Happy Birthday Sam

While this birthday comes at a bitter sweet time for me personally, I can't help but smile at the overwhelming success and excitement this site has brought to not just me, but the political establishment in LA.

It has been quite a year. Another mayoral campaign. A special election extravaganza. Countless scandals. Our outing. Multiple mainstream media stories. Hot lists. Ass clowns. Neighborhood watches. Parking scandals. You name it, it has happened.

Over 1,100 thread posts, 8,000 comments, and 300,000 page views later, the traffic is higher and more steady than ever.

We would be remiss if we didn't thank some of the many sites who have linked to us over the last year: Martini Republic, LA Observed, LA Voice, Boi From Troy, Downtown Central City East Blogger, FullosseousFlap's Dental Blog, Independent Sources, LAist, West LA Online, the skunks of los feliz, Phoblographer*, Matt Szabo, Patterico's Pontifications, and Civil Action Press. My apologies to those I missed.

I would also be remiss if I didn't take a moment to thank Mayor Sam himself. It was his wit and snappy comments on the Fourth Floor which provided this blog a base of support. If not for other's sloppy ways, our dear Sam would probably still be hidden in anonymity. Yet through it all, he kept the ship afloat and on target delivering you the most up-to-date rumblings in the political circles we are all addicted to. Without his steady hand, who knows how many scandals may have brewed under the surface unknown to all.

But getting back to basics, here's to yet another year of fun and frivolity for you and yours truly. And thanks again to all of you for making this a memorable year exposing the innards of City Hall.
