Why Villaraigosa Won

Besides examples like this post, the answer is becoming obvious per the LA Times:

Antonio Villaraigosa spent twice as much as incumbent James K. Hahn to win the May runoff election for mayor of Los Angeles, according to the final tally of campaign finances filed Monday. The new mayor spent $5.2 million compared with $2.5 million for Hahn, although Hahn substantially outspent Villaraigosa in the March round of the mayoral election, the campaign reports show.

"It's a sign that a lot of people saw Jim wounded beyond salvation and got on the bandwagon with Villaraigosa," Levine said. "I am surprised by the size of the gap because generally incumbents are stronger fundraisers."

Combining the March and May phases of the election, Villaraigosa spent $8 million. Hahn spent $6.2 million.

"Z" Man from Daily Breeze did great stories on all that Florida money Antonio got during campaign. That's why its important for council to move the motion towards campaign reform that will stop this crap. Antonio was bought off plain and simple.

I am not critizing Mr. Hahn's choice of a new employer, a real estate developer, but that's typical of our system of government. With so much money at stake in the development of the area around "Where the Laker's Play" and the grand old LA downtown, we the voters will see where all the candidates campaign contributions come from. sick politics, the one with the most money wins, and yes the people lose! Sorry to say that Huizar will win due to having the most money....sick sick just sick. It does not matter what one has done or not done while holding a office. AV was bought and Huizar is being sold down our throats by AV

Can you guys in the CD 14 cut and paste bloggers team get off of it?

It is not about Pitiful Pacheco or CD 14. No one gives a rat's ass that Pacheco is pitiful and can't win an election or raise money for one. He is going down for the third time, and we all know what that means.

Antonio won because he knows how to raise money and gain support. That is what politicians do, in case you didn't take Politics 101.

Hahn lost, because he didn't do that; his surrogates were all waiting for indictments, so they didn't do it either.

Antonio gained the support and the money.

To paraphrase my grandson; "Antonio rules; Hahn drools".

Well, then Mr. AV lover, why don't you get off of it? The only reason why CD14 cut and pasters might have an say in things Villaraigosa is doing because before he was mayor, he was their councilman. Now that seat is open and whoever runs the seat may just be an extenion of AV's power. IT's a chain reaction:

Villaraigosa- CD14- Huizar/Pacheco-???
