With all the talk of trolls lately, I thought I should note that on this day in 1937, J. R. R. Tolkien published The Hobbit. (And no, hobbits are not trolls, but they come across them in their adventures)Also, in 2002, "International Day of Peace" was recognized by the United Nations as a full day of ceasefire and nonviolence.
We'll see how that works out. I'm guessing it will be more like birthday boy H. G. Wells epic "The War of the Worlds"

William Burke, a mayoral nominee to the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power Board, has withdrawn after state and city attorneys raised concerns that he had a potential conflict of interest.
I'm sure Yvonne Burke is pissed at Antonio now cause this was payback for her endorsement.
Kevin Roderick and Franklin Avenue are smelling some kind of foul odor.

Why would this be a payback? Isn't Billy Burke on enough committees already? do you really think he NEEDED the DWP commission appointment??

It actually says that Burke WITHDREW. It doesn't say the Mayor pulled him.
