Anointed by Antonio - Herb Wesson Wins CD 10

Robert Greene of the LA Weekly brings us a web exclusive entitled "Anointed by Antonio - How Herb Wesson won an election without a vote of the people"

The election to replace Martin Ludlow as city councilman took place this week and, well, sorry, voters of the 10th district, but you weren’t invited. If you want to feel like you still count, you can drop by the voting booth on November 8 and mark your ballot. In fact, you should. It will look nice. But if you’re busy that day, don’t worry about it, because it doesn’t really make any difference. You’re getting Herb Wesson.

That’s because Thursday was the last day for would-be candidates to file their completed nomination papers, and by the end of the day there were only two who had done so and were deemed qualified: Wesson, your new councilman (congratulations!), and Barry E. Levine, who we’ll get to in a moment.

How is this all that much different than CD14's ABSENTEE councilmember for the past two years endorsing Jose Huizar virtually on day one?

Just a formality.

Does anyone have a problem with Herb stating that his interest is in another office and he is just parking his ass on the Council until the old lady croaks or retires.

Now you are going to have two former Speakers on the City Council that make Hahn's pay to play look like child's play.

I wonder what will be the first city asset to be sold.

Since Fairchild was effectively Bought-out of the race by Villaraigosa to sit in some bullshit position.

Wesson will basically win the election because;
1) the press hasn't mentioned CD10 race and thus lowers voter turnout for the other folks in the race.

2)The same press is sucking AV's cock and focusing on getting Huizar elected.

Now 'Villain'raigosa Machine of LA will officially begin because they'll sit on the Ethics Committee, which means they'll cover up all of AV's lies and corruption because they head the committee that specializes in that.

Chief Parker,

You got it all wrong.

CD14 is not afraid of AV as they are in CD10. people came out of the woodwork to replace Antonio as Councilmember because they feel they can all do a better job than AV did as Councilmember. Actually most of us can.

So this is not a reflection on Pacheco but a reflection on Antonio as a Councilmember unless you are saying Pacheco is the incumbent?

Democracy lives in CD14 even though AV wanted to kill it off early in CD14 too by coming out at least two weeks early to endorse Huizar.

My bet is that if Pacheco was not running than maybe democracy would not live in CD14. Pacheco is the last thing stopping AV from permanantly becoming Mayor and Councilmember at the same time. Huizar will be there but we all know he is just a puppet.

Huizar is a "Flunkee" of AV just like a majority of students are "Flunkees" of LAUSD.

Huizar lives in a world of flunkees so he decided to become one.

Way to go Jose!

If CD10 is excited to have Wesson, that means they don't care about their futures as much as the CD14 people do.

Its really sad over all. The guy will be there less than a year and they get a new councilman all over again.

I never thought I would say it, but I miss Nate Holden.

Sorry to see Denise sold out. Lost a lot of respect for her.

Go suck dick Mayor Sam!
Nate Holden was a piece of shit of the worst kind. He and Cunningham are the reason Ludlow had such a hard time getting new investment to improve this blighted district.

Holden makes Lauro Pachueco look like an altar boy!

Chief parker wrote: "CD 14 has a handful of solid community activists qualifying for the race". Are you kidding? Apparently you haven't haven't heard these community activists respond to questions about CD14 in a public debate. 500 signatures and a little community service does not qualify you to govern a city like LA. Give me a break. Smokey the bear could run with those standards.
