Open Thread for Friday

On this day in 1868, Thomas Edison applied for his first patent, the electric vote recorder. 137 years later, we still can't seem to get it working properly to everyone's satisfaction.

A year ago today we blogged about Deaton moving to DWP, Press for Mayor Sam, Antonio in turmoil, and a photo of Sam and Parker.

Won't anyone report the REAL story of the outside campaign contributions dirtying up the CD14 council race, and what they mean to the future of that district?

Here's what REALLY needs to be told about HUIZAR's new big contribution numbers for CD14 campaign -- approaching half a million, with IEs. . .

Max. contributions from nearly 100 LAWYERS AND LAW FIRMS (nearly ALL most from OUTSIDE the district).

Max contributions from NEARLY 100
Builders, DEVELOPERS, engineering firms, architects, property management firms, etc. etc. (most from outside the district).

It should be abundantly clear to anyone watching what this is about, and what it's payback for (and pay AHEAD for)

DEALS, DEALS, DEALS.

Oops, sorry to short-change you, Jose, I miscounted. There were 2 more pages, make that:

Maximum contributions from MORE THAN 100 Builders, DEVELOPERS, engineering firms, architects, property management firms, etc.. . .

I hope you have a BIG ledger to keep track of ALL the SPECIAL FAVOR variances and permits and zoning adjustments these bottom feeders are going to require of you, while you're "protecting open space on the Eastside" (ha!)

What is it they're going to be asking you for if you make city council, Huizar? Are they aggressively pursuing contracts to build TREES and GRASS and BARE HILLSIDES for the city (with man-made materials, of course).

HELL NO! If elected, Jose the land-use attorney (key word hear is USE, i.e. BUILD is going to open the flood gates to an OVERDEVELOPMENT BOOM that will make the 1960s look like rural landscape-ville.)

Fuck us ONCE, shame on Antonio. Fuck us TWICE, shame on CD14!!

Reading that old post on Antonio in turmoil had people saying how easy it would be to get Antonio recalled.

Remember the calls you did Nick to some of Hahn's operatives about putting this together? I do, my brother told me about it. How do you feel now Nick knowing that the ethics commission has the $$$ list and the lists is a "who's who" of Nick Pacheco supporters.

My brother is nervous for you.

Is this supposed to be some kind of BIG disclosure? STOP THE DAMN PRESSES.

BIG NEWS... That many, maybe even MOST of the people who favored recalling AV as CM may have also/may be now supporting Pacheco? Just how much "lame" are you trying to pull off with that assertion.

So WHAT?

Pacheco supporters valued effective government, and got it for 4 years when he was the CM. They knew, they TOLD people, they warned them for MONTHS, that AV wasn't planning to do anything for CD14, just needed a launching pad to run for mayor again.

And, GUESS what (oh... you're WAY ahead of me on that one, you already KNOW that's exactly what the little lying scumbag did!)

So OF COURSE these same Pacheco supporters, plus others, plus a LOT of ex-AV supporters would be pissed off only 16 months later when he took the ceremonial Goldline ride downtown and deserted every promise to the district. Two wasted years! Another news flash, there are still lots of people in the world who don't like being taken for suckers, and think just MAYBE a politician who does that to his constituents on a regular basis should be punished (maybe even LOSE his job!)

Big wow, big news, hot info.

Just like TONS of AV supporters were still pissed FOUR years later that Hahn beat him for mayor, and wanted to ditch Hahn, because of THAT contest.
