From: Fortuna Ippoliti 8/16/2005
Dear Friends and Colleagues,
It is with bittersweet sadness that I write to inform you that I will be leaving the office of Councilmember Jack Weiss. It has been a pleasure working with each of you as Field Deputy for the past four years. You have all taught me a great deal, and I will use this knowledge at my new job.
I am proud to announce that I will now be the new SFV Area Director for Mayor Villaraigosa effective August 31, 2005. I know that this job is challenging, and I will strive to do my very best. My new office will be (temporarily) in the Braude Building until the new Van Nuys City Hall is completed. My new phone is 818) 778-4990. I look forward to meeting and working with you all in the near future.
All my best,
Fortuna B. Ippoliti

Interesting Antonio named the domestic violence retired commander Paul Kim to Transportation Commission. His daughter had to call the police and have him arrested for beating up mommy then Parks promotes him. Paul Kim all but 10 Asian police officers to endorse Antonio so he could say the rank and file support him. They hate him.

Shelby Kaplan-Sloan was the first chair of the Zoo Commission when it was formed under Riordan. She did a great job and took on the Director Manuel Mollinedo, when he was caught selling animals to the hunts.
When Jimmy Hahn became Mayor, he took her off so he could appoint the wife of his buddy, John Emerson.
Shelby is loved and admired by all Zoo personnel, especially the keepers, who worked hard to convince the Mayor to put her back on the commission.
She is knowledgeable and smart, and will make the Zoo a better place for all of us.
Another adult appointed by the Mayor.

Anyone want to guess WHAT percentage of these people gave Villaraigosa's campaign money in the past year??
50 percent
70 percent
99.99 percent
Yes, they're QUALIFIED! (Their checks cleared).
Anonymous said:
Heck, one of them was the campaign treasurer.
Anonymous said:
Who is he supposed to appoint?
Eliseo Villanueva? Ricardo Torres, III? Maybe Nick Pacheco?
Hell, they didn't give him any money!
Anonymous said:
much props to York Chang!!!

Have any indictments been handed to the new admnistration yet?

Fortuna is awesome. Make AV llok good. At least he will have some professionals on his staff that know how to deal with the people who got him elected. The AV staffers from his Council office may give you trouble because you will know what you are doing.
This is a win for the valley!!!
Good choice Mayor V.

Anyone else notice how AV appoints a Hispanic female to almost every board? One who happens to be around his age or younger, and crossed paths with him at some point?
You can draw the parallels for yourself. But my bet is that if Clinton's appointees were as non-scrutinized as AV's, there'd have been no Paula Jones controversy.

But there is no way that AV was ever involved with Dalila Sotelo. Good god, the man has some standards!
Anonymous said:
I agree with the previous blogger. Dalila is sort of at the bottom of the barrel. I don't think AV is there yet, give him a few years, maybe she loses a few opunds and gets a better attitude.

Hey does everyone know that Chief Parker also doubles up as Cyberlady.

IS it true that Dalila and Elena Popp are an item?

The only thing people noticed was that you suggested the only way a Latina can get an appointed position is by sleeping her way into it, not her qualifications. The insult is to women and particularly Latinas.
Guess that makes you a sexist pig AND a racist. Thanks for making that point clear for everyone!

These are some fine picks for commissioners. Antonio has made some good picks here and I think they definately represent the breadth and width of our city's diversity.

Fortuna is HOT. HOT! She is an excellent ho, and Jack's loss is definitely Antonio's gain.

ANONYMOUS - Retired Commander Paul Kim was my Captain at West Traffic Division. He was well liked by the traffic cops and respected for his concerns toward the guys. In addition, he was a great leader and was always willing to hear the voice of experience (Senior Officers, and Detectives). He would never have received the management award if he was not dedicated to the City or the organization.
