Who's Hot -- Who's Not

The list that creates controversy and spurs debate in City Hall offices is back with its 3rd edition.

What a week, there has been much maneuvering on the list, in fact this week was the first time I've received e-mails lobbying me to be on the site. If you lobby to be on the list, you are not hot. Sorry.

HOT

1. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa -- There was some consideration of taking him down to number two this week, but i opened up today's Daily News, LA Times and Daily Breeze and all i saw was Antonio. That was enough to have him hold on to the number one position for one more week.

2. Jose Huizar -- Has shown the entire City that he will be a force to reckon with -- out-raising his opponent by almost 3:1 -- securing the heavyweight endorsements of Mayor Villaraigosa, Richard Riordan and Speaker Fabian Nunez. We all know money and endorsements aren't everything, but we've seen recently that those with the ability to communicate effectively with voters ultimately win. Huizar is on a glide path to victory.

3. IBEW - Showing SEIU how to really operate, this union has maneuvered a contract that pays respect to its membership. For those critics that take umbrage with IBEW, please understand that this is their job. To best represent it's employees, and IBEW has made the play of the week. Whether we like it or not.

4. Martini Republic --Has taken it upon himself (mailander) to go toe to toe with Kevin Roderick over at LA Observe. While entertaining it shows that the blog community is growing and having lively debates with what is appropriate and what is not.

5. Mayor Frank Shaw - Well its not something i'd personally want to do -- applaud a fellow blogger. The number of responses and e-mails we've received from the community have increased ten-fold because of the insightful and thoughtful analysis the Mayor provides especially with the Port issue.

NOT HOT

1. Nick Pacheco -- Quotes the new Mayor in his first mailer, yet doesn't have the support of the new Mayor. Has communicated about his interest long before any other candidate about running for CD 14 , yet can't raise any money. Claims to support the Mayor, yet donates to Jim Hahn 2 weeks before election day. Nick Pacheco is the case study for all students of politics of what NOT to do.

2. Walter Moore -- I am fairly certain that by just appearing on the "not hot" list he's getting more attention that he deserves. But last night my post was merely for sport.

3. Eliseo Villanueva -- I would not have placed this lame, long-gone weirdo on the list, if it wasn't for all the interest he is raising. I've received 8 e-mails asking this site to investigate certain items regarding Mr. Eliseo. Folks long interested in the recalls activities are now trying to gather certain information.

4. Jim Hahn -- Even out of office the City has to deal with all the crap he has left the City. The IBEW deal doesn't bode well for the City, and Jim Hahn the CEO of the City let this occur under his watch.

5. CD 14 Cut and Paste Crew -- Your antics have proved fruitless, leave well enough alone and go back to watching soap operas and writing unpublished letters to the editor.

Til next week.

Chief Parker is the most popular of all the Sister City bloggers.

God rest his soul and the retired watch he wears everyday.

Speaking of Hot! What about Jonathan Levey in AD 41. He started the race 3 months ago and has raised $233,000. His closest opponent, Barry Grovman, has $263,000 but $100,000 of that is his own money. Meanwhile, Julia Brownley, Sheila Khuels candidate, has $80,000; Louise Rishoff, Fran Pavleys candidate, has $53,000(including a $25,000 loan); and Kelly Hayes Raitt, Richie Ross' candidate, has $50,000.

Who the hell is this guy? Has anyone ever seen him? I heard he was trying out for the Bachelor, too.

sheesh, I appreciate the initiative taken on this site to get into the workings of LA politics, but Chief Parker, can't your "insider" information and opinions go a little beyond constantly blasting Nick Pacheco and boosting Jose Huizar and Antonio? There are other people and other places in the City, you know...

Yesiree! the Chief is by far the most popular. But don't you kind of miss MEAT? Is he really doing law school in AZ or just some law correspondence course through the University of Phoenix? Either way, please come back. You are needed.

HOTTEST of the HOT = 80 (or 101?) Neighborhood Watches in CD14 that the phoney-baloney, Chief Faker "found" (but kept a BIG secret from everyone, including the police), during the mayor's race.

Is is "hot" to lie like a bad rug in order to keep your preferred candidate from looking like a thief and liar himself (after stealing two year salary from the city). Must be... Faker is STILL putting the bullshit out there, like he knows it from Shinola.

Put up or Shut Up, Parker... you PROMISED to detail those bogus neighborhood watches MONTHS ago. Archives show you made that promise on FIVE different occasions (just to shut CD14 people-in-the-know up about saying AV did NOTHING as the councilmember).

And now, you're taking aim at ANYBODY who dares to say "he's STILL doing nothing."

I know in AV-land, promises aren't worth spit... but UNTIL you keeep that 5X vow -- NO ONE should believe a WORD you say, never, ever.

BS, BS, BS...

The only "controversy" with the list is how a lying, cold fish turd like Parker could profess to know what's "hot."

What a disgrace.

Someday, believe it or not, "honesty in government" will be hot.

What then, ADV-lovers???

Nowhere to go but away.

Huizar is hot because Antonio is hot. He even screwed up on announcing AV's support (see Today's Times).

Chief Parker,

Nick must be hot since you pay so much attention to him.

That is okay, he will work with you when he gets elected.

Making sure all kids in his district get the opportunity to go to pre-school is important to him.

Cheif Parker,

You have funny math. How is $160 to $80 3:1? You have a funny way to add. That is 2:1. Jose is going to need 4:1 just to be competitive.

Jose Huizar or what they are calling him in El Sereno now "The Weazel" is a below average politician and sub-standard School Board Member.

The 14th Council District will reject his feable attempt to lead the district and will make sure there will be a candidate to take him in 2009.

Watch out Jose, it will be a bumpy ride for the next four years.

Thanks for your support.

Sleazy Huizy is nothing more than Antonio's bitch these days. He is a moron with no experience and is riding on Antonio and his endorsers coat tails. Where's Jose's list of accomplishments? LAUSD has never been in a bigger mess. Parents can't stand Jose and won't vote for him.

Antonio is NOY HOT. He just loves the camera and instead of spending his time doing some real work is out politicking. He's appointing family members, friends who gave him money for campaign, special interests etc to commission boards. No one believed he was going to clean up city hall.

At least Pacheco is man enough to run on his own and with a solid record of accomplishments in CD14. Sleazy Huizy is acting more and more like a needy woman to the community.

Thanks, Chief. I don't profess to follow City Hall with intensity, but I do watch carefully the information channels coming out of it. We all gain when there are more voices. I hope some of the commentators here consider commencing blogs of their own. All the proprietary departments, and beyond them also and especially the School District, could all benefit from the transparency availed by insider blogs.
