Busy day in Mayor Land

Busy day in Mayor Villaraigosa's shop today. As posted earlier, Huizar was endorsed officially by not only Antonio, but Speaker Nunez, Controller Laura Chick, former Mayor Richard Riordan, and Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard. (No Boi, I didn't get the press release. Typical Huizy - he never sent it to us)

Pahceco's response: “Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa’s endorsement is not going to erase the fact that former School Board President Jose Huizar is responsible for 61% of Latinos dropping out, racial tension in our schools and overspending his 2003-2004 budget by a quarter of a billion dollars,” said Councilman Nick Pacheco.

In other news, Antonio appointed new people to his team:

Continuing to build a results-orientated administration inclusive of the best and brightest, Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa today announced key senior staff appointments who will oversee Homeland Security and Public Safety; Energy and the Environment; Legislative and Intergovernmental Affairs, and Communications as well as his Director of Finance and Performance Management.

The five new members of Mayor Villaraigosa's administration * Deputy Mayor Maurice Suh, Deputy Mayor Nancy Sutley, Deputy Mayor Kevin Acebo, Deputy Mayor Cecile Ablack and Director Karen Sisson * bring a breadth and depth of experience and talent to the Mayor's team and a commitment to innovative, results-oriented and ethical work.

"In selecting my team, I looked for people who brought with them a passion for public service, the highest ethical standards and a commitment to improving the quality of life for all Angelenos," said Mayor Villaraigosa. "I am pleased that this diverse and impressive group of individuals has agreed to serve our city."

If Tricky Nick thinks blaming the LA dropout rate on JH is the way to show leadership on education, he's demented.

well, I think Nick's comments were right on point. I want to vote for Huizar, but I can't find a single reason to do it.

It must be tough knowing that people like AV, Chick, Riordan and others are only supporting you because they hate Nick so much.

Jose is a regular George Bush, he keeps failing but there is no real competition.

Jose: This is an opportunity for you introduce yourself to the people in CD 14. Please make the most out of it because Nick is killing you right now.

Is there any reason to think Nick has anything to offer on education?

Now that it's official that Villaraigosa and Riordan are supporting Huizar and not Pacheco, do you think that Pacheco will remove their quotes in his educational mailer??? Just want to make sure that nobody gets the impression that they are supportive of Pacheco's efforts.

Can you CD 14 junkies leave Pacheco and Huizar for a minute to concentrate on the changes in government here?

These area all adults that Antonio is appointing. Look at their bios...far cry from the nobody Kiddie Korps of James K. Hahn, huh?

In particular, Deputy Mayor Kevin Acebo is someone that can get along with the Council and make things work. He will hit the ground running. What a great choice.

Kudos to the Mayor and Chief of Staff for the great picks.

Keep it up.

Most of these deputy mayor appointees seem well qualified. However, several of them lack LA City Hall experience. While this may help them bring a fresh perspective to an often stale institution, city hall can also eat outsiders alive (remember Riordan's Mike Keeley...and there are many others in the Hahn administration who were eaten alive by there lack of city hall insider status combined with their sheer incompetence.)

How pathetic to have the same people who endorsed AV do the same for Jose just because they want special favors from the mayor. It's a laugh in this city. Jose has maybe 5 things he's listing as accomplishments and yet most of them are lies. Jose tell the students at Roosevelt about your reduce drop out rate you moron. Daily News reported in their opinion piece LAUSD doesn't need more schools. They need a leader to do their job and get our kids the education they need.

I can see the headline 4 years from now...

"in other news, Villaraigosa appointed more new people to his team.

Maybe by 2009, he'll have the Animal Services Commission filled.

THOUSANDS OF APPLICANTS (crows Chief Faker elsewhere), and YET, nearly EVERY commissioner appointed so far by AV wrote him a BIG FAT juicy check for his mayoral campaign within the last six months.

OH, that's what's meant by "applicants" -- in AV's administration, you write you CV on the back of checks with lots of zeroes on the front.

CO-incidence?? NAAAAH!

CO-ercion. (Get a clue faithful zealots, AV is Hahn in better suits).

Chief Parker predicted Huizar outraising Pacheco 4 to 1, did that happen?

Here is another example of Huizar's ineptitude and that of his staff:

Underscoring the importance of Villaraigosa's support, Huizar's campaign mistakenly sent an e-mail to the media that said that the news release would quote only the mayor, not the other politicians, because "that's what we want printed." [Today's LA Times]

Huizar has outraised Pacheco 2 to 1:

Huizar = $160,897
Pacheco = $79,734

Not the slaughter that Chief Parker predicted, but definitely a strong sign as to what direction the waves of power are going. I think Pacheco even declared to run before Huizar, so that only makes it an even bigger accomplishment.

Now, let's see how much the other candidates have raised. That should be interesting.

Quick Nick not only declared first, he's been prepping this run since before he left office over two years ago -- when he got to work on that 70 pp. mother of all transition memos his minions keep harping about. Putting his name on the ballot for DA last year must have been part of the strategy (the method to his madness). He obviously started lining up support many months before JH.

Those endorsements, made it clear that I don't want to vote for Huizar OR Pacheco. All Pacheco is using CD14 for is his platform for a mayoral bid. And Huizar is there to suck on AV's political c**k and be his whipping boy.

Sleazy Huizy lists as an accomplishment "PUTTING highly qualified teachers in every classroom." Well I think Rocky disagrees.

FORMER SUBSTITUE TEACHER SENTENCED TO 270 DAYS JAIL FOR LEWD ACTS NEAR SCHOOLS
Conviction secured by City Attorney and LAPD.

Sleazy Huizy is coming off like a puppet. No balls, no experience, no knowledge. All he does is mention his endorsements. I use to like Jose but I can't stand how babish he's become. BE A MAN

I think people are quickly realizing Huizar is an empty suit, but is having a reckless person like Nick really better? I'm not so sure. If you want the status quo, vote for Huizar. If you want someone who make shake things up (that's a big MAY), then it may make sense to vote for Nick.

I still hold out hope that there may be a third candidate who people can support.

It sounds like AV wants Huizar on his team so he can control him. Smart move for AV, not so smart for Huizar. Jose will essentially allow AV to be mayor and CD 14 council member. So, when you take this thing full circle, AV really didn't break his pledge to complete his term since he'll end up being our councilman.

Let's not forget that CD10 is up for grabs too.

Asssembly Speaker Herb Wesson (AV supporter) is the front-runner in this election.

AV got a nice control of somethings:

He's got his pipesmoking budding Martin Ludlow as the Labor guy (i.e. can control him)

Getting Huizar to operate in CD14 (so AV can control him)

Getting Herb Wesson to operate in CD10 (so AV can control him)

Do you see a trend?

Is anybody in charge and performing a quality control?

The knuckle head is Alvin Parra. He leaked the letter to the LA Times. Who else? Didn't his wife run for LAUSD against David T.

David is another Riordan Boy. Parra will never be...

The closest he'll ever be to the machine, is working on Huizar's campaign.

Another BALL LESS wonder!

Hi Parke Skelton, Chief Parker "The Yes Man."

It is a shame that you post here using a nickname of sorts, but alas I understand your own demented mind. You belong in an insane asylum.

Also, why is the IRS looking into your personal assets and company? Have you been laundering public money through your business? Are you and AV laundering it together?
