CD 14 Red Meat for the Campaign Staffers

Martini Republic runs an interview with Nick Pacheco in the "Overnighter".

He also alerts us to the possible incoming fireworks occuring later today from both the expected announcement from LA Chamber of Commerce regarding their endorsement decision and the Downtown Neighborhood Council meeting taking place this evening where many of the candidates are expected to be in attendance.

Stay tuned for more of the juice...

....comment recently made by a manager at Homeboy Industries, who had said that Villaraigosa as Councilman was more visible in the District than Pacheco was.

This is total B.S. You ask anyone in the area and they will tell you Antonio was "missing in action." Of course Homeboy will say this because its the only place Antonio visited as councilman and he kisses Father Boyle's butt. They both protect gang bangers and make excuses for them. Boyle Heights does not like Antonio or Jose. If they show up to any meetings they will get booed. Ask Jose how it felt when he was booed at Roosevelt?????

9:23 You are distorting the facts. He got booed at the comment made he attended Salesian, but immediately was followed by clapping for his work. It was like booing for the rival school, nothing major, damn you posters distort the facts.

Let's see, Nick was able to get Homeboy Industries six graffiti removal trucks and a nice city contract from graffiti removal. This contract was previously held by Frank Villalobos and Barrio Planners (both max donors to Huizar) and they did a miserable job.

For the first time in my life, Boyle Heights was graffiti free.

Then Antonio comes along - decides to campaign for Kerry and then for mayor - all while snubbing the 14th District. During his tenure, two Homeboy Industry employees were killed - on the job - while removing graffiti and the project was halted. No alternative plans or added security by Villaraigosa. Just the end of the project.

Then Hahn, at Nick's urging, arranged for these ex-Homeboy Industry employees to get jobs. Where was Villaraigosa?

AV was at Kate Mantelini's in Beverly Hills, with Steve Lopez, commented on the "bouquet" of rare wines. . . remember?

It seems to me that you are distorting the facts. 9:23 was talking about Roosevelt, not Salesian. And Huizar did get booed, I was there. He got booed when he mentioned Villaraigosa's support. This reaction took Huizar's campaign by surprise, and they have yet to recover. Parke didn't expect this much animosity.

You mention Salesian, did Huizar get booed here also? Isn't Salesian his alma mater? I received a flyer from Salesian Alumni thanking Nick Pacheco for the football field and gym, what gives?

What are you implying -- that a Latino's place is in the barrio chugging beer?

"Ask Jose how it felt when he was booed at Roosevelt?????"

What are you talking about? When did this occur? A while back or recently, gives some dates. Otherwise, I have been to Huizar events and I have not witnessed what you so called have.

Had an invite to the LABC debate this morning. Left CD14 at 6:30 am gave up at Highland and Wilshire around 8:00 am , what a traffic mess. I see why the LABC had this on the west side, to keep out the real voters of CD14 from seeing them stuffing money in Jose and Nick's pockets. Did anybody make it there? Can anyone give a review of the debate???
Thanks

Not "implying" anything. CM's belong in the DISTRICT they said they wanted to represent -- promoting it, defending it, improving it, dealing with the people's problems.

AV was EVERYWHERE else, but - for TWO FUCKING YEARS, (DC, Sacramento, Westside), and did none of the above.

What planet are you guys from? It was reported even in the newspapers that at the CD14 debate at Roosevelt High last month when Jose mentioned he was endorsed by Antonio he got booed loudly. When ABC 7 went to Boyle Heights with their management team Jose stood in the back of the room. 2 other candidates spoke but Jose showed his lack of leadership by being afraid to step up and speak. That sent a clear message to all that he's gutless and afraid.

FYI, NoYo = North of York.

And yes, I made it up. Lots of people in the district say "north of York", so why not?

If you're trying to make north Highland Park and Eagle Rock "trendy" - give it a rest.

How "in" can cookie-cutter strip malls separated by overrated coffee houses and the occasional second-rate panaderia be?

Did Casa Bianca change hands? It doesn't seem as good as it was when I was a kid running around EaFi...
At least Foliero's is still the same, except on the other side of the street....

East of Figueroa....
