a Yale-educated lawyer, but he clerked for the California Supreme Court and worked as a lawyer in Los Angeles. As Secretary of State he proved that President Nixon's lawyer had backdated a deed so Dick could get a big tax break. Brown also argued and won cases before the California Supreme Court. And he was, like, the Governor, um, or something. He blew Rockard "Slum Love" Delgadillo to smithereens.

As far as the Bar goes, records indicate that Edmund G. Brown, Jr. is in good standing. Rockard only passed after completing a rigorous voodoo ceremony and is still technically ineligible to hold his current office. ;)

Did Brown try to pass the bar five times like our mayor? Politics is nothing more than a wasteland of wanna be lawyers. Art Torres never passed the bar; Gil Cedillo never passed the bar; Rocky never tried a case...

Now that's called libel, son. Rocky passed the first time, easily.

Check with the State Bar next time you want to lie, you dumbass Brownie.

Ok, first of all, as someone who has actually taken the bar (and will be taking it a second time next week), let me just say, give these guys a break about not passing on the first try. Plenty of very good lawyers don't pass out here on the first try - it's not like we live in Passachuettes or something.

As for the race itself, I don't care much since it's still the primary - but I'll say this, as a Republican, I wouldn't rule out voting for Jerry over whoever our lamb, er, candidate is.

OK. If he/she wanted to lie, checking the facts via an objective entity would not be a productive endeavor, would it? The intent to lie presupposes a disregard for the truth ... right, counselor?

who cares about the bar - just like you can meet real idiots who have harvard degrees you can meet these same folk with bar passage on the first try - it's about real intelligence - and brown has it over delgadillo by some miles and counting

What's interesting is that no one's talking about the issues. Rocky has mismanged the City Attorney's office to death. He was a political hack appointee. That's his career.

Brown may have been a controversial Governor but few -- except the far left -- can complain about his management of Oakland city hall. He changed that city big time, for the better. He cleaned it up. He helped bring down crime. And he clearly would be a better AG than Rocky. (And you know Brown ain't just using it to run for Governor in 4 years/8 years.)

At 67 years old, Brown would be lucky to last 4 years. He should draw his state pension and move to Florida.

The Young Democrats are too young to remember how Governor Jerry Moonbeam (he was given that name by the Chairman of the Democratic Party, Chuck Manatt) literally ruined this state's economy and judiciary.

He appointed a little known, totally incompetant friend to be the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court (she was later removed by the People of California)and took a surging economy into the toilet.

He is a tinkerer and dilitante, and will play havoc once again with our legal system if he is Attorney General.

If Rocky doesn't beat him, Poochigian will. Jerry Brown has more garbage and baggage than Hillary Clinton, and that is saying a lot. The haters will beat his sorry ass.

The only place he could get elected is in an ultra-liberal place like Oakland or San Francisco. That's why he sold his house in LA and moved up North.

The man is evil and amoral.

Be careful what you wish for...

Phil,

Learn how to use a spell checker. You even spelled "incompetent" wrong, which is a bit ironic. Also, is it possible to be both evil and amoral at the same time? Just a philsophical question.
