All (early) absentees, so far, except for one small precinct counted. The absentees tallied so far could represent as much as 2/3 of the total mail-ins so far, but most would have been received and counted before today.

If this hangs around the 50 percent for too much longer (when we get around 40 precincts in, etc), we won't know tonight whether there's a runoff of not. It will take the counting of those received today and in the polling places to finalized it - one way or another.

Plus the late absentees may lean a different way than the earlier ones based on late mailings (attacks from several sides, on several players).

Apparently the mayor is mighty. What is he going to do... how is he going to blame lackluster performance the next couple years, like in CD14, when he has all his people lined up on City COuncil?

Sooner or later, the media has to just stop showing up at the photo-ops, then what?

They're already starting to nail him on gray squishies like the corporate jet.

The Pacheco people never wanted to believe that they were out of touch.

Even after some polls showed them losing they just wrote them off as not credible. What a pitty.

Paid counters, who knows where they come from... there was a story in the Times just after the mayoral primary, but it would take some digging. They're supervised by county election workers, etc. The different camps can usually send observers if there's concern about funny business, but even with all the finger pointing last spring, nothing turned up suspect.

I want to know when the precincts show up. Pacheco had some heavy duty local leaders vouching for him, vs. Huizar's all CMs and elected officials from elswhere in the city.

Second time in a row he's been blown out in a primary in this district.

Dont let the numbers fool you as to who's "out of touch" 5 percent of the people in the district do all the work, and Pacheco had most of the movers... but with 3 times as much money, Huizar was able to tell most of the people who don't even know what district they live in lies, over and over... any they bought it.

These are the same people who still believe Av started 80 neighborhood watches (while he was out of town, with the help of staff who still get lost driving from one event to another).

It's all in the bucks, and people wanted to please AV, so they paid through the Jose to get to him.

Huizar will be reelected in 2007, then skip out and run for some other position within a year after that, barely beating AV's 2-years-in office tenure.

Think of it as "public" funding of the next election.

CD14 paid AV to run for mayor, got nothing for it but the notoriety of having a mayor living in our midst (OOPS, where is he living now... where did he vote).

Huizar will try to move a few things ahead, he's not anywhere near the opportunist AV was. But, yeah, better learn to fend for yourself.

Looks like it was the voters who were asleep.

Not that Pacheco is anything great, but Huizar? Come on.

But, its going to be very dark days in California for some time.

Pacheco is one thing, but Arnold really fucked up.

You remember some time ago I went after low life Republican leaders like the Boyds, etc. who care more about personal power, money and prestige than the state of the party?

Stay tuned. You ain't seen nothing yet.

I'm going back to bed. Cut and paste away!

And Arnold was sucessfully shut down.

California told Arnold what they thought of him.

You cannot come into power saying you are going to clean house and get rid of special interests money when your idea and the residents idea of a special interest is vastly different.

I disagree Mayor. This is a very good day for California and Los Angeles will be just fine..

For every string of Huizar's that AV can pull, he will be unable to do that to Wesson. Wesson is his own man and he doesn't need AV's approval.

I'll be tired tomorrow, but happy.

Congratulations Jose~

Remember my prediction from this weekend:

Prediction:

Huizar: 55%
Pacheco: 33%
Gonzalez: 3%
DeVera: 3%
Republican dude: 4%
Rest: 2%

Actual result:
Huizar: 54%
Pacheco: 28%
Gonzalez: 2%
DeVera: 5%
Republican dude: 4%
Rest: 9%

That's why they call me El Rey (guess I was too charitable to Pacheco)

With the results from last night it is obvious that serious people need to ask questions.

How can Pacheco's campaign implode to such an extent. All indication point to internal sabotage and back stabbing.

The culprit is not hard to identify, Eric Hacopian.

How can a person go from being AV's consultant to being Pacheco's in the next election.

How can Parke Skelton's business partner run a campaign against a Parke's candidate?

How can some one with close ties to Richard Murello run Pacheco's campaign?

Did Hacopian hire an incompetent fundraising team to hurt Nick's campaign?

Can a person like that really be trusted?

What did Hacopian reveal of the Pacheco game plan to AV after he left the campaign.

Was he a plant all along.

With all the coverage in this race no one seems that no one has the guts to ask these questions.
