On this day in 1998, after playing 2,632 consecutive games for the Baltimore Orioles, Cal Ripken, Jr takes a day off. Proof that some people still have a work ethic...
This is the city: Los Angeles, California. I work here. I'm an ex-mayor. Los Angeles is a magnet for people from all over the world. Some of them run for public office. Inevitably some of them stray from the golden rule and rule for those that have the gold. That's when I go to work. My name is Yorty. I'm a dead pol.

Yup Antonio is cleaning up city hall and had the nerve to bad mouth Hahn. Thanks McGreevey for reporting the facts. A couple of months ago we would have never seen such truth in the LA Times.
New CRA Panel Gets Mayor's Directive
John Perez, who is a first cousin to the mayor, said he would challenge the way the agency does business. He has already raised concerns about the size of a $262-million city subsidy and loan package for a hotel planned next to the Los Angeles Convention Center.

Mayor Sam these long posts are ridiculous. No wonder you've lost tons of traffic and don't get nearly the posts on articles you use to.
L.A.'s streets: Baghdad training camp..Daily News...
Whenever Army Reservist Tom Deluccia went on assignment into the streets of Baghdad, developing informants and getting tips about insurgent networks, he worried about losing a limb to a roadside bomb....So the LAPD officer found it ironic that, after coming home unscathed from a year's deployment in the war zone, he was shot in the hand by a gang member in Cypress Park.

Mayor Says He'll Abide by DWP Pay Decision
September 20, 2005
On the eve of a City Council vote on controversial pay raises for Department of Water and Power workers, Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa said Monday he would abide by any decision.
The package would increase the salaries of nearly 8,000 DWP workers by at least 17% over five years and possibly by as much as 34%, depending on inflation.
"It's in the council's court," the mayor said. "They are going to make a decision. When they do, I will support that decision, whatever it is."

A push to make school board appointments would pit Villaraigosa against some of his most ardent supporters. UTLA, which once employed Villaraigosa, spent $185,000 on radio ads to support him, and the California Teachers Assn. spent $500,000 on a television ad mocking Hahn's education record.
"Changing governance won't build one school, it won't buy one textbook," said John Perez, outgoing UTLA president and a Villaraigosa ally. "It will just create a system where the board members are much more distant from the community."

Prior to the Janice Hahn story and our "outing" since the elections ended we were averaging 7000 hits and about 3000 unique users per week.
Since then, we've had anywhere between 11,000 to 18,000 hits each week and 5500 to 8500 unique visitors.
Makes it kind of hard to say our traffic is down.

Antonio just showed his lack of leadership by stating in press today that he'll abide by what city council votes. Why couldn't he be a man and say where he stands on the issue? Cause he's afraid of his every move.
