Desperate Times - Mayor Poopy is lost
If folks thought this was a rerun of 2001 they are wrong. This rerun seems more like season 2 than a previously watched episode.

In 2002 when Pacheco was fighting Perry for more of Downtown, the African American community and especially Ridley-Thomas attacked Pacheco for trying to get more political power for Latinos through re-districting.

Finally Jessica Villagarrison in LAT today admits that Antonio Villar is copying whatever Hahn is doing. She says...it was the second time since last week's election Villaraigosa has added an event to his schedule that mirrored a Hahn event.
Mind you Hahn announced the smaller school push 1st. MEAT tell your boss to get his own ideas. When Antonio found out Hahn was going to be in South LA last weekend, there goes the balless Antonio following after him. Gee, is Antonio stalking Hahn? I loved on KCAL 9 last night blacks came out and said "we won't vote for a Latino mayor." Gotta love that!!

Clerk Martinez gave a detailed explanation of the ballot verification and re-inking, on radio this (Tues.) a.m. The re-inking is a practice recommended by the secretary of state, and was done under supervision in view of any observers who took the time to be there. The verification banking was noticed appropriately, and any of the candidates' teams could have watched if they wanted to -- in a tight race, would probably have been a good idea. The prescribed re-inking process leaves the voter's original mark visible for post-verification. The vote isn't considered final for 21 days after the election.
(Hertzberg, however... interviewed on the same program, made it sound like he may still be backing away from his "concession" and is leaving options open to ask for a recount).
But there's no reason to believe the remaining 25K absentees, etc. will break much different than the inital batch, which came through in the following order, favoring, Hahn, then Hertzberg, then Villaraigosa.

So Hahn hears that Antonio is getting the endorsement of Supervisor Yvonne Burke, he then schedules a walk through the Crenshaw district.
Yvonne's staff then includes a walk on their press agenda, so Antonio's folks figure it's best to be polite to the new endorsement and do a walk as well.
As for the smaller schools idea, if antonio was really copying Hahn, then Steve Barr the architect of the whole thing must be on Antonio's payroll. Because within 45 minutes he was able to clear his schedule and get out of the westside to be near Antonio. Amazing! perhaps he has a quicker route out of the westside than others. What is his super secret route?
Or maybe Antonio's campaign was 100% correct and you guys are looking for dum-dum reasons to find otherwise.
Oh and all that racial crap that people are excited about. Being racist, or pretending to be racist, or supporting racist people to justify your means is not a smart way to run or tactically include in your campaign.
Hahn wants it both ways - he wants to fan the racism, as folks like Rolondo Cuevas are doing on this blog and claim he's not going there with his campaign.

Why do you still insist on calling everyone else dum dums. Let's see, Tony failed the bar four times, Tony flunked out of Roosevelt high, Tony brags about his 1.8 UCLA GPA, Tony needs to steal every idea he claims, and Tony has to rely on people like you, Ulysees, to cover for him - not very smart.
Regarding the race baiting, I'm no fan of Tony because his advisors think it is more prudent to go after the reliable white westside vote instead of mobilizing the sleeping Latino majority. To wake that majority would be to risky, Skelton wouldn't be able to control it - can't hold a tiger by the tail! But regardless of my feelings for Tony, it will come down to race, just like in 2001. And now that Ace has pissed off Kam, wait to see how nasty this race stuff will get. People on the Westside and South Central only need the most trivial of race baiting to get them to vote thier hearts desire. Only a Latino that can unify and mobilize Latinos can win in today's L.A.. And too bad for Parke, Tony doesn't even come close to doing this.

Also, Southwest Voter Registration that is suppose to be non partisan is using the so called "get out the vote" Latino Vote 2005 to campaign for Tony. Antonio Gonzales is a good friend of Tony and is suppose to be neutral but he and his other cohorts are into "its about time for a Latino Mayor" bullshit that behind the scenes he's busy making people feel guilty if they don't support Tony. Like I've always heard no one dumps and shits on Latinos more then there own people. Case in point Attention Deficit Villaraigosa.
Antonio Gonzalez has taken a well respected organization founded by the revered Willie Velazquez and turned it into his own personal piggy bank - can you say poverty pimp? Southwest Voter Registration is the reason 400,000 Latinos didn't vote in 2001 and the reason 500,000 Latinos won't vote in 2005. Gonzalez is married, (at least part time just like Tony), to Alma Martinez, Gloria Molina's Chief of Staff. Gloria has become the main benefactor of this defunct organization. I guess Gonzalez got tired of having fundraisers and just married into a cash cow - no pun intended.
I first heard of Antonio Gonzalez in my Chicano Studies class at CSUN where Professor Rodolfo Acuña, candidly refers to him as "THE WHORE." It is bogus leaders like Gonzalez and Tony that keep the Latino community bottled up.

But in the next couple of weeks months Southwest Voter Registration is putting together yet another bullshit fundraiser (really an Antonio rally) for Latino Vote 2005. All the radical Latino organizations will give SVRP more money for both ANtonio's to funnel into Tony's campaign.
There are many Latinos who are college educated, successful business people who don't think just because a person is a certain race they are entitled to a position. There are many Latinos who are not supporting Antonio. He's really done a diservice to his constituents and for no other reason he doesn't deserve to be elected to mayor.
Does that fundraiser come with the Super Bowl tickets Gonzalez buys every year with voter registration money? And who would be at this fundraiser, all the dinosuar Latino activist hoping in vain for one last shot at the brass ring? This is, afterall , their last hurrah. It took these fools 25 years to get a Latino elected to the City Council after Roybal went to congress in 1961. And then it was to get coke addict Alatorre elected. By contrast Nick and his "gang" of young Latino activists got two council seats in two years, Pacheco '99 and Reyes'01. But then Tony and Parke hijacked weak minded, pussy Ed Reyes in '05, do you know you only need 6,000 signatures for a recall in District 1.
Hey MEAT you never answered my question. Where does Attention Deficit Villaraigosa stand on the 3-12 schedule issue? Why hasn't he said a word about it? If he sides with Bitter Bernie and even tries to take away LAPD flexible work schedule all hell will break loose. If he doesn't side with Bitter Bernie where does that leave him with the black vote? 1-18-05 - Council Action - Motion ADOPTED to APPROVE Rules and Elections Committee report and communication recommendations from Budget and Finance Committee to:
1. REQUEST the City Attorney to prepare and present the appropriate Ballot Resolutions and associated documents to place a ballot measure before the voters that would amend Charter Section 435 to remove the sentence “No vote cast for any candidate shall be counted unless the voter also voted on the question of the recall of the incumbent.”
2. INSTRUCT the City Clerk that any ballot measure amending Charter Section 435 be placed on either a State Election upon which the City has already placed other ballot measures or a scheduled citywide municipal election.

HERTZBERG SET TO ENDORSE VILLARAIGOSA.
Bob Hertzberg has decided to endorse his one time room-mate, Antonio Villaraigosa. My understanding is that Hahn hasn't been calling Huggy (maybe just once while Antonio has been calling as much as three times a day)and Bob has now cut a deal with Antonio. For Huggy's endorsement Antonio will back and endorse Hertzberg for LA City Attorney in 4 years time. It seems the old partnership will be back in business. Hertzberg's consultant John Shallman and Controller Chick have been putting pressure on Hertzberg to go with Villaraigosa. Mr. Hertzberg, Cynthia Telles, lost in this battle as she was opposed to her husband endorsing Villaraigosa. Of course, another loser is Jack Weiss who has been repaid for supporting Antonio in the usual manner. Antonio has screwed him - everybody knew that Weiss wanted to be the next City Attorney.
I'm thinking Villaraigosa should appoint Hahn to the Ethics Commission after he beats him in the election. Instead of jail he can complete some community service on behalf of the residents of LA. Maybe he will be more effective in cutting corruption there than he was as Mayor.
