Benny Bernal

Later today Benny Bernal - Valley Vote Leader will be on conservative talk radio station 99.5 fm blasting Mayor Hahn.

Benny Bernal a union steward from Local 99 (his union endorsed hahn) will be showing once again his independent streak from his own union and blasting Mayor Hahn for his rampant corruption within his administration.

Benny Bernal placed 2nd in his race for Valley mayor - he came behind Keith Richman (another Tony Villar endorser)

In fact, the LA Times has a major story on Pierce O' Donnell today. Yesterday they had a leading story on Nick Tonsich.

You bloggers were correct it's all about-- timing, timing, timing.

99.5? Never heard of it. It that some 50 watt college transmitter?

Hahn has been regularly on, or been touted by talkers with blowtorch signals on KFI, KABC, KPCC, KRLA.

Timing is critical. Being HEARD by someone when you make your move is more critical.

Maybe ADV can re-broadcast it online on his site... that's gets 3-4 visitors a day (from here), bloggers who are getting thir asses handed to them by "Hahn's blog squad."

Are you talking about the CHRISTIAN radio station... is little Tony putting his hopes of staving off his landlside on some union hack talking to some Bible thumpers -

Isn't that a bit like what ADV's atheist socialist campaign hack toadies were bashing Hahn for linking up with right wingers.

If ADV is hunkering down with (primarily ORANGE COUNTY), neo-converts to try and win back some points sliding away, he's fishing in the WRONG baptismal tank for his kind of smelly fish.

Hoo Ha! Now that's a laugh riot. BEST you can hope for is Pat Boone will decide to stay home on that one!!

IT is, who's he working with on this one, James Dobson (Focus on Someone "else's" Family), or John MacArthur? Are they letting ADV sell some of their PRAYER cloths folr extra campaign money.

Is Mr. Infidelity going to join PROMISE KEEPERS for a week, just so's he can win for mayor?

MAN is THAT funny! Do they know Hahn's trying to keep the cross in the county seal? Do they know ADV's buddies at the ACLU are behing RIPPING it out? In fact they're behind more Christian-bashing that all the muslims in the U.S. of A>

Can't wait for the Movie... The PASSION(s) of Tony V. All in Spanglish and captioned in 114 PC illegal alien language.

Timing??? How about PLACEMENT, Chief Faker!

What's next ADV goes on the local Persian stations and wails out the calls to prayer from the Minaret?

At least Antonio has not been afraid to mention religion in the campaign. He sends his children to Catholic School. What about Hahn? Why did it take until the run-off election for him to finally come out and support the original County Seal with the cross on it that was designed by his father? Hahn is not a leader, he is a reactionary. Only when he has painted himself into a corner does he seek help or do something. L.A. needs leadership, not losership.

I doubt VERY seriously that KKLA will be running a talk show bashing Mayor Hahn and in any way supporting his challenger, anywhere but in Chief Faker's imagination. Not only would they lose most of their advertising revenue for a move like that, but that's NOT a listening audience that's going to be switching sides based on anything Bernal might have to say.

PLEASE, dear heart, ADV plays "religion" like he plays "family values." He "values" both as props for his little con game. There's not real connection - he doesn't "preach" or practice it -- he's Elmer Gantry for 30 seconds during a debate, as an excuse for the knee-jerk catholics.

ANd, PLEASE, sending your kids to rich, expensive, nominally catholic school in ANOTHER CITY to keep them out of the overcroweded (soon to be MORE overcrowded, thanks to ADV's buddies), and shitty schools down the hill from him is not a RELIGIOUS experience. There are DOZEN Catholic school closer to him (OOPS, but those are ALL filled with LATINOs!) Not the schools HE sends his kids to -- he send them to RICH, mostly ANGLO catholic schools, might as well be ON THE MOON.

Did you hear his excuse during the debates? His kids went to public schools when they were YOUNG (MW Elementary, one of the only decent LAUSD schools on the Eastside (AND mostly non-Latino -- not a coincidence for HIM), then SUDDENLY, COVENIENTLY, when it was time for them to transfer to another, MOSTLY Latino miidle school -- WHOOPS better become CATHOLICS again!!

Incredible Timing? Nope, UNbelievable Arrogance and dishonesty, just incredible transparent and dishonest.

Tony worships TONY. He had NO other god before, during or AFTER Tony!

And you groupies have made HIM your graven image.

Keep bowing down... it's easier for him to SCREW you that way.

Where's THIS megawatt station in the L.A. ratings. One of Tony's more annoying groupies was bashing KABC because they only has a 2-3 percentage point share of the L.A. audience. I'm guessing KKLA get maybe one-TENTH of that much??

BS "facts" -- that's just bush-league guess work... assume's ADV's decline from recent weeks WON'T continue (it will, and historically has), assume Hahn's wounded "mommy" ad will have NO new affect (and BOY will it... it's the killer "app" of this race), and assumes that new "mini-scandals" being leaked to the Times will do some additional damage to Hahn (they won't... just oberkill, more of the same.

The last days it's ADV hurts children, vs. Hahn's compatriates with "alleged" campaign contribution violations. You don't have to be a sociologist to know which of those pulls people's heart strings the most.

San Quentin versus Club Fed. Tony loses 5 points JUST on that matchup along... added to his already speedy decline on "can't be trusted."

You ADV lovers banked WAY too much on people being scared by rumors of "scary" white collar crime.

BUSH-league number spinners, you are SO wrong. Tony's on a slide that picking up steam and he's NEVER broken 50 citywide.

P.S. (Fake GOP guy -- just between us, lets get down and dirty on stacking up all the GOP "leaders" from the Valley, since we ARE near the end... bottom line with the Republicans and conservatives: Hahn is ANGLO; Tony V. is not! Compute that into the number crunching and the reality of political life.

That's the BIG Bang theory when you'rs parsing the right wing votes, and we ALL know it!

Bye bye Tony; write us from Miami when you're collecting money for your NEXT campaign in a year or so!

The little ADD lovers are praying that Antonio doesn't screw it up again like 2001. This is their time to be really nervous. Antonio has all those loser reporters from the LA Times protecting him like Richard Fausset, Jessica Villagarrison, Patrick McGreevy, Noam Levy and rest of the city's laziest, puff piece reporters in the nation. LA Times has lost ovr 70,000 readers and I wonder why. They never ever mention he's Latino as if we can't figure that out. They play up his little press conf. and bury the stories on Hahn. I'm telling everyone to BOYCOTT the Times. Maybe when they gounder like the Herald Examiner they'll know its their reporters fault. The tv reporters say they are shocked they get away with that.

In the ad, Karey Jaeger, the mother of a dead 22-month-old, says, "It's very difficult for me to understand how anyone could not support a law aimed at keeping child killers behind bars." Villaraigosa, she says, was the only person to vote against the bill in the Assembly.Villaraigosa offered his condolences Wednesday to Jaeger but staunchly defended his record, including his action on the 1996 bill.

"I voted for a tougher bill on the same point," he said. That vote, he said, came a week after his vote against the bill favored by Jaeger. Villaraigosa said the bill he voted for, which "would have convicted the man who killed her son and put him away for 25 years to life," was a better and more comprehensive bill. Although it did not extend the penalties for felony child abuse resulting in death, it more generally increased the penalties for first- and second-degree murderers. That bill died in the state Senate.

MISLEADING AD FROM ANTONIO. Teachers' Assn. launched a $500,000 ad campaign supporting Villaraigosa's election. The ad, which began airing on broadcast and cable television stations, opens with a flashlight following a man running through a forest. "Been looking for Mayor Hahn? So have the 700,000 students in our Los Angeles schools," an announcer says.
THE STUDENTS AT ROOSEVELT HIGH ARE LOOKING FOR ANTONIO BECAUSE IT IS THE WORST OVER CROWDED SCHOOL IN THE NATION AND ANTONIO AND HIS PAL JOSE HUIZAR COULD CARE LESS.

Los Angeles developer Richard Meruelo also reported to the city Ethics Commission on Wednesday that he is spending $103,800 on a pro-Villaraigosa radio commercial featuring former Mayor Richard Riordan. Meruelo is the largest individual supporter of Villaraigosa's campaign, and has made nearly $190,000 in independent expenditures on Villaraigosa's behalf. His role has sparked controversy, as have some of his business deals, particularly the recent purchase of a 23-acre site near the Los Angeles River in Glassell Park. The L.A. Unified School District was negotiating to buy the land for a new high school when Meruelo bought

Mayor Sam you make fun of Hal Netkin but you have to hand to Rick Orlov for having the guts to print this in today's Daily News.
Foe trashes councilman's bid for mayor....By Rick Orlov, Staff Writer
As he did during the primary election, San Fernando Valley activist Hal Netkin has started his own telephone campaign against Councilman Antonio Villaraigosa, less than a week before the Tuesday mayoral election.
Several residents reported they received recorded telephone messages -- paid for by an organization called "Mayor No" -- at their homes, urging they vote against Villaraigosa. That organization and its Web site www.MayorNo.com, is run by Netkin, who is an anti-illegal immigration activist critical of Villaraigosa.

Netkin did not return telephone calls on Wednesday, but he talked openly of his operation during the primary election, saying he was able to make 2,000 calls a night to residents.

The telephone message attacks Villaraigosa's background and questions his loyalty to the country.

On his Web site, Netkin criticizes Villaraigosa's past membership in Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlan -- a sometimes radical student organization referred to as MEChA -- when he was a student at University of California, Los Angeles.

Villaraigosa downplays the issue, saying he did not agree with the more radical ideas espoused by some in the group. Also, he said, it was something that was done in his youth.

Netkin has acknowledged that Villaraigosa and Mayor James Hahn hold many of the same positions on the treatment of illegal immigrants. However, he said, if Hahn is elected again it will be for only one four-year term.

THIS HAS TO BE THE WORST ENDORSEMENT BY LA WEEKLY
Mayor: Antonio Villaraigosa
We kept waiting for Antonio Villaraigosa to turn it on in his second run for the mayor’s office. He didn’t do it in the primary campaign. And he hasn’t done it in the weeks leading up to next Tuesday’s vote. It’s as though he’s content with the abysmal 26 percent turnout in March and is doing all that he can to keep from awakening the hundreds of thousands of voters who sat out the primary for fear some of them might vote for Jim Hahn.

Too bad. This is not the inspirational leader Los Angeles needs to fire us up. Nor is it the one Villaraigosa has shown he can be.

He has momentum, though the gap is narrowing and the latest Times poll shows Hahn has cut his lead from 18 points to 11 points, with 9 percent undecided. The former state Assembly speaker and current member of the Los Angeles City Council has won endorsements from dozens of ex–Jim Hahn backers, like Congresswoman Maxine Waters and City Council President Alex Padilla. Even people who started out with Hahn this time, like Councilman Dennis Zine, are jumping ship before it’s too late and going with him. It seems that pretty much everyone in town is less than impressed with the work that Hahn has done as mayor over the last four years and wants a change. So do we.
Is this an enthusiastic Villaraigosa endorsement? Now, that’s another matter. We’d like to be able to say we’re impressed with the job Villaraigosa has done on the City Council, but two years isn’t enough time to make a mark. His district still has a high murder rate, poor schools, lagging economic development. He talks about getting dozens of new stop signs and rallying neighbors for community cleanups. We say that’s great, but it’s not by itself enough of a record on which to run for mayor.

And yet he showed leadership by helping to end a public transit strike, and he kept his national stature high with his role in the Kerry for President campaign. But he’s got a spotty record of showing up for City Council business, including sessions on transportation and education, both of which he claims as special areas of expertise.

And then there’s his campaign. Stumbling in debate, vitriolic at news conferences, he doesn’t seem like the Antonio who captured the nation’s imagination in 2001. He has excelled in one area: He’s raking in the dough. It’s as though he altered his old tattoo to read, “Born to raise cash.”

Still, we’ve seen him as an organizer, an ACLU president and as an especially effective state Assembly speaker, and we know he has it in him to be an energetic and inspiring mayor. We know what Hahn has going for him as well, and we don’t like it. The prospect of four more years of lackadaisical work and missed opportunities is just too depressing to consider. There are enough concerns about Villaraigosa that the city will not likely let him operate on autopilot as mayor. That’s a good thing. It’s about time this city had a mayor like Antonio Villaraigosa, who’s worth our attention and who believes we’re worth his.

Cowardly ADV doesn't need the BIG mayor's chair to hide behind -- he's doing a GREAT job out hiding out from his district people, requiring them to RSVP to community events he'll be at for 10 minutes (so they CAN'T exercise FREE SPEECH in his cowardly presence).

SO ADV's paid slime-masters slip ANOTHER 4-year-old "white collar" criminal into the (maybe Hahn "helped" them), bogus pay-for-play roster with the Times story today.

Hey, you guys have been saying for a year or more now that Hahn is he equivalent of a mass-murderer, politically, a John Gotti-type. And his numbers are GOING UP. How's that strategy paying off NOW??

What in the Sam Hill makes you think ONE more, PLANTED (see-through slime-tactic), accusation of this kind makes ANY difference in the real world, any more?

One more body under Giants stadium, STILL can't be pinned to Hahn doing anything wrong. Hell, Hahn's non-denial denial came across stronger than the Times attempt to connect the dots back to him. I had to read the thing twice to understand how this will all conencted (after FOUR YEARS), and I practically a genius compared to most voters (sorry to say!)

More piffling innuendo -- keep looking for that last straw that break's the camels back. YEAH, you keep picking up 4-year-old "straws" while Jimmy keeps nailing "child-murderer coddling" Tony's overused pecker to the line-up wall.

You MAY find that last straw weeks from now (you been looking for YEARS) - but PROBABLY not. You WON'T find the antidote to the poison that ADV unleashed on his own career by being SOFT on anti-crime legislation. There IS no cure for that pathology in the minds of people with little kids, no-so-little-kids, grandkids, nieces, nephews, etc., etc., etc.

Little Tony HITS the mat again, another knock-out punch from Hahn, rope-a-doping the pimping (and sometimes "conveniently) "poping" Antonio.
