As The Blog Turns
We reported yesterday on the Calendar Weekend article about blogging in LA. Since we were one of the blogs mentioned in their sidebar (the first one their list in fact, but I don't think they got the memo about us not being anonymous anymore), its probably easier for us to take the following potshots, but nonetheless, the reaction in the local blogging world was all over the map.
Kevin Roderick breathed a sigh of relief that his blog was mentioned despite his constant daily bitch slapping of the Times, and then attempted to put all the blogs mentioned on the site into his own special "herd." Nice shepharding, Kev.
Cathy Seipp, one of the blogs not mentioned, rips the piece to shreds considering the difference between spittle and phlegm.
Joe Mailander at Martini Republic, in a Mayor Sam comment, does a yeoman job in not mentioning his own snub, points out the usual suspects that everyone else says was ignored, but is dead on especially in noting the Times missing Boi From Troy. As well, Martini Republic itself, with its wide ranging and eclectic coverage deserved a nod.
Blogging LA, not content enough with the sidebar mention, bemoans lack of copy about itself in the main article, assuming that since the story's head is the same as their name, they deserve a little ink.
Family blog Franklin Avenue was pleasantly surprised at their mention.
All in all interesting to see the old media trying to understand the new.

Wow, thanks. I've also issued An Apology to Our Readers for not making the cut. It was plainly my own fault for not tooting our horn the way Roderick does monthly, and for not filling our right column with those would-be peer-pressure testimonials.
Ironically, the article all came on a day when the LA Weekly, Matt Welch, Rodger Jacobs---the latter two of whom didn't make the cut either---as well as this blog all had nice things to say about us.
Although in sincerity, I can see us not being included, because we lead with national news---exactly the way the scribe's own paper does---and the Times scribe would actually have to click his mouse once to get to the LA stuff or to find out that two-thirds of the blog is devoted to LA.
Any Spanish-language blogs on that list? I don't have the heart to check it anymore.

Cantinflas made the list.

Cantinflas? Those are some OLD hombres, if that's the case. Gregory Peck gets more respect today even on Holiwierd Blvd.
