Rosa Parks, 92

AP - 1 hour, 9 minutes ago
DETROIT - Rosa Parks, whose refusal to give up her bus seat to a white man sparked the modern civil rights movement, died Monday evening. She was 92.

Update -- One of I'm sure many candlelight vigil's will be held Tuesday in Leimert Park in memory of Rosa Parks. The vigil organized by Project Islamic Hope is scheduled to begin at 6 p-m. at the park, located near the intersection of Crenshaw Boulevard and Vernon Avenue.

Ms. Rosa Parks,

I thank you for your action,
with it came a reaction,
America woke up,
no more back seats,
divisiveness of color,
today I say good bye,
for with wisdom you challenged,
the blind to see,
and the deaf to hear,
my fall seasoned skin,
deep universal eyes,
will America stay awake,
to remember the most wise.

Love,
Cyberlady

Rosa Parks is indeed an American Hero. Because of her actions, people of color today are able to enjoy the full benefits of the US Constitution. The Civil Rights movement was initiated to the Actions of Rosa Parks and the likes of Dr. Martin Luther King. We are a better nation now because of the brave actions these leaders took for future generations. I'm sad to witness the passing of such a great hero, but proud to know that her spirit lives on. May god bless Rosa Parks, rest in peace.

Rosa Parks is a hero to more than just African Americans. She is a hero to all who have suffered any form of indignity.

A candlelight vigil sponsored by the one man operation Project Islamic Hope - AKA Najee Ali? When is the African-American community going to get tired of him? Everytime he organizes something in our community, no one shows up. Even reporters don't show up to cover it. It's sad that folks even think he is a leader.
If there is going to be some sort of recognition for her, let it come from more relevant groups in our community, or let's see all of the L.A. City Council members support and recognize her contributions and do something for her as one body.

Honor Ms. Parks' memory not by slamming someone, but with kind recognition for her sacrifice that made our country stronger and more free.
