News Round-Up
Sorry for the delayed blogging this morning. I'm suffering from "blogus interruptus." Anyways, on with the news...
Yesterday we broke the news exclusively of Larry Grisolano bolting Rocky Delgadillo and Mayor Sam noted our appearance in the LA Times.
Robert Greene brings it as he always does with his piece, "First-Day Chatters - José and Herb can’t be bothered by the public on their inaugural day." Yes we are biased as we got yet another press mention in this story, but hey, we earned it.
Steve Hymon has a nice piece in the times entitled Dead Ringer, Wine Flinger and Campaign Gunslinger. Lots of gossip in there.
And don't forget about this bit in Sam's morning update: Snarky bloggy bits going on over at Martini Republic. Joe Mailander certainly knows how to get under the skin of ultra-hip bloggers such as Kevin Roderick and Mack Reed. He just continues to make me laugh.
A settlement has been reached in a 10-year dispute between the city of Los Angeles and several other parties over the proposed expansion of LAX. The settlement will impose expansion limits designed to assure that LAX serves a maximum of 78.9 million passengers a year. We'll hear all about at 1:30 today.

Mayor Frank, take all theposts from Thursday's open thread and put them on this thread. This new thread, although on topoic, kind of interrupts the flow.

CONGRATULATIONS MAYOR SAM.
YOU ARE MENTION TODAY AT TOP OF LA TIMES CALENDAR SECTION PAGE E30 as one of the political blogs in LA. They have listings of other types of blogs
In LA Weekly again you are mentioned.
Who's your pr person?? hahahaha

The L.A. Times also mentions one of Mayor Franks scoops. the Arceo report card piece. Crystal really showed some class by offering to work with Huizar, while Huizar was made out to be the punk that he is by refusing Crystal's olive branch. Can you say rematch in 18 months?
Steve Hymon also mentions the most recent Parra DOH!:
"In late October, Alvin Parra said he was involved in distributing copies of unflattering newspaper stories about Nick Pacheco to Eastside residents.
Pacheco was running against Huizar, who was supported by Villaraigosa. The stories were from 2001 through 2003, and involved allegations of the misuse of city funds.
The handouts, which were distributed by volunteers, neglected to mention that Pacheco was never found to have done anything wrong.
Nine days after Huizar trounced Pacheco in the council race, Parra's wife, Nellie Rios-Parra, a Lennox School District official, was appointed by Villaraigosa to the city Library Commission."
That's East L.A. politics that Antonio has brought to the Mayors office - the politics of retribution, spite and payoffs. Who needs the "Shield" on FX when this drama unfolds right before our eyes. Hey Antonio, isn't Nellie Rios-Parra an adamant opponent of bilingual education? Can we expect foreign language censorship at our libraries?

Steve Hymon got the "filth distributor Parra's wife named on commission" story here, I posted it off the city agendas/referrals within seconds of its distribution a week or more ago, and made the linkages.

I love Steve Hymon of LA Times. This is the best piece I've seen on LA politics in ages. It is a must read for all citywide. Its being e-mailed all over the place.
I'm sure it is being passed around city hall. Because of Robert Greene's piece in LA Weekly let's see if those lame city council members behave tomorrow.

Wish Hymon would have known about this when he did his story.

I told you all on another thread what a complete moron Rosendahl is. I'm sure his westside constituents will like the fact he's teaming with the Nation of Islam idiot who got arrested for assaulting a police officer. Also that Tony Mohammed always threatens to burn down the city and resort to violence if he doesn't get his way. Can someone please say "RECALL."
Please everyone e-mail the lame brain at let him know what you think.

MAYOR SAMS had one of the "Hymon hystericals" from the LAT more than TWO WEEKS ago. . .

Heres a little "quid pro" to stick up your "quo". . .
The week after the "chipmunk" himself cops to helping with an unmarked, un-registered, un-ethical slime campaign against the guy AV does NOT want to see in the CD14 chair, comes the PAYOLA, in the form of a COMMISION seat for ALVIN'S WIFE!
"NOVEMBER 15, 2005
Communications from the Mayor relative to the following appointments:
CD 14 05-2453 Ms. Nellie Rios-PARRA to the Board of Library Commissioners for the term ending June 30, 2006, to fill the vacancy created by the removal of Ms. Susan Key."
Argue all day what was and wasn't LEGAL, ETHICAL, or just plain STUPID... but the payoff is there, nonetheless.
DOH! Keep it up, ALVIN, that's only a short-term appointment. Maybe with a few more STIPENDS like that for your dirty work -- SOMEDAY the "missus" will finally forgive you for the LAUSD race screwwww-up.
(Don't plan on ever becoming "made" though, DUDE. You should be glad you're not at the bottom of the harbor wearing cement Homer Simpson house slippers).

That is as transparent as you can get. Villaraigosa why did you agree to the slime. You are better than this, this is clear payback.

Those who are coming out to support Antonio should face the facts. Antonio is the one who was claiming he would be ethical and clean city hall. Yet, he's appointed family and friends, wives of endorsers, and every week now there's something in the papers on what he's done wrong. You Antonio lovers are in denial.

That's still pretty funny: "cement Homer Simpson slippers". I just bought a pair of those (not cement) for my nephew at the 99cent store.

re: City Council ignoring The People speaking:
My blood chilled watching ole John Ferraro blatantly ignoring all speakers, obviously chatting with anyone nearby or brazenly reading a newspaper, and then turning on his copius charm, warmly thanking the speakers for sharing their concerns.

Hey now, 6000+ right after IBEW contract got approved? Woah, Alex gives up the ass pretty cheap.

Hymon got it on the nail, Montanez kicked padilla while he was already on the ground. Why u cryin? Why you crying..
""Rather than being ousted from the City Council presidency, Alex Padilla will surrender the position to Councilmember Eric Garcetti. This comes on the heels of his losing the endorsement of the city firefighters a clear vote of no confidence from those that know him best.
"While Padilla is attempting to claim that he is "stepping down" from the presidency to focus on his Senate race against me, it is clear that he had no choice but to resign or be voted out. This is nothing more than an unconditional surrender in the face of overwhelming opposition to hiscontinued presidency"

Again Antonio taking credit for something that he doesn't have anything to do with. CERT was implemented by LAPD not the mayor's office. What now he's doing LAPD's work?

IF Cindy had truly thrown wine on someone, it would have been reported in a lot more places than just here. It would have been in the Bee.
So stop it Alex. You are starting to look like Alger with your posts about yourself.

It was reported in a lot more places, not just here. In fact, it's on here because it was reported in the Times today. Can't think straight anymore, how about one for the road?

That story is more than a month old. Old news is frankly....no news.
Hymon also failed to mention that this lady works for the Communication Workers of America. The next day CWA endorsed Cindy. Goes to show you that you can have your cake and eat it too. That bitch got dealt with and Cindy still got endorsed.
The real story is Alex getting his ass tossed up for 6,000 by IBEW & all the shit talking about him now that he's no longer president.
