TV Stars and Autographs

Both Franklin Avenue and LAist bring us the news that LA has another TV star in the making...

Mayor Villaraigosa will appear as himself on ``The George Lopez Show.''

MAV is the third Los Angeles mayor to portray himself in a sitcom TV show:

Richard Riordan appeared in a 1999 episode of "It's Like, You Know...''

And our own Sam Yorty appeared in a 1972 episode of "Here's Lucy.''

If you're looking for his autograph, you might want to check your local jury room. According to City News Service:

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa is scheduled to report to jury duty tomorrow morning at a downtown Los Angeles courthouse, according to a mayoral spokesman. Villaraigosa will report to the Clara Shortridge Foltz Superior Courthouse at 7:30 a.m. tomorrow, Villaraigosa aide Joe Ramallo said. "The mayor looks forward to fulfilling his civic duty," Ramallo said.

I hope a reporter does his homework and finds out if Antonio's jury duty is a fix. He's going to use this as another excuse why he hasn't done shit during his 1st 100 days. Antonio is another wannabe actor. He gave George Lopez an award last Friday in council. George has done nothing for this city but now we know it was just payback for being on the show.
Can we all say L O S E R

What a load of crap. He's just grandstanding and lining up Fundraising for the run for Governor. Think about out it, he's out of town about everyweek and he's at press and photo ops but you never see him IN city hall. Why do you think he's backed down on the IBEW with the DWP raise and the Teachers' Unions? They want to pay him back and endorse him when he runs for Governor.

What a Joke. Of course he is running for GOVERNOR in the future. Look at all his actions lately, photo ops, trips to D.C., traveling, he is never home (Los Angeles) to do work, always away. I guess he figures some acting won't hurt him but help him, look at GOV.ARNOLD. It got him electd gov. so he wants to copycat...too bad we don't like liars (AV). I hope he is casted not as himself as a prev. anon stated, but as an east l.a. drug dealer.

AV is definately running for Gov., he can't help himself. First, his ego's too big and secound, he's starting to believe his own press release. AV will feel obligated to run for Gov., considering who we have as Democrats running. Both Phil and Steve cannot beat Arnold. So, the Demo leadership will pump AV's head and make him feel obligated to do this. Don't forget AV's ego is so big that he is also looking beyond the Gov's seat. oh, by the way, AV also thinks he's a movie star. He is a wanna be movie star at heart. Notice he's always looking in the mirror. Pretty boy, you need to stay here in LA and finish your job. The people of LA will remember if you skip out and will vote against you. Think about this one carefully.

Hey Parke, do you think it's wise to put Tony next to George Lopez's humongous head, it will make him look smaller than he already is.

You guys are too much. AV is gorgeous and you all know it. He can't help it. Of course he capitalizes on it. Same way Clinton did.

But I don't think he's going to run for governor. He'll bypass that on his way to V.P. and then in 10 years he'll be the first Latino president.

Mark my words.

And George Lopez doesn't do anything? I don't know if he's circumsized or not, nor do I care, but I do find him extremely humorous, which is basically all I ask out of a comedian.

I don't think AV doing a walk on, (like other mayors have done) actually constitutes him being a wanna-be. How much do you want to bet that George Lopez asked him to be on the show, not that AV called Lopez to be on the show.

I'm white and I voted for Hahn.

This is the same George Lopez who endorsed Becerra over Tony in 2001 and Alarcon over Tony in 2005. I guess if you can't beat them, join them. However, they do seem to have a lot in common - poor little Mexican kids from broken homes who are so misunderstood - I wonder if Parke will now become Lopez's publicist - he loves this poor mexican boy routine.

in fact, he headlined a fundraiser for AV in 01.

lopez then worked with alarcon on his foundation for youth programs well before the 05 election. lopez endorses alarcon, then lopez supports antonio in the run-off against hahn.

get your facts straight.

As for Antonio running for governor. just not true.

there is no evidence he is running for governor in 06. and all the polling suggests westley or angelides can beat arnold today.

As for the trips to DC -- if folks did their homoework, they'd know the Mayor's office has an office there to facilitate the Mayor and the city in federal funding. The office was created during the Bradley administration and hahn never utilized it.

the folks on this blog should not confuse effective mayoral advocacy of federal funding for anything other than just that -- effective advocacy.

Did Riordan ever use it?

And on the basis of doing one's homework, true Mayor Bradley has an office for that but he only went on these trips about once or at most twice a month.

Then again Bradley had competant Senators and Congressman in DC to help bridge the and add emphasis on what the City is trying to do.

Also Bradley was wise enough to get the books in LA in order FIRST before asking DC for one dime!

That's effective advocacy!

So c&h soup, keep sipping that soup for you keep your trap from spewing such non-sense.

Oh really, but from my eyes Antonio Villaraigosa has been many a press confrence and photo-op with both candidates. Sounds like these guys are just the decoys so that Antonio can come with a "suprise" announcement. I kid you not this isn't make believe. This is Politics and Political strategy.

Well let me go so I can fix Archie is dinner.

Problem with Antonio is he's coming up to his 100 days and will use the excuse of jury duty for his failure of doing anything. He's getting neighborhood councils to help with his citywide cleanup. Only problem is a lot of NC said hell no. Do it yourself!! He's fixing potholes because he can't think of anything with more substance he can do. He's been a big disappointment to many. IF he does run for GOv what would he put as his accomplishments? Appointing family and friends who either had a conflict of interest, had to resign, once again embarrassed us a lackluster nobody.

How nice that our city doesn't have any problems that would interfere with the mayor's two trips to Washington, his one-week vacation in Hawaii, his trip to Sacramento, his horse-back riding, his singing "Happy Birthday" to a girl on the subway while TV cameras rolled, his sending city employees to New Orleans on our dime, his rushing to the airport to make sure he's included in the Jet Blue landing, his moving out of the 'hood into the mayor's mansion, and, of course his sitcom career. Good to know there's nothing really pressing that would require him to, you know, do his job.

You've got your facts wrong. Becerra went on the George Lopez radio show - when he had a show, and Lopez referred to Tony as "the other guy." On live radio he said, " I can't tell you who to vote for but (almost shouting) XAVIER BECERRA is here with us this morning." Parke didn't want Tony on that show for fear of making him look too Mexican. And he most certainly endorsed Alarcon, those Paca boys stick together. Just because Alarcon endorsed Tony, that didn't mean his supporters followed blindly - they were more pissed by Alarcon pussying out - just like the other Paca boys - Alex and Tony C..

Get a clue Phil K.- Clinton is not a liar. I agree that he did not have sex with that woman. No penatration no sex. It's as simple as that. Now had he said that he had never fooled around with that woman, well that would have been a lie. As far as I'm concerned Clintons statement to all of America was true. It's not his fault he wasn't asked explicit questions.
