Daily News....On police hiring, Villaraigosa said he has begun preparing his budget and looking for funds for the additional 1,000 officers he promised during his election campaign.
"It is going to be difficult, and we have to recognize that we might need some new revenues," Villaraigosa said. "I am looking to cut where we can, and that includes salaries for workers. But there comes a time when we have to be honest with ourselves. And if we want more police officers, it's going to cost us more money."
NOW HOW CAN CITY COUNCIL APPROVE THE DWP PAY HIKE TOMORROW IN CHAMBERS?

It don't be comin' from yur taxes, just yur ratepayers.
Mayor Villaraigosa, you mentioned you cut salaries for some workers....why not cut more salaries, but in city council by 50%.
2) Donate your profits from Downtown land deals to the city. We should have enough for 2,000 police officers.
3) Fire your relatives chosen for city jobs, by you, and put that money for more police officers.
4) Your CD 14 staff must depart from their positions A.S.A.P and you can also give that money for more police officers.

When Fabian Nunez took his trip to Mexico all he did was talk shit about our President, George Bush.
Why didn't he just stay in Mexico with Vicente Fox and his fellow drug traffickers? I don't know, he unfortunately came back...

So now Americans know what a "state of emergency" really looks like. (New Orleans)
In California, state Assembly Speaker Fabian Nunez was playing a different kind of politics when he used the phrase to tweak Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger. Nunez, a Democrat, insisted that Schwarzenegger follow the example set by Richardson and Napolitano and declare a "state of emergency" in the Golden State due to illegal immigration. Nunez was obviously trying to put the Republican governor in a tough spot — bash the administration or come across as soft on illegal immigration.
Political observers called Nunez's move "brilliant," but then he did something dumb. He followed up his remarks with a quick trip to Mexico City to meet Mexican President Vicente Fox. The Mexican officials pounced on Nunez. Were things really so bad in California? And if they were, then why weren't California officials willing to assume part of the blame?
For his part, Schwarzenegger didn't take the bait. In fact, in a letter to Nunez — dated before Katrina struck — the governor said that what California is experiencing at the moment doesn't bear even a faint resemblance to a real state of emergency.

Fabian Nunez is a disgrace. The "speaker" was a total lackey of Contreras (why did MC have to pay $35,000 to control a moron?). Why did Villaraigosa say "Fabian is going to be a household name in the future" Fabian Nunez the Cheech of democratic politics.
$35K to Fabian Nunez from MC. With all the millions Labor has, now that's a cheap whore. You should learn from Tony and become a high price call girl with high priced clients like Broad and Burkle. And what was that in the RECALL flyer about Parke Skelton getting money from Labor to oppose secession - this after Tony revived their dead effort with State millions? How much money did Parke get paid anyway?
Yeah, Fabian will become a household name as soon as his crime record gets out - wife battering still isn't kosher. And what about those hundreds of illegals out there who claim with pride that their "coyote" - or smuggler, was none other than the Speaker of the California State Assembly.
Besides the crime record, do you know what else Fabian and Antonio have in common. Antonio got to be the second most powerful person in this State of 25 million while mustering only 14,000 votes in 1994. Fabian did him one better, he got to be Speaker while only managing 11,000 votes! Let's hear it for California democracy in action!
Gotta love the booing Fabian Nunez got when he lower himself to an all time low talking about "negative campaigning." The boos were defeaning. He felt like an asshole then tried to fix it but was too late. LAT today states the trouble he's in as speaker.
Nunez being paid $35,000 a year, personally, not as a campaign contribution....by the way this is highly illegal.
How many votes in the City of L.A. did Fabian get when he ran for assembly -3500. Still a long way to go to make up that 40,000 vote deficit of 2001.
Fabian Nunez and Cindy Montanez are bound by two of the more lasting images of the Latino protest movement of the 1990s.

Antonio gives another payback for endorsement to John Perez who use to be prez of Teacher's Union. AV is really cleaning up city hall like he promised.
Mayor Villaraigosa today named his members of the Community Redevelopment Agency board. He kept on labor activist Madeline Janis-Aparicio and added John Perez from labor,
