The Straight Guy?

Something has come across my desk that is really interesting. It actually created more questions than solves and has me scratching my head asking "what the hell was he thinking?"

It involves our Governor.

As our Governor of this great state many folks far and wide want to honor him and give him gifts. Sometimes the Governor has had to return those gifts because they either exceed the gift price limit or because its just bad taste.

Some of the gifts the Governor has received include:

Pair of California Bear Cufflinks - from Kukor Kocek
A Coffee Table Book - from Rob Lowe
Wood Humidor - from Daniel Marshall
Porcelain Eagle decanter with vodka - from the Olympic Lifting Team
3 t-shirts, 1 hat & 4 beer holders - from Dwayne Machinski
Personalized Laker Jersey - from Tim Leiweke
Desk pad with Silver picture holder - from Kin Abdullah of Jordan

Great gifts right?

Yes and no -- those gifts sound great and all but i'd like to investigate one of the items a little more closely.

The 3 shirts, hat and beer holders for a second.

Dwayne Machinski is the owner and operator of a website called str8guy.com - again nothing wrong with that, yet.

But what he gave the Governor should be concerning to most non-hating Californians.

Here is what the Governor accepted.

Just in case you can't read this - it says "We Suck Suds Not Puds"

Go here for all the straight guy goodness.

Hate language like this doesn't belong on our Governor's beer or his back.

Give it back Governor -- the $73.00 these gifts are worth aren't worth the possible backlash.

I wonder what boi from troy thinks.

For those that are researching, you may find it fabrication on the part of Villaraigosa's office, or find it to be true...I'll leave it up to you. I'm off on another search. Keep in mind these are claims from Villaraigosa and his staff, so I have no idea if the report was an honest one to the public or if they lied to the public. They did not list 64 watches or 80+, just the 5 places mentioned below as information.

In a Villaraigosa & Staff report it was published as follows,

"T64 New Neighborhood WatchAssociationsOver the past 12 months, we organized andassisted 64 new Neighborhood Watchassociations throughout the 14thCouncil District. Our office works with new and existing Neighborhood Watch associations on a wide range of issues from clearing bulky items that degrade a neighborhood to requesting enforcement against nuisance bars, gangs and drug sales and providing information on City services. Some of the neighbors we helped in our first year have been living in fear for the past decade or longer. Some of the notable highlights from our first year include:
Cazador Street
Alumni Avenue Neighborhood Watch
Jovenes Neighborhood Watch
Eagle Rock Lutheran Church
El Sereno Business Watch

Poster,
I'm giving them them an opportunity to save their asses right now.

I'm not blind to the fact that no one can produce proof of the 80+ neighborhood watch groups. I'm disgusted of the fact that it was used in the campaign. By saying to you, "so I have no idea if the report was an honest one to the public" was to challenge this report. It stated that they accomplished 64 new neighborhood watches in the last 12 months" and I want to see the proof too. Chief Parker has his views and his own reasons to persistently support villaraigosa statement of 80+ Neighborhood watches. I on the other hand find it absolutely disgusting if a cover up is being made as we speak for the sake of not damaging a Huizar campaign. All of this at who's expense--The People.

The post was to show some of you that have not seen it, the printed information that was said of the neighborhood watch accomplishments by the Villaraigosa and staff. Cyberlady, you must not have been here, during the mayoral race. Take a minute and look through Parker's posts the last few weeks before the May election on Mayor Sam's.

He didn't just have "views and his own reasons to persistently support villaraigosa," he said repeatedly that HE had his own proof, independently obtained, outside of the campaign and CD staff. Through his own leg work,he knew that there were more than 100 neighborhood watches in CD14, based on his own count -- and that was proof that Villaraigosa told the truth and earned his paycheck of $150,000 a year. Especially since the only achievements the campaign listed for while AV was on council were "80 watches and (some small number of) community cleanups."

Those cleanups, by the way, are actually organized by Clean Sweep/Board of Public Works, after they get a single phone council from the CD staff. They also didn't start until after AV announced for mayor, and each one was used as a campaign tool to raise his visibility.

To have 100+ "neighborhood watch organizations" in CD14 (a district with less than 15 distinct "neighborhoods" LAPD senior officers would have to be meeting with two groups every night of the week, every day of the month, just to have monthly meetings.

There would have to be one group for every 2,000 people in the district (the average CD14 community has 20-25 thousand residents.

There would have to be hundreds of (new) block and precint captains and thousands of (new) participants.

The police would never have time to answer a distress call. They would always be going from one meeting to another.

Sparks fly at debate for L.A.'s top job
Mayor Hahn and Councilman Villaraigosa clash over such issues as ethics and public safety.
By David Zahniser

I think it's time to take responsibility for your actions and admit that you made a mistake when you put your chief fund-raiser in charge of the chicken coop," Villaraigosa said.

"He no longer works for me," Hahn responded. "So I did take responsibility for that."

Villaraigosa quickly came back: "Did he resign or did you fire him?"

"He left," Hahn answered.

"There you go again, Jimmy," Villaraigosa said, "failing to take responsibility for your actions."

Villaraigosa later talked up his own track record at City Hall, saying he had created 80 neighborhood watch groups, organized more than 6,000 volunteers and brought people together to take back their neighborhoods.

That brought a sharp retort from Hahn, who accused the councilman of accomplishing little since his election in 2003.

"Villaraigosa's ambition alienates some"
By Rick Orlov
Staff Writer

"...As councilman, Villaraigosa's office recently put out a 30-page booklet of his accomplishments in his first 18 months in office, which included such routine items as staffing field offices, publishing a community directory and responding to constituent complaints.

But he also points to boosting community involvement, claiming to have created 80 Neighborhood Watch programs and launching a "Day of Community Service" program, which helped put more than 6,000 people in community cleanup activities.

The most persistent criticism of Villaraigosa - from those who support him and those who oppose him - is his ambition.

"You always have the sense that he is looking over your shoulder when he's talking to you to see who else is coming in the room," said one longtime ally, who refused to be identified. "Antonio is always reaching for the brass ring. Sometimes, I would like to tell him he doesn't have to do that. That it will come if he works hard..."

His lone vote against Playa Vista Phase 2, a massive 2,600-unit housing and commercial development near the environmental battlefield of the Ballona Wetlands, has made him the political hero for many in the Westside. “Villaraigosa has support here because of that one vote,” says Westside resident Jim Ciment.

Honestly. Really honestly. Who the fuck cares about a goddamn campaign promise about neighborhood watches in one of the shitiest, poorest, parts of town? I sure as hell don't.

Visit the people in the Valley, do the care? The Westside? Mid-Wilshire? Silver Lake? Nobody cares. SO WHAT if the mayor used his council seat to run for further office.

The 14th is a historically underserved and discriminated against district. Is this really such a shock?

Fuck CD14. Half your damn constituents can't read english, and the other half are illegal immigrants. Why should an elected official feel the need to serve people that are politically invisible? Their fucking "oath of office"?! Give me a break. The day our democracy depends on scruples, is the day hell freezes over.

"Accountablility, accountability, blah, blah, blah.", get over yourselves. Get elected, and see what happens to your sense of morality. To lead, you must court hypocrisy - read some Machiavelli you swine.

If there is a story for the press, they will pick it up in due time, you retards. Quit pissing in everyone's well by ruining this blog.

How am I supposed to read Machiavelli if I'm illiterate? Is it available as books-on-tape, or maybe a 3 stooges movie?

I hear your pain, 6:15 p.m.

Half the district is illiterate, and Jose Huizar is the school board guy for. . . HALF THE DISTRICT.

Half the district is illegal, and Antonio Villaraigosa served as half-assed, half-baked, half-cocked (so I hear), out-of-the city half-the-time, HALF TERM as its councilmember.

I think that about wraps up the play-by play!

Thanks. I also don't give a shit about what these same people keep parroting. Who cares! The only ones who do are the same 1 or 2 who keep disrupting a thread.

Hey neighborhood watch obsessive/compulsive person - SHUT THE FUCK UP! If you have a problem either open your own goddam blog or go talk to Villaraigosa your own goddam self! The rest of us don't FUCKING CARE. Jesus...did you lose your prescription?
