How a Newsletter Should Be!
Anyone who wants an example of how an elected official should communicate with his constituents needs to look no further than Eric Garcetti. While his current e-news letter blasted today isn't in the archives yet, sign up for it and check back later when it is. It has more info and updates than you could imagine. It is good to see someone doing something right on the 4th floor

What about the "Zine Line??"

Garcetti is one of the most proactive council members. The other lame asses should take lessons from him on what they should be doing in their districts.

i seen 'hotter' stuff coming out of other office as far as HTML communications.

Attention to all Mayors of this site. Suggestion: Why don't you have a ranting topic, for example
Jim Hahn as the topic and then let the public rant and say what they always wanted to say to him. He is an old topic, but used him as an example. Or, use Gloria Molina, let the public voice their complanits, praises, or rants...more political figures will read this site to read the REAL constituent comments.

3:29 - like what?

As much as Eric Garcetti traded on his father's name, the ability of a white-bread boy from the Valley to win a district as diverse as CD 13 is incredible. He's every where and knows how to get media attention. Other council members should take some lessons from him.

3:29 PM,
I agree with 3:37, show some examples, links...don't just talk down other GREAT examples.

3:29, are you talking about "hot" projects, or "hot" people out of other offices?

This question is for any "in the know" people out there regarding police (LAPD).
I am proud of this department, however I am skeptical of some individuals. I happened to know a couple of officers, one officer in particular in the South Los Angeles police division has me concerned. He is the sole breadwinner of his household. NOw, how much does a cop make? He has been an officer for 5 years. Has just bought a 500k house, goes to Hawaii every year 2 times, Cancun 2 times, goes to Casinos every chance he gets (gambling addiction). His own brother in law said that all of the extra trinkets he gets could not be affordable under his salary. His wife does not work and he has 3 new cars. He does not invest in any other real estate or stocks, etc... My concern is this, is there such a thing in cops getting paid off in the streets by organized crime? If so, please investigate the south central police department. We do not need or want dirty cops.

For sure. Anyone can do a Microsoft Office template. By the way Denny, its Bill O'Reilly, not John O'Reilly. Get his name right and he might invite you back on his show.

3:57 ASSHOLE, unless you have hard core evidence shut the fuck up! It's people like you who throw shit out there without really knowing the facts.
Sounds like 3:57 is pissed that the city is backing LAPD on the toddler shooting. Those community members from South LA that showed up to Parker Center on Friday sounded like a bunch of uneducated morons who have anger management problems. You should have heard how illiterate they spoke. They threatened, screamed, yelled and disrespected everyone. They were an embarrassment to Latinos and Blacks.

Kinda hard to say Garcetti traded on his dad's name when his dad lost 2 to 1 just a few months before his own election. And hardly a white bread kid, unless his ability to speak Spanish (which kicks Rocky and Ed's ass) makes him a whitey. He's kicking some good ass; and is a nice guy. He actually believes in the s**t he says.

Speaking Spanish doesn't somehow transform you into Latino. Just look at David Tokofsky or, better yet, all the Spainards in Spain. Eric is as white-bread as they come. Still, I'm Latino and I would vote for him because he does a good job (and no Latinos ran against him).

To 7:09 Anonymous: Dude, you got issues.

To 8:46 am: what are his/her issues?

HUH????

Garcetti is as Latino as Rocky (1/2 and 1/2--I think Garcetti's mom is Jewish), so he doesn't just speak Spanish, he's actually Latino (or half).

Zine is an idiot. At his LAPD retirement he really showed people what a sleaze bag with women he is. All his friends got up and told stories of his whoring around with cheap women. Mind you there were tons of seniors in the audience. It had to be one of the most trashy retirements I've ever been to. He had absolutely no respect for his sons who were also there and heard what a slut their dad was. This is the role model we have as city council members.

3:37 and 3:42 anons -
Mr. Englander and Ms. Bernson: You both need to get off this blog and get back to work in your district.
Maybe you should be working on something other than the weak recycling plan your boss (or you two) did.
