Mayor Sam on CNN
Today on CNN at approximately 1:59pm --Wolf Blitzer's situation room had the blog report on. Everyday these two relatively hot blog reporters report on the "cool political" blogs and the stories of the day.
They were reporting on the Janice Hahn story.
Thanks to all who contributed to this story -- this was a "sister team" effort.
I'll try to get a transcript and report on every word said.
**Update**
Below are the transcripts
CNN
SHOW: THE SITUATION ROOM 3:00 PM EST
August 15, 2005 Monday
TRANSCRIPT: 081502CN.V16SECTION: NEWS; InternationalLENGTH: 7560 words
TATTON: There was one story that was out in L.A. that we really wanted to bring you, the power of the blogs there. This is Mayor Sam's Sister City. When councilwoman Janice Hahn parked, or her car was parked in Los Angeles last week in a disabled spot, parked illegally, it was in an illegal spot it was spotted by a couple bloggers who had a digital camera and posted those pictures online. In their words, this was in clear violation of city rules and a true abuse of power.
Other people posted pictures also of the car to verify that this was indeed the same license plate, and because of this blog, councilwoman Janice Hahn had to give a statement saying, "I'm embarrassed, absolutely embarrassed," that she was called out in this way. She says she wasn't the one who parked the car, "It was something that I personally would never do." So the power of the blogs, you can't get away with anything anymore.
BLITZER: All right. Abbi and Jacki, thanks very much for that useful information. We'll get back with you.
More Blog Coverage:
Our friends at Independent Sources envied us being picked up by the LA Times. Uh, they probably didn't know about the CNN piece when they wrote this. But thanks guys for the shout out!
We also understand that KNBC picked up the story, but we didn't see it. If you did, let us know, thanks.

Congrats, Mayor Sam for the excellent scoop on Janice Hahn's hate for handicap people.

Good job! You're making the big time!

Way to go Mayor Sam. Too bad no one caught the intelligent statement she made last week at a Council meeting regarding BFI and Sunshine Canyon, "It takes a crisis to put us in crisis mode". Duh...

Who was the "staffer" she claims parked her car and what does "severely reprimanded" mean?

Stuart Waldman is not Mayor Sam. He could never keep a secret this long.

Stuart Waldamn could not be Mayor Sam. He cannot spell. How did he get through law school? Did Bob proof his briefs?

Stuart is not Mayor Sam. Mayor Sam doesn't take himself seriously and even jokes about himself.
Stu is too thin skinned.

GREAT, I can't wait to find out what CNN reporter covered this, and tip him off to Chief Faker's absurd lies covering for ADV and his fake 80 neighborhood watches in CD14.
(100+ new neighborhood watches in a district with less than 20 neighborhoods!)
Talk about HANDICAPPED!
Maybe we can get Sleazy Huizy to promise us 70-80 more if he becomes council-wimp. Might as well keep the lie up, since no one's watching the people with the REAL power, telling the REAL lies (we're watching where people park their cars not where they're parking our tax dollars).
No wonder CNN is sliding into the cable basement further every day.
Anonymous said:
I don't thinkn CNN will cover AV or Huizy and the Neighborhood Watches.
It doesn't make for as good a cable TV fodder as an able bodied politician (or her aide) parking in a disabled spot.
People don't like that kind of stuff. They are however, use to folks like Antonio not coming through with the goods.

How sweet it is!

Congrats Mayor Sam!!! Now maybe you can stop being PRO ANTONIO.
Can't anyone in this city have a press conference without Antonio budding in? Chief Bratton had a press conf. on a public investigative team for Pena shooting and there's AV talking about "HIS" police dept. Someone tell him that arrogant attitude is getting old. Tomorrow Rocky is having a press conf. on getting a gang injunction on one of the most notorius gangs BIG HAZARD and Antonio will be there. Antonio had absolutely nothing to do with this gang injunction and in fact supported the gang bangers as an ACLU rep. Talk about being a hypocrite!!
Anonymous said:
Any more FAKE neighborhood watches in your e-mail system, Chief Faker?
Your words aren't worth the spit it takes you to form them as long as your legacy is lies like THAT one.
Anonymous said:
For Antonio, a day without a press conference is like, well. . . having to really do some WORK for the city!?
(Like that's gonna happen anytime before the next election cycle).
Anonymous said:
There's got to be someone out there that will want to examine how AV got to be mayor on the back of lies about his term in City Council (80 fake neighborhood watches at the cost of $300K), especially when he continues to stumble over his own false promises and rhetoric in the coming months (and he can't help that -- he owes everyone in town, everything).
Mayor Sam, thanks for the forum to keep reminding people and the media that 1) Antonio lied about his record repeatedly and has no business being mayor, and 2) Chief Faker covered for him, and has no credibility.

Antonio showing up against a BIG HAZARD GANG injunction is a NO NO for him. He will not be welcomed in HAZARD.

Hypocrisy is the name of Tony's game. And Parke, his consultant, makes sure he keeps the blinders on the unsuspecting public. Wait and see, el alcalde will self destruct. This would have happened when he was Assembly Speaker if not for term limits. And as a councilman he only spent a couple of weeks in his district so there wasn't enough time to self destruct. But under a national spot light as mayor, it's only a matter of time.

Antonio was kicked out of Santa Teresita elementary which is smack in the middle of Big Hazard turf. Will he be at the press conference supporting Rocky or there on behalf of his hoodlum friends?
Anonymous said:
Congrats Mayor Sam!!!
Good point 5:35 anon. Antonio supports gang bangers and in fact helped the VNE gang's families when Rocky was going after them in Estrada Courts. What I want to know is WHY Antonio will be at Rocky's press conf against the gang injunction? He doesn't support gang injunctions and in fact slammed Hahn when he wanted a citywide one. If I were Rocky I wld tell him he has no business there. Again, trying to take credit for something he had nothing to do with.

It might be too dangerous to begin hypocrisy again for Mayor AV. Hazard has people all over the place. AV does not live too far for any one of them, I say to AV if this is not your project do not get involved.
Anonymous said:
Next we'll see Mayor Sam on the cover of People magazine.
You guys went after the neighborhood council people for using old letterhead with Hahn's name still on it. Antonio couldn't even start his own website and all he's done is take Hahn's picture off and put his little face on. TEAMWORKS LA was a Hahn project that rolls across the top. Antonio do your own mayor website and quit using Hahn's.
Anonymous said:
Antonio, is there not one event you might not hog up the credit from? Let the people who started these projects take credit, why take it away from them. You are probably what we call in the Latino Community "No saber a qué carta quedarse, No te arriendo las ganancias, Que cada palo aguante su vela."

Who the hell does Antonio think he is? He's the one with a rap record and associates with drug dealers and yet he is quoted as saying..."This is the spirit of openness and transparency that I will continue to demand from the LAPD, and that Chief Bratton is absolutely committed to," he said.
DEMAND??? IDIOT! No wonder why the rank and file can't stand Antonio as mayor.

I just got home from the Mt. Washington Home Alliance debate between Huizy and Nicky Poo. First, let me get this off my chest, Nick, you must of said "Boyle Heights" more than a hundred times, even when questions were about Mt. Washington and Glassel Park. Second of all, Nick, you're fucking boring! Shit, you put my wife to sleep with your lame ass answers, "in Boyle Heights... I did... BLAH, BLAH...."
Third, after listening to you for more than a hour and a half, I still don't know what you did in CD 14 or what you plan on doing if you are reelected. Oh yeah, you'll defer to the mayor (direct quote follows: "the one with the biggest bat..") on any Southwest Museum-related items. Not only did you sound like a complete idiot, but you basically compared MAV to Tommy Lee and his monster 15 inch cock.
All in all, Pacheco got his ass handed to him tonight by a well versed Huizy. I was impressed with Huizy's fresh passion and his knowledge of CD 14.
As for Nick, "in Boyle Heights..." FUCKER, it's not all about Boyle Heights, asshole!
Anonymous said:
Were you at the same debate. The fabrication of your post is an example of how Huizee lovers will twist and twist any information.
Pacheco was not boring. He did great. Huizar was slow a couple of times in answering and look confused towards specific questions.
Your wife was put to sleep because she is stuck with you.
Anonymous said:
Huizy twister? Oh yeah, I did see you at the baby, weren't you the baby in diapers who wouldn't stop crying. But, then again, all the Pacheco supporters were all under 12 or holding a bottle.
On another note, you spent more time on your post talking Huizy than you did talking about Nicky P. Oh yeah, I forgot, there's not much to say.
What about Nick deferring to the Mayor on the Southwest Museum issue? Any response on that? "In Boyle Heights... I have ...." He had absoulutely nothing to say worth listening to. And, neither do you!

Both 9:03 & 9:12 Stop the bickering and tell us bloggers who did not attend what was impressive about the debate and any advice to them. This would be much more helpful to all of us bloggers.

How about a separate post Mayor Sam, Frank or Parker about the Pacheco-Huizar debate. Some of us still want to comment on the coverage of Janice "I Didn't See the Handicapped Parking Space Sign" Hahn.

If the debate over Sunshine Canyon Landfill proved anything over the past two weeks, it may have been the truth voiced years ago by then-City Councilman Gil Lindsay.
"The problem with City Hall," he once noted during a lengthy debate, "is that it takes too long to get nothing done."

Special election may steal the show
"I think everybody is going to have one foot on the special election and the other foot on the Legislature," Assembly Speaker Fabian Núñez said. "It would be wrong to say that legislative actions in the next couple of weeks are going to have everybody's undivided attention."
Núñez, D-Los Angeles, will focus this week on last-minute negotiating with Schwarzenegger on an agreement that would avoid a costly political showdown in a Nov. 8 special election. Senate President Pro Tem Don Perata, D-Oakland, has asked for the special election to be canceled and could negotiate with the Republican governor this week as well.
Still, Núñez said he will pursue three issues in particular over the final legislative month: education, low-cost prescription drugs and a $10 billion transportation bond.
Núñez said he hopes to seek as much as $3 billion in education funds - which Democrats believe schools are owed through a 2004 deal with Schwarzenegger. Though the Assembly earlier this year killed a plan to increase tax rates for the highest-income earners, Núñez said he still believes that idea is "the best way to do it" and could be revived in the next month.

Hispanic groups such as LULAC, MeCHA and National GI Forum hate to see patriotic groups such as the Minutemen flourish because their “gig” has been threatened. These groups advocate an open border without restrictions.
The drug cartels are against the securing of our borders because it affects their profits. Many of the drug lords are multi-billionaires. They want a porous border so they can sneak illegal drugs on the backs of illegal migrants.
The Mexican Government loves illegal immigration and even publishes a pamphlet on how to survive the dangers of harsh environments faced by their journeys.

If all you Antonio haters had spent as much time working as you do spinning, maybe Eliseo would have had some signatures on the petition to recall Councilman Villaraigosa and Nicky could have had his seat back that the mean, nasty man took away from him.
But no, you'd rather talk about some neighborhood watches and call people names than just go out and do a decent days work, knocking on doors and wearing out shoe leather.
Well, guess what; we're all on to you guys and the game is over.
No one in their right mind would want Pacheco back in the seat, where he abuses and ridicules honest people trying to get his vote on issues that mean so much to them.
Pacheco is an arrogant fool, and his buddies Torres, III and Villanueva ought to pack their bags and go somewhere else where the folks don;t know them as well.
Your 15 minutes are up, guys.

JOse huizar said emphatically last night that he was in favor of changing Prop 13. He wants to split roll it.
Nail in his coffine number 1.
Coming out of the gate talking about split rolling 13 which will send more money to the county and not the City of Los Angeles , is not a good thing. The City needs money.
Jose put me to sleep a couple of times, that is for sure. The questions were boring .
I do agree with PAcheco as being realistic about deferring to Antonio Villaraigosa, that statement comes from experience in understanding who should lead the charge in certain situations , the mayor can work across disrict lines , considering there is nothing but territorialism amongst the councilmembers. GOes to show who understands the way this city works , surely not Jose Huizar.
On the southwest musuem , yeah , Tom Labonge is going to allow a money maker for his district for tourism to stay in cd 14. Whatever .
Antonio has a good relationship with Tom LAbonge. A great one. But I forsee Tom still fighing for his district.
