What's up with the pigskin lately?
First we lose beer. Now we lose another possible home for the NFL (ESPN, LA Times) in the southland.
Pasadena officially dropped it's bid for an NFL team, citing differences in rent payments and the effect on the local community.
And then there were two: The Coliseum and Anaheim
Word to the wise. The elected officials of LA need to stop the infighting, back-stabbing, and general brow-beating and get on board, or Anaheim will have yet another team with an LA name.
PS: LAist had the scoop this time for those keeping the score

Actually Shaw, I've been quite impressed for the most part on how much the Coliseum and everyone involved has their act together. With Pasadena out of the running, I think its LA's to lose. Anaheim doesn't even have a stadium ready to go and there are a lot of issues down there. The Coliseum could be ready much faster and I think could draw larger crowds.
The only cog now is that dumbass Sample's move to ban beer.
How about if USC takes their games to the Rose Bowl and we bring the Bruins back to LA? Then let those snotty Trojans go be temperate in a place where they belong.

Anaheim is not serious about the NFL. They're using it to drive up the price of the land. There is far more money in developing it for commercial/residential.

They don't sell beer at Bruin games, do they? Last time I went, they merely sold Miller.
The longtime favorite line at the Rose Bowl concessions has been, "Well, if you don't sell beer, I'll take a Miller."

Call me cynical but how hard was gtting 50 trees? If this is worth touting then we're in major trouble at city hall.

The Times or Daily News should hire LAist's Phil Wallace. He covers L.A. Sports better than anyone.

Kudos to Parks and the gang for bringing the Coliseum back from the dead.

In terms of accomplishments, Parks has kicked the collective asses of the other class of '03 councilmembers(Cardenas, Ludlow, Smith and Villaraigosa) when you compare what he's done in his term to what they've done during theirs.
