Heard in the City Halls

Item #9 on Tuesday’s council agenda puts Cynthia Ruiz before the city council for a vote, as she looks to finalize her appointment to the Board of Public works. This is the second time around for Ruiz who was a Hahn appointee, but was removed after she endorsed AV for Mayor. If approved, Ruiz will be paid $108,179.

The search for a new Chief Legislative Analyst is forging ahead tomorrow as the ad hoc committee will convene in order to receive input from “The Mercer Group” and other interested parties. A letter from “The Mercer Group,” was circulated around city hall mentioning that 47 resumes resulted from their recruitment effort, 20 have been deemed most qualified and may be scheduled for interviews. The position, which was vacated by now DWP General Manager Ron Deaton, has been filled by Gerry Miller, who is reportedly one of those 47 resumes.

Word has it that Leslie Pollner of Wendy Greuel’s office has been promoted to Deputy Chief of Staff. No word on who will replace Janelle Erickson who left Greuel earlier this month to become spokeswoman for MAV.

UPDATE: Also, tomorrow the city council will consider extending a contract with Browning-Ferris Industries (BFI) to continue use of the always popular Sunshine Canyon landfill for five more years.

Sure Antonio promised he would clean up city hall and not appoint his friends. Let's see, he's already appointed friends like John Mack to police commission, Larry Frank got a good paying Deputy Mayor job, and now Cynthia Ruiz who was on Antonio's campaign committee. Yep, sure looks like he's paying off his friends for the job they did for him throughout the campaign.

BULLSIT!!! Cynthia was out actively campaigning for Antonio while she was a commissioner the last time round and got busted for it. Community members were furious that she was at meeting talking about how great Antonio was instead of doing her job and talking about public works. Antonio is showing how hypocritical is he. Everyone knew he couldn't keep his promise to "keep city hall clean". This is only the beginning.

CYNTHIA RUIZ IS THE GODMOTHER OF ONE OF ANTONIO'S KIDS. TALK ABOUT ETHICS.

Villaraigosa Won’t Seek LAUSD Control for Now
L.A. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa softened his push for a City Hall takeover of Los Angeles public schools Monday, saying he wants to focus first on other educational measures, such as initiatives to improve campus safety. Villaraigosa, who made the city’s underperforming public schools a central focus of his new administration, said he will convene a panel of education experts on July 29 to advise him on how to assist the Los Angeles Unified School District on safety, health care and after-school programs. While he said the mayor should be in charge of schools, Villaraigosa refused to say when – or if – that should happen, Copley News Service reported.

In 1996, Villaraigosa made the mistake of seeking a presidential pardon from President Clinton for convicted cocaine dealer Carlos Vignali. Villaraigosa wrote that Vignali had "no prior record" -- which wasn't true. He argued that Vignali, whose family had contributed some $6,000 to his campaigns, was the victim of guilt by association.

After Clinton freed Vignali seven years into a 14-year sentence, Villaraigosa's letter became news. Villaraigosa made it worse when he denied writing Clinton -- until a copy of the letter surfaced.

At best, the fiasco made Villaraigosa appear inexcusably sloppy. At worst, he looked dishonest. Hahn went with the worst, running political ads on television depicting the letter and some crack cocaine, as a narrator intoned, "Los Angeles can't trust Antonio Villaraigosa."

The Jewish dominated Democratic Party is very pro-homosexual and anti-Christian. Those who run the Democratic Party, and it is not La Raza, have selected certain Chicanos that they can manipulate easily. One of these Chicanos is the Chairman of the Democratic Party Art Torres. Art Torres is a homosexual and he is making sure that he brings out the gay vote on behalf of Villargairosa. It is sad that La Raza has no real choice in the election for mayor of Los Angeles. OLD NEWS, BUT THE TRUTH. DO NOT BELIEVE THE LIES FROM THE MAYOR. SET YOUR MIND FREE FROM SOCIAL NATIONALISM.

The recent "Pardons for Sale" corruption scandal in the highest levels of the Democratic Party apparently reaches all the way to Los Angeles elected Latino politicians. It appears that the former Speaker of the California Assembly Antonio "Tony" Villargairosa, Congressman Xavier Becerra, and State Senator Richard Polanco all received money to lobby Bill Clinton for the pardon of the notorious cocaine trafficker Carlos Vignali. All three wrote letters and Becerra personally called Bill Clinton on January 19, the last day of Clinton's presidency, for a pardon. Vignali, who had been convicted of distributing over 800 pounds of "crack" cocaine from Los Angeles all the way to Minneapolis, was released the next day from federal prison.

This is shocking to former members of La Raza Unida Party because repeated calls to Congressman Becerra's office to look into the framing of political prisoner Ramsey Muniz have all been ignored. How naive of La Raza activists who may still believe that "right makes might" in the present political system. Instead, the reality is "money makes right" and justice is now bought. Congressman Becerra received $11,000 from Vignali's wealthy Los Angeles businessman father and Tony Villargairosa received $2,795. Both Becerra and Villaraigosa are running for mayor of Los Angeles. State Senator Richard Polanco who is running for Los Angeles city councilman received $26,000 from Vignali's father. The money figures are amounts that were reported by the three politicians.

http://www.aztlan.net/cuacua12.htm

I DO NOT WANT TO CUT AND PASTE THE ENTIRE ARTICLE, POOR BLOGGERS ALL THE TRUTH IS HITTING THEM IN THE FACE.
Now we may have a clue why all these Latino elected officials have remained so quiet in the LAPD Rampart corruption scandal that started when a dirty cop stole three kilos of cocaine from a police evidence room. The area that these three politicians represent is called Pico-Union and it is a well known area for cocaine sales and distribution. The entire LAPD Rampart corruption scandal has been the result of turf wars for the multi-billion dollar coke trade in the area. The city councilman that Polanco wants to replace, Mike Hernandez, was convicted on a cocaine charge. He was caught buying cocaine from a constituent. Pico-Union is mostly a poor working immigrant community and the Democratic Party could care less about improving the quality of life of the community

SO TRUE INDEED,

It should now be apparent to La Raza that the Democratic Party is corrupt from head to toe and that we need to do something about it. We can not depend on elected Latino representatives because in most cases they are as corrupt as the party they belong to. The time has come to empower a third political party, clean out the present crooked politicians and reform the political system in California and the southwest in similar ways that the PAN is doing in Mexico.

LA’s Underground Power Broker
The name Vignali receded into L.A. history after the “Pardongate” scandal of 2001, but questions remain about drug-dealing son Carlos and his real estate magnate father, Horacio, who just might be pulling the strings in the remaking of downtown L.A.
by JEFFREY ANDERSON

Vignali allegedly ran drugs out of his auto-body shop on Figueroa Street, near the L.A. Convention Center.

Looking back, the Minneapolis officers say they got an odd vibe when a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputy went looking for the younger Vignali at his father’s place of business, only to be scolded later by his supervisor, now Sheriff Lee Baca, for harassing the elder Vignali. Baca had been friends with the father since 1991, when they met during Richard Riordan’s mayoral campaign. “Who sweats an officer for trying to serve a federal arrest warrant, and why?” asks Adams. Baca ended up calling the father and talked him into having his son drop by the auto-body shop for questioning; he came in and was arrested. He would serve only six years of a 15-year term before receiving clemency from President Clinton in 2001.

Cynthia Ruiz is related to Villaraigosa's family. As a commissioner she used her position to attend community meetings and openly campaign for Villaraigosa on city time. She should have been removed. And if any of you think that Villaraigosa, Herztberg or Parks wouldn't put their own people around them if they were Mayor, you don't know politics. Why hasn't anyone said anything about Parks son being his Chief of Staff and has absolutely no experience? About his family being on the board of directors with the DARE program? Look it up!

July 19, 2005 5:46 PM

Anonymous Anonymous said:

The main point is that Villaraigosa completely broke line with one of his main campaign issues by appointing Cynthia Ruiz to a key City commission (let alone one that pays a lot of money).

Her removal from the Board by Hahn was pure politics. I'm sure that the second that the media started rolling video feed from 2001 and Cynthia Ruiz came out with Villaraigosa, Hahn wanted her out. When she was ousted, Garcetti and Zine were both really upset when this happened, because they felt that she was serving their districts well.

Had Cynthia Ruiz not been as involved in Villaraigosa's campaign, the claim that this wasn't payback to her for her loyalty would be mute. But after she was ousted, she went into campaign mode for Villaraigosa and went out to raise money and help organize in the field.

I would have expected this from Hahn, but after all the campaign promises of cleaning up the pay-to-play politics of City Hall from Antonio, I surely didn't expect it from him.

Let's stick to the issue. Cynthia Ruiz campaigned for Antonio while holding down the job of public works commissioner. You don't go to community meetings and not do your job but campaign for a candidate. I understand she's related to Antonio's family but since AV is the one who has come out strong on Ethics and stated he would not putting his friends on commissions he's all of a sudden done an about turn. It just doesn't look good coming out of the gate. Hopefully we'll still get the good services the city provides.

Nunez Says "No July 4th Celebration in Assembly" Assembly Speaker and Democrat, Fabian Nunez refused to allow an American Hero to speak to the Assembly Monday, June 28th. Speaker Nunez became intolerant with the speaker and forced the former POW to return to 'solitary confinement' in the governor's conference room down the hall and away from the green carpet of the assembly. Seems to me that Fabian Nunez has a problem with a patriotic, war hero - why?

Here is the email from Speaker Fabian Nunez's office:

"Problems have arisen both with regards to the spirit, content and participation of various individuals with regard to the ceremony on June 28th. More importantly this celebration was intended to celebrate the Fourth of July. The celebration was represented as one resolution, a couple of speakers on each side of the resolution and a song. It has now turned into a ceremony more in line with Veterans Day and with ideological overtones that were not presented or agreed to. We are hoping these issues can be resolved - if not I doubt the Speaker will ok the proceedings."

Let's see if I understand this...

The Democrats accuse President Bush of trying to stifle, silence, free speech with 'his' anti-terrorism efforts, while at the same time oppressing the free speech of a Vietnam War former POW because they're afraid he might mention God and country.

Bush is trying to stop terrorism. What are the Democrats trying to stop?

Democrats accuse the Republicans of dogmatic thinking because they include religious considerations in their political thinking, but Senator John Kerry says - as a matter of personal policy - he won't 'cross any union picket line'.

So who is REALLY displaying hard-headed thinking?

Who is REALLY inflexible?

And I say again...Republicans are blasted when they include God in their thinking. Do we really want a President who chooses 'Unions' over God when it comes to taking a stand.

Fatuous Fabian
Poor, poor Fatuous Fabian. He really lacks the little grey cells.

How awful it must be for him to be a vacuous pawn in the game of life, (Mongo only pawn in game of life).

Remember my blog post on MEChA? Read on...

"Nuñez is a fevered partisan of Aztlan. Unlike old leftists like Corona, who rejects the idea that Mexicans are a "mystical race" or a "special people," Nuñez sees class struggle on ethnic lines, not economic divisions. For Latino radicals today, the proletariat is entirely Latino and "raza" (race), while the ruling class is "anglo," "gringo" and "redneck." Their dedication to the irredentist cause raises the specter of the organized labor movement marshaled in the service of Chicano radicalism. With blood-and-soil rhetoric, Latino activists cultivate a menagerie of resentments that go back to the Spanish Armada, the 1846 war between Mexico and the United States, and 1930's-style "Mediterraneanism." Fueled by a general resentment of the United States, the raza ist Latino left explains the economic disparity between the U.S. and Mexico by charging that Mexico's wealth and land were "stolen" by gringos....

July 19, 2005 6:30 PM

Anonymous Anonymous said:

Immigrants want jobs, but labor unions want new members, and the leftist militants now leading the movement want troops who can really "shut things down" to advance their class-struggle visions. Unions, shut out by middle-class Americans, are attempting to import a "new proletariat," and Los Angeles is ground-zero for their experiment. That dynamic promises to make California an ever more turbulent place in the years ahead. How much will California's government officials, beholden to unions for their electoral success, aid the union cause?" (by Lloyd Billingsly of the Pacific research Institute)

Fatuous Fabian is only a self-absorbed pawn who loves the sound of his own voice. He discovered early on in his career where the power is and whom to exploit... his own people.

In yesterday's press conference at Sutter Middle School, Fatuous Fabian presented yet another opportunity to tax the "rich;" the high income earners of California. His justification of course, is the children and education. What a cliche'. Especially in California where more than $10,000 is "spent" on each school child per year. Sadly, only $4,000 of that ever sees the child. Fatuous Fabian and his dirty band of "Raza" leftists have their hands all over the remaining $6,000, together with the multiple layers of "Administration" inside the schools.

Listen to Fabian; he's a lousy public speaker, and that's WITH a handful of notes. But, it's because he is not too perspicacious or bright; frankly Fatuous Fabian is a little dull and very shallow. That's what makes him such an effective mouthpiece and pawn for Unions. His dim-wittedness makes him appear humble and regular.

Don't be fooled; Fatuous Fabian nunez is a dangerous man on a precarious mission. He doesn't give a hoot for Mexican laborers; he's got a love affair with power, and the unions are pimping him.

Isn't it always the dimbulbs who lust for power

"Democrats Block Independence Day Celebration"
From Assemblyman John Campbell:

In each of the 4 years that I have been a member of the state Assembly, we have had many "celebrations" on the Assembly floor. These "celebrations" are orchestrated by the Democrats who control the House and often involve singing and dancing. Every one of my 4 years have seen substantial celebrations of Cinco de Mayo (Commemorates the Mexican victory over the French at the Battle of Puebla), St. Patrick's Day (for the patron Saint of Ireland) and Chinese New Year's Day, among others. But never once have we celebrated America's Independence Day, the 4th of July.

So, this year, Republican Assemblyman Jay LaSuer of San Diego arranged for Vietnam war hero Admiral Jeremiah Denton to come to California to be a part of a 4th of July ceremony. As you may know, Admiral Denton was a Navy pilot in Vietnam who was shot down and spent 8 years in a Vietnamese prison...

The Democratic leadership refused to allow him on the Assembly floor and there will be no 4th of July celebration. A memo from the Democratic speaker's office said "problems have arisen both with regards to the spirit, content and participation of various individuals with regard to the ceremony." Apparently, they said that he did not believe in the "separation of church and state" and they didn't like the policies he supported as a United States Senator and therefore they would not allow him to be on the Assembly floor or to speak.

Upon hearing about this, Governor Schwarzenegger offered his meeting room last Monday for a ceremony with Admiral Denton. The room was overflowing with people. Only one elected Democrat was in attendance. A number of veterans of the last 4 wars were present. Admiral Denton gave a very moving speech about the 4th of July and about the undeniable commitment of our founding fathers' to their faith in God. He talked about how the war on terrorism may be the most difficult war we have yet fought. And he went on to say that he fears that partisan attacks on our mission and our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan sound too familiar to what he experienced in Vietnam. Following his speech, The Governor came out to personally spend time with him.

And, here's the email sent out by Democrat Speaker Fabian Nunez:

"Problems have arisen both with regards to the spirit, content and participation of various individuals with regard to the ceremony on June 28th. More importantly this celebration was intended to celebrate the Fourth of July. The celebration was represented as one resolution, a couple of speakers on each side of the resolution and a song. It has now turned into a ceremony more in line with Veterans Day and with ideological overtones that were not presented or agreed to. We are hoping these issues can be resolved - if not I doubt the Speaker will ok the proceedings."

Part of the Democrat's problem is certainly caused by partisanship. However, confusion probably also plays a role. Many of these Democrats are simply confused over which country they represent.

"Es solo el inicio de las confrontaciones con el gobernador Schwarzenegger. En una reunión que tuve con el se lo adverti y le adelante que los democratas no vamos a dejar que pisotee nuestros principios, que son defender a los migrantes y a los californianos" ( This is only the beginning of the confrontations with Governor Schwarzenegger. "Each of you, get ten people to go with us on that march in Washington, D.C., and I guarantee you just as we mobilized 150,000 to the streets of Los Angeles on October 16, we will mobilize 1 million people and bring Washington to a standstill, and those rednecks that are out there making decisions for the betterment of their communities will think twice before they push forward anti- immigrant legislation against our community."

Fabian Nunez, Speaker of the California State Assembly, Democrat, attempting to force Governor to pass a new law to give licenses to illegals: "So you can be as revolutionary as you want, you can be Chicano nationalist, you can be Mexican-American, you can be Hispanic, you can believe in the concept of Aztlan, you can believe in the concept of multi-culturalism. Somebody can say 'Everybody here is wrong, I am the only one that has reached revolutionary completeness'." / "Luckily, we don't have to give our lives. L.A.'s New Mayor, Tony Villar
Patrick Mallon
Wednesday, June 8, 2005
Some men never break away from their past, while others try to correct missteps made when they were less mature. No person is without a closet, unless you're a Democrat. Then the task of concealing a separatist history is made easier by a socialist media more impressed by progressive ideology, bleached teeth and expensive suits than with facts and views and quotes that reveal an appalling level of anti-Americanism.

July 19, 2005 10:54 PM

Anonymous Anonymous said:

Who Is the New Mayor?

For starters, Mr. Villaraigosa's real name is Tony Villar. He was born Antonio Villar; the name is a combination of his birth name and that of his second wife, Connie Raigosa. No big deal; many people change their names. But a routine search of Tony Villar illustrates that almost no mainstream media source has dared touch an apparently sensitive body of accumulated history.

According to the Los Angeles Times, which endorsed Villaraigosa: "A Mexican American child of City Terrace, a largely immigrant community on Los Angeles' Eastside, Villaraigosa was raised by his mother after his father abandoned the family. He grew up in poverty and has said he saw his father beating his mother.

"After bouncing in and out of high school, he went on to graduate from UCLA and earn a law degree at People's College of Law."

While the report creates a positive impression, it's also grossly misleading. He bounced in and out of UCLA too, arriving in 1972 from East L.A. Community College and leaving in 1975, without graduating until 1977.

Villaraigosa is not an attorney. He failed the bar exam four times. Nor does the Times explain that the People's College of Law, a communistic institution, is not accredited with the California Bar, and applicants are required to have completed only two years of college education or to have passed a college-level examination. And of the LSAT, a standard entrance test to any law school, the college states that "PCL recognizes the cultural and sociological limitations of tests such as the LSAT."

Villaraigosa became a teachers union organizer, later won a state Assembly seat in 1994, and then was speaker of the state Assembly. He was termed out in 2000, ran for mayor in 2001, losing to James Hahn. He then won a seat on the L.A. City Council, assuming office in 2003, and now has been vindicated in his pursuit of the L.A. mayoralty, beating Hahn in a rematch.

July 19, 2005 10:56 PM

As with most liberal politicians who are mouthpieces for teachers unions and against vouchers or school choice, his kids attended private schools.

The new mayor has a colorful track record. He still bears the tattoo "Born to Raise Hell." While at UCLA he took pride in being an affirmative action admit, later stating to students, "Some people have said I got in through the back door, but I left through the front."

He also has a radical background as the leader of the UCLA chapter of Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlan (MEChA). In fact, he would be forced to renounce his association with MEChA on May 12, 2005, after pressure from the UCLA Bruin Alumni Association.

MEChA is pure and simple a separatist organization. It doesn't negotiate. Its founding document, El Plan Espiritual de Aztlan, states, "We do not recognize capricious frontiers on the bronze continent," and declares that "For the very young there will no longer be acts of juvenile delinquency, but revolutionary acts," and introduced the motto "Por la raza, todo. Fuera de la raza, nada." (For those of the [Hispanic] race, everything. For those not of the [Hispanic] race, nothing.)

He was a leading speaker at the January 1995 Latino Summit Response to Prop. 187 at U.C. Riverside, where Latino politicians, professors and activists gave racist, seditious speeches to about 500 attendees pledging noncompliance with the controversial law that would have denied public education, social services and health care to residents in the state illegally.

Mr. Villaraigosa is charismatic, handsome, and a great speaker. He can work a crowd, knows how to be humble in the right circumstances, and has effectively been able to keep a wider public unaware of his incendiary past.

I guess this thread finally puts to rest the Chief-Faker posted lie that all the anti-ADV posting were from bored Hahn staffers.

Guess what? The new mayor has TONS of people who think he's worthless glad-handing real estate.

It is common knowledge in cityhall that Gynthia Ruiz mixes sex and politics in her agenda. Every one has always known it. It has never been a secret on her part that she is about that. Her email has the word invocex in it. So she always puts it out loud and clear that sex helps her politics. It is no surprise. She works hard at dressing like a 20 year old. She is a 50 year old gal who likes the young guys.
She worked on Antonio's campaign committee and is getting the big pay off, like a good AV loyalist deserves.

50 year olds rarely look as good as Cynthia. She's got to be in her late 30s.

It's no surprise that a mayor would appoint those people that he/she trust and our close to him. Cynthia was ousted for political reasons and will be welcomed back for political reasons.

This is not news.

11:36 anon Cynthia was ousted cause she WAS OPENLY CAMPAIGNING FOR ANTONIO AT COMMUNITY MEETINGS INSTEAD OF DOING HER JOB. She is familia to Antonio and was on his campaign committee. We have a bunch of loser reporters in LA. Not one of them have the balls to print the FACTS and TRUTH about our politicans. Only David Z from Daily Breeze has the credability.

WE have tabloid idiots reporting what they want and holding back the facts. No wonder Daily News, LA Times have lost more readership this year alone. Steve Hymon though at LA Times is one of the few who does his homework and reports it. Sadly, he doesn't write everyday.

You go Mayor Frank. Get your freak on ... And please people, stop telling me that Cynthia is hot. She may age well but she doesn't hold a candle to the Lisa Sarnos of the world. Now there is one damn fine looking lady.

I just viewed a pic of Lisa Sarno, are you sure about your comment?

Lisa Sarno, a representative for Mayor-Elect Villaraigosa, shared their commitment to create a liaison for LAUSD to encourage that tolerance is in our schools at the ground level.

"You and your children have the right to feel safe in your home," Sorno said. "What we’re striving for is respect not tolerance."

Cynthia has aged well...very well. I can only hope that my wife looks as good as her as she gets older (and, I'll try to do my part and look good too).

Hey ... don't get me wrong, I'll take Lisa and Cynthia both. Rick Solomon, you wanna shoot another video with all three of us? We can call it "One Night in Licynthia." The money raised can help produce the next big thing to hit LA "City Hall Girls Gone Wild."

I didn't mean to take it into the gutter. But, Cynthia has obviously taken care of herself and if she can wear clothes that were designed with a twenty-year olds body in mind, then I say, work it.

Ok, Cynthia is no Melissa Gilbert, but she is attractive (especially in the world of local LA politics).

I finally saw Cynthia in person. No brown paper bag necessary. She's very attractive and has beautiful eyes. This 30 year old is encouraged to hear she doesn't discriminate with respect to age.

Cynthia doesn't have those awful blonde streaks anymore. Now she is muy caliente!

Also - Mayor Sam's info is wrong. Cynthia was dumped by no-neck Jim after she told him she would not endorse either as he tried to pressure her to endorse Hahn. It was only after Jimbo dumped her, that she endorsed AV.

Cynthia is doing a great job. She is incredibly responsive to neighborhoood councils on issues that she addresses.

But, you anti-AV monkeys will fling your poo at anyone no matter how good they are.
