Dear Friends and Supporters,
Let me again thank you for your support. I look forward to working with all of you to serve our families and neighborhoods.
You have heard me pledge my commitment to continue to work to improve education in Los Angeles. We have a lot of work to do. The young people of our communities need a person with vision, passion and experience on the school board to help move the agenda of educational justice forward.
I am proud to announce my strong support for Monica Garcia to succeed me as the Board Member for District 2 where I served for four and a half years.
We need Monica Garcia on the School Board. She has been an effective leader and advocate for reform as my Chief of Staff for the past four and a half years. Her leadership contributed to our success in many important efforts:
- The A-G initiative to raise academic standards and make college prep classes available for all students in every neighborhood.
- The $14 billion program to build new schools to relieve overcrowding.
- The increase in neighborhood and community stakeholder involvement like the Boyle Heights Learning Collaborative, the Belmont Education Collaborative and Communities for Educational Equity.
I urge you to get involved and help elect Monica Garcia to represent us on School Board. Again, thank you for all you do for our communities.

Jose's endorsement in this district means nothing. People still don't know who he is and he did nothing on the Board to distinguish himself. Wait for the people/organizaitons that count to weigh in: the Mayor, UTLA, County Fed, Eli Broad, Richard Riordan etc.
As other posters have adequately noted, Monica cannot win because, like Jose, she's afraid of her shadow and is not capable of making this district better.
Bottom Line: This District needs something more than political hacks and people with undistinguished careers. We need a reform candidate.....someone who will take on the District largess and the unions and someone who has a vested interest in seeing this District improve.
If Huizar supports her, she must be incompetent too.
How can Huizar be a "kingmaker" while he still has the "king's" (Tony the Liar's) cock in his mouth?
And what about Huizar's high school buddy, Enrique Gasca, the mastermind of those Huizar school signs and a former campaign employee of Huizar. He is meeting with Tony Cardenas today to get his endorsement. Did Huizar leave him out in the cold?
Poor Monica, Pacheco never had a chance to unleash his attacks on Huizar regarding his abysmal school board record - watch his failings come out now and watch Monica take the blame for them.
Huizar has never run a campaign by himself - unlike Pacheco and yes, even Antonio. He was put up by Broas and Riordan to run for school board and he was put up by Antonio to run for city council. How can he now be considered a kingmaker when he doesn't know the first thing about putting a campaign together.
Monica will lose because the voters will confuse her with Gloria Molina, besides, Riordan and Alatorre are putting thier money and influence behind Lou Calanche. Doesn't Alatorre's sister work for you, Huizar?
One word to Monica: Roosevelt.
You still have till January 6th to withdraw so you aren't humilated. Perhaps Jose can keep you on the public payroll. Oh wait, Jose pushed you out in favor of Mr. Ricasa.
That's loyalty.
Lou is also a lost cause not to mention a 3 time loser in elected office.
Doesn't she serve on the disgraced El Pueblo Commission? Didn't Broad and Riordan withdraw their support from her and hand it to Nellie Rios-Parra in the District 5 race?
Can't we do better than the knuckleheads running so far? Can't someone of substance run?
In a group of rollie pollies, Robert Urteaga is looking better and better. With Hertzberg's support, he'll be there at the end.
I know why the District is a complete failure: look at these candidates.
The voters need to increase the pay from $24K to $124K or else we are going to keep getting mental midgets to run for this position.
IF Antonio comes out to support Monica Garcia its a done deal just like Jose. If anyone knows the LAUSD and how its works its Monica. Don't be mean and post personal attacks on her. Debate the issues. Mary Lou has been out of the community for awhile and now comes back begging for favors. I don't like people like that. What happened to Big O running. He told every one a couple of months ago he would run.
That's right IF AV supports Monica. Why would he support her in light Jose's and her poor track record?
Personal attacks aside, you lead by example. Monica is no example for our children and she has no vested interest in seeing this district do well.
Jose won because he was the man that fit the suit and he wasn't Nick Pacheco. Otherwise, Jose would be still laboring on the Board.
Monica doesn't come with Jose's educational credentials nor does she any presence. She's an empty suit more than Jose was.
Robert will be OK. He won't mind.
Soccer Ball, do you think that lying sack of shit Tony gives a fuck. He's a man of little integrity and even less character. He couldn't give a rats ass about Fumio's feelings. He didn't give a rat's ass about his wifes or family's feelings. And this won't be the last lie to come from Tony the Liar, next up is Alex Padilla. What do you think Tony the Liar promised him? Everyone in the know already knows that he is going with Cindy.

The El Pueblo Board of Commissioners was never disgraced; it was the City Department of El Pueblo.
And the Board of Commissioners did a tremendous favor to the taxpayers by exposing the mismanagement of the city department.
They even called openly for Chick to audit the city department. Imagine the Port or Airport authority doing that! That's courage.
So, you can hit Calanche on several things, but sorry, El Pueblo isn't one of them.
Besides, you're so transparent with who you are and what your goal is.

Have you seen the billboards with Jose's mug taking up 50% of the space and the only text of
"congadulations!" someone send a pic to Mayor Sam. They on Valley Blvd near Marianna and on Huntington near Monterey Rd.
The new field office in El Sereno has "Jose Huizar" in the largest font on the sign. No doubt more show than substance.
Yeah, AV was really broken up about having his name erased from the CM field office signs to put up Huizar's.
He was almost the councilmember for that district a few months ago...

Don't feel too bad for AV, he's still responsible for the 80 new bright red signs in the community showing where the 80 FAKE NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH ORGANIZATIONS he started last year in CD14 are located.

Still amazed that none of the media jumped on the lies of the 80 neighborhood watches. Everyone in CD14 including the police officers know they don't exist. Yet, not one LA reporter had the guts to go after what a lying sack of shit Antonio is claiming he created them. If he lied about that fact and even put in his tv ads there's a lot more to go after. MayorSam, let's get one thing straight that I'm sure even Monica would agree about:
Endorsing a candidate for Los Angeles Unified School District Region 2 does not exactly make Huizar a "Kingmaker."

At least Monica Garcia knows how the school district works now. But a candidate with strong ties to the UTLA would make for an interesting race---the candidate could run against Monica's administrative experience...and ultimately, ironically, pit Jose against a union. I think Antonio would not endorse Monica or anyone if someone with strong enough UTLA ties jumped into the race.

You obviously didn't spend much time at the the District's offices.
Neither Jose nor his staff knew how the District "worked" which is why his tenure on the Board was so underwhelming. Indeed, I challenge you so speak to other board members and staff to see what their impressions were of Monica and Jose's staff.. I'm sure they will tell you what everyone else knows: Monica is nice but couldn't get things done.
There will be other candidates entering this race and it is my hope as a parent and an employee of the District that we can do better than end up with political hacks on this Board.
Robert Urteaga won't raise 5 dollars; he won't earn 5 points.
Political hacks would include almost everyone who has declared: Gasca, Calanche, Garcia, Arrellano.
Please someone save us from these do nothings.

Name one attack ad by Pacheco.
In hindset he should have hit from the beginning instead of his wishful thinking of waiting for the runoff. Huizar got a free ride - except, of course, for Arceo's mailer.
Sounds like Crystal A. is the one getting the digs in now... maybe she's getting ready for 2007?

AV should stay out of this one or risk looking like a hypocrite-- who says he wants to appoint the Board members but then tries to get people to vote for someone in an election. He needs to pick his battles wisely.
Is there a weight limit to enter this race? Based on whose entered so far I'd say 200 pds is a good number.

I do not post anything about me on this site. I am not a self promoter and do not care to be mentioned. I am not running for office nor plan to in the future.
I do not always pick the winner but I always pick the best candidate. I helped out Councilman Pacheco the first time when he won and everybody and their mothers were against him. Hertzberg did not win but he was definietly the best candidate for Mayor (I decided to work for Hertzberg when nobody gave him a chance to win). Call it whatever streak you want but I am 100% at picking the best candidate.
As for Councilman Pacheco, he will hit the ground running, deliver for the district, complete all the outstanding projects and represent the district, and that is in two years time. It will take anyone elsetwo years just to get to know how to do the job. I have nothing against Huizar. He is a good family man who wants to do good in the district. But wanting to do good and actually delivering are two different things. Pacheco has delivered and will contiue to deliver.
I too am a resident of CD14 and live across the street from Garvanza Park in Highland Park. So I have a personal interest too.
As for the Anybody But Councilman Pacheco person, it is easy to be aginst something anonymously but hard to be for someting in public. Try it in the future, you will be a better person for it. This is the type of devisive politics we do not need in CD14.
I still work for Hertzberg but will be leaving soon.

I'm still holding out hope that we might get some better candidates. I guess with the salary at $24K, you get what you pay for: unremarkable political hacks.

Looks like this race will not be over until the fat lady (Monica or Lou) sings.
What a weak listing of candidates. This explains why the District is such a mess.
One the one hand we have a extrmely overweight undistinguished almost-chief of staff to an extremely timid former board member. On the other hand we have an overweight field deputy to a former drug using councilmember.
Yes, the District is going to continue to go nowhere.
My wish for a reform candidate with some special training was not to be.
I'm putting my kids into private school or a charter school.
Well, you won't escape LAUSD by putting your kids in a charter school. Move them to a private school. We need the space at LAUSD.
Keep that smelly Hertzberg in the unknown part of the valley where he belongs.

NOT the best candidate by any means. OBVIOUSLY that was proven.
He can't take the valley much less the city. He has too much input into AV's administration now. One day AV will understand that we don't want Riordan/Hertzberg influence or more of us would have voted for Hertzberg and Riordan would have a higher popular rating now instead of the losing-his-mind reputation that he has.
I look at these post times and wonder why people are awake at
1 AM or 4 AM.
Then I read in the paper that Jan Perry sometimes emails Parks and he gets back to her immediately.
I bet it's the councilmembers who come skulking around here in the middle of the night saying things they couldn't normally say.
Huizar has a fettish for BIG FAT women. Monica is a Beach Whale and his wife Richelle is looking like "Willy."
