Did Retailer Pull a Fast One on NIMBYs?
The Daily News is heaping praise upon Los Angeles' largest NIMBY group, the Sherman Oaks Homeowner Association.
The SOHA is all over themselves for "forcing" the City to scale back height requirements for a new Best Buy store by a little less than three feet. The Daily News and SOHA accuse City Hall "insiders" of trying to raise the building height from 33 to 36 feet without anyone noticing.
However, the original appliacation set the height of the store at 33 feet.
Do you think that the developer may have added the "controversial" change as a way to trump NIMBY opposition to the original plan? If he did, brilliant move. These do-gooder homeowner groups are typically not very bright and for the most part are a true impediment to progress in this city.
I'll meet you at the Best Buy to pick up a new iPod.

SOHA are the most selfish, arrogant, pompous group in LA and that is saying something considering who their competition is.

Absolutely. Richard Close should get a life. He is a total dictator and doesn't get anything real done. Term limits, SOHA?
