Mayor Sam's Morning Update

Snarky bloggy bits going on over at Martini Republic. Joe Mailander certainly knows how to get under the skin of ultra-hip bloggers such as Kevin Roderick and Mack Reed. He just continues to make me laugh.

If entertainment mogul David Geffen nees to go into town tomorrow, he may want to know the following: One southbound lane on PCH will be closed from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for road construction.

When is a holiday tree not a holiday tree? When it's a Christmas tree. In recent years, political correctness run amok has emasculated the Christmas holiday, despite the fact that 96% of Americans celebrate Christmas in one form or another. Tomorrow, Mayor V will light a tree on the steps of City Hall. We don't know if its a holiday tree or Christmas tree. However, the Cities of Compton and Lynwood as well as the County of Los Angles (shhh...don't let Ramona Ripston know!) will do the right thing and light something tomorrow called a Christmas tree. The City of Burbank will light some kind of tree tomorrow as well, if anyone knows if its a real Christmas tree or a liberal, ACLU holiday tree, let us know. (See related story, It's A Christmas Tree)

Councilman Bill Rosendahl has joined with activist Tony Muhammed in calling on Governor Schwarzenegger to grant clemency to convicted murderer Stanley "Tookie" Williams. And I thought I liked Rosendahl.

District Attorney Steve Cooley is praising a decision by the Mexican Supreme Court that murder suspects who flee to Mexico can be extradited back to the US. I wonder if this has anything to do with a House measure to cut off foreign aid to any country that harbors cop killers. One of the most notable cases there is that of Los Angeles County Deputy Sheriff David March, who was murdered in 2002. The suspect in the killing fled to Mexico and to date the Mexican government has refused to extradite him to stand trial.

Gee Wally, Sean Bonner sure sounds like a junior version of Kevin Roderick. What's a fella to do? Golly, I thought Mack Reed wanted that gig. Boy, I sure don't want to be in that dustup!

I told you all on another thread what a complete moron Rosendahl is. I'm sure his westside constituents will like the fact he's teaming with the Nation of Islam idiot who got arrested for assaulting a police officer. Also that Tony Mohammed always threatens to burn down the city and resort to violence if he doesn't get his way. Can someone please say "RECALL."

Please everyone e-mail the lame brain at let him know what you think.

From Greene in LA Weekly on Padilla>:

“And we defeated secession by working together.” Huh? The City Council defeated secession? “And we made it through 9/11.” Well. I’m speechless. No, I’m not. In Los Angeles, 9/11 happened on TV. Remember?

Yeah, that's why the Firefighter DID NOT endorse Alex Padilla & why the majority of the West Valley leadership & secessionist aren't with Alex. Don't be surprised if Zine turns his back.

He's just a lameduck now trying to play on a team where Antonio is captain. Keep riding the pine!

GREAT LA WEEKLY SLAMMING CITY COUNCIL....first day in office, new City Council members José Huizar and Herb Wesson showed they had already mastered the finer points of council decorum by making sure not to pay attention to public comment....Having made their own speeches and having been praised by the mayor and the city attorney, both councilmen stepped out of the chambers while members of the public brought forward their thoughts and petitions.

TALKS ABOUT MIRELL APPOINTMENT...
MENTIONS RUDY DE VERA'S FIRING AND

Bloggers had it right away. Martini Republic first, then Mayor Sam. Then it was in the Times. Then it was, almost, forgotten.

Not surprising sadly.

And there's Janice Hahn blabbing that she wants to head the committee that oversees the port and airport to hold them "accountable" for the negative impacts on the community. Pleaasse. She had four years with big bro, and the harbor environment tanked under their watch.

Christmas Tree sponsored by the government. Can elected leaders get the trees blessed too?

I can't imagine why these "politically correct" jerks want to forbid a perfectly good religious symbol on public grounds.

I mean it's not like other religions have anything nearly as cool a symbol as the Christians. Sounds like jealously of the atheists, agnostics, Jews, Muslims, Buddists and other non-God loving groups.
