Olympic Effort

The City of Los Angeles will announce plans to bid to host a third series of Olympic Games in 2016 today. This follows the loss of New York to get the 2012 games. You may remember it was Scott Blackmum of the Anschutz Entertainment Group (owners of the Staples Center and developer of the Home Depot Arena) who lobbied against New York getting the games.

We predicted at the time that LA would make a play for the 2016 Games (something that could not happen if New York had been awarded the 2012 Games) and sure enough here we are.

Here at the Sister City even though we think New York got a raw deal, we're all for the 2016 Games coming to LA and look forward to the two weeks of no traffic we'll have during the games' run.

That's in 2016? Eleven years might be enough time for LAX to be handle all those international flights coming in through Tom Bradley. But I'm not betting on it.

Great! Antonio won't be Mayor or Gov. and maybe by then who ever is our city leader would have gotten all the police officers we need. Who do you think will be working security?

AV could very well be governor then. It's the best scenario for him personally.

Since AV promised to get rid of the modernization plan, the question is will lax be ready?

I love your sense of humor,as in, "look forward to the two weeks of no traffic we'll have during the games' run."

Hilarious. Well done.

My hand is up and I have a question.

Mayor Sam,

Is there a local organization accepting clothing for the families that are being relocated to Los Angeles. I have a lot of good clothes I would like to donate.

L.A. County has setup 2-1-1, a phone number one can dial regarding the mobilization efforts that are taking place between L.A. County and the City of Los Angeles. That's probably the best place to start.

I thought that person was serious about the "no traffic". I thought there was some great plan or something... yeah right.

As for Antonio, I think he'll be the Vice President of the USA by 2016.

Will someone tell Antonio he won so he doesn't have to continue to campaign. People are getting sick and tired seeing him at all the photo ops. Since when does the Mayor go to school openings? Antonio is always out in the streets instead of his office at city hall actually getting some work done.

I called his office 20 times already, to offer assistance in form of product goods for Katrina Victims, no call back. His assistance is all for show, he is not running the help for the victims.
