Looks great Nick, but unfortunately, websites don't win races.
Isn't Wilson H.S. in Huizar's district? Here is a nice quote from today's LA Times:
"We're beyond the law. In a way, it's laughable and sad at the same time," said science teacher Kevin Bryan of Wilson High School, one of the nine Los Angeles campuses. "We've been on this list (No Child Left Behind List) for a long time. We've done so much to get off it, but we can't."
Huizar: What have you done about this?
A look at the two sites leaves me with the following impressions:
Pachueco represents the past. (Yes, he knows his way around City Hall. So does Mike Hernandez.)
Huizar is clearly headed for a major role in the district's and LA's future. (Impressed by Nick's 1st term? Huizar is better prepared than Pachueco was in '99).
This election is about the future.
You can't have a future if you don't know your history. Knowing the past is a plus for Pacheco because he can take us in to the future with lightning speed. Huizar would be like a deer with his eyes gazed at the headlights. If you don't have a past (e.g RECORD) one would be a much slower leader learning and making mistakes along the way. CD 14 deserves experienced proven leadership that is Pacheco.
the webpage blows. like every campaign & elected official site. all the same from a visual (photographs) + design perspective. Alarcón last yr. for his mayorship had a really nice one, but he lost.

Huizar is better prepared?! You haven't been to any of the debates, have you? Or maybe you missed that ABC event were little Pepe was afraid to take the mike. I'm sure you didn't catch last Sunday's debate where Huizar lost his cool because a couple of candidates - not Nick - where bringing out factual data on LAUSD. All Huizar could respond in a little whining voice was, "I don't know why these guys are picking on me."
Both Nick and Huizar had an elected position before running for city council. Nick on the Charter Commission, Jose on the LAUSD Board. Last I hear Antonio is taking full advantage of that Charter, can he say the same about our schools? Better prepared, keep dreaming.

The focus of the meeting will be "HATE & VIOLENCE: Resources for schools". The meeting is scheduled for Friday, September 30, 2005 from 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon. The location of the meeting will be at the LAUSD, Local District 5 Office, 2151 N. Soto Ave.
The website looked great. I signed up! I've been to three debates, the last on Sunday. Pacheco is the only one who gets it.
Too bad you Pacheco staffers don't even know the present CD 14 staffers. Yes they were there, but not from Eagle Rock and El Sereno. They were from Boyle Heights and present. I mean it only makes sense the staffer from Boyle Heights would be at a Boyle Heights meeting. But maybe you Pacheco staffers don't know since you were never at our meetings when you were in office. Oh, but now you care. Sass!!

Funny the Boyle Heights CD14 reps go to everything else accept the meetings in Boyle Heights. Where were they at the ABC meeting? Not a one in sight. Jose biggest mistake was not having the guts to go and speak. He showed all who were there that he was afraid. IF he's afraid to speak at a community meeting how afraid can he be of AV?

You admit you're involved with programs at WHS, maybe it's people like you, the wrong people, who can't even spell are the problem. Maybe your hearts in the right spot and you mean well, but you are not a problem solver and have become a poster child on this blog as to why JH is a joke!

As for Jose, as president of the school board he didn't keep his eye on the ball...how can he not be responsible for high schoools losing their accreditation when WASC gives you a list of issues to fix and a timetable to do them in? How many kids did he let down by having their diplomas made worthless?
Can't take a chance with him taking his eye off the ball representing CD14.
And he's kidding himself trying to blame anyone else for his neglect and lack of fiduciary responsiblity to the students of LAUSDn and the property owners of California who pay the money for our schools. He's the president and the buck stops with him.
Don't try to pull the wool over the readers of this blog. We are insiders and know the score, you just make us laugh at you when you talk bs and lies...
