Tookie Williams Reactions

If you were planning on breaking any news today, I would hold off until tomorrow, because you'll certainly be drowned out by this story today.

Today is "Tookie" Williams D-Day. My opinion? Look at this pic on Independent Sources. Lethal injection is getting off easy. Rant Away. We'll update once the Gov makes his decision...

As for the local pols weighing in, here is the overwhelming message...
STAY CALM. DON'T RIOT.

Ice Cube said it best "To get some respect we have to tear this motherfucker up". While sometimes true, this is NOT one of those times.
This nigga is a convicted killer! WTF? Najee Ali and those other fuckers need to recognize that this nigga killed some people. He knew this day was coming! In the words of that great negro poet, the late Richard Pryor, "fuck em!!"

Someone please give 8:37 anon a dictionary so he doesn't have to curse to get his message across.

A young African-American man shouted that Williams was a thug and a murderer who should die. This was no agitator or crank. He represented a body of pro-death penalty sentiment among blacks that has seldom been publicly heard during the great Tookie debate.

I was not surprised that there are many blacks such as this fellow who want Williams dead.

Black critics were especially bitter in reviling me. They were adamant that Williams must pay for his crimes and for the murder and mayhem the Crips gang, that he helped found, has unleashed on poor, black communities.

These hardened attitudes fly in the face of conventional wisdom that blacks are passionate opponents of the death penalty. They aren't.

Most African Americans, like white Americans, are not opposed to Tookie Williams being put to death. The few you will see on TV are a minority.

The lives of African Americans, perhaps above all other groups, have been most negatively affected by gangs. Seeing the founder, reformed or not, be punished for his past crimes is not a loss. Most believe that he is the wrong choice to rally behind for this cause.

Most gang bangers in South LA have no clue who is was til all this media frenzy. His Crips as of today are still killing innocent blacks, robbing, terrorizes. Tookie has never apologized or been remorseful and never denounced the CRIPS.

No, I do not think Gov. Schwarzenegger should grant clemency to convicted killer Stanley "Tookie" Williams. What about the rights of the four people he is convicted of killing? What about their families? Given his previous lifestyle, these four people were probably only the ones he was caught killing. I am sure there are others. ... The taxpayers have kept this thug alive for 24 years! That is 23 years too long in my opinion. In fact, it shouldn't be "death row," it should be "dead row." I'll even donate the $1 for the bullet!

That's just great. Let the co-founder and leader of a domestic terrorist group such as the Crips live. Right. He's already burned 18 years of your tax dollars at $40,000 per year. A murderer is a murderer, I don't care what color the murderer may be. Williams must die for the four people he killed. The Crips will keep killing when he's gone, just like Saddam Hussein and his crew.

You are all so wrong!

Tookie is a victim of racism. Society created him but that doesn't give society the right to take him away.

We need to save Tookie to save ourselves.

Clearly the last post was to rile up discussion and animosity.

Yes, racism exists. Yes, it has limited the life options of millions. Yes, in fact, it has dampened the hopes of millions who survive amid desparate conditions.

But NO, it has not MADE people into killers. Ultimately, that's a personal choice. I would just add that while a few become killers, literally 99+% do NOT commit homocides.

The minority view in the black community is that society made killers, rather they would argue that social conditions have made for a fertile breeding ground for such killings.

True Blue is one of those black racists that always use racism to rationalize their view. Every one is at fault but the actual criminals. Gang members are innocent because they come from poor homes with no fathers. O.J. and Michael Jackson were innocent because of racism. Yeah, right. Even blacks know those two were definitely guilty.
