Happy New Year

New YearUntil LA sobers up following New Years, not much is going to be happening in terms of activity around the city. Here are some random thoughts:

How bored was the LA Times to out of the blue jump with a slamitorial against Bob Hertzberg?

The US is being called stingy for its response to tsunami relief, but everyday Americans as usual are showing their generosity, proving there is not a government solution to everything.

No one has guessed who Meat is.
Finally, to keep you busy over the weekend, feel free to post your New Year's resolutions for all six of our Mayoral candidates.

Happy New Year!

PS: Today Mayor Sam got it's 10,000th hit! Congrats guys!

Something is going on. Tomorrow, Friday, is Antonio's day to respond to the recall. Will he have anything published in tomorrow's newspapers? Or, because it's an official holiday, has he booked space in Monday's newspapers? Any bets on what he will do?

Anyone who doesn't think people are angry at Antonio should check out the following web site:

Check out the Boulevard Sentinel article.

The L'Opinion story very is interesting and I never saw that before. Surely the time to get signatures was when people were shopping for presents. Haven't the recall people left it to late?

From MAK. Antonio won't publish a response. He wants to keep this as quiet as possible. The last thing he wants in the press is anything to do with his recall. And another little bit of wisdom. We won't see MEAT or Armando posting here. Antonio will leave it to CD14lover. They don't want the usual 50 hits or so on this topic. Happy New Year everybody.

Interesting blog. You may want to check out my blog "Framptonia" at nathanframpton.blogspot.com . I have a few contributors and there are some great discussions.

You may also want to try blog explosion to get more readers on your blog. I have a blog explosion link on my blog if you are interested.

Don't believe the L'Opinion piece. They don't like Antonio. You won't see a LA Times piece critical of Antonio. We need more papers like that in Los Angeles.

Chief of Staff,

How the hell did this thread manage to turn into more Tony Villar talk when it HAD nothing to do with him? Jesus Christ, Hertzberg can't even get slammed on this blog! And then we have some blogger promoting Blog Explosion. Well not bad, we already belong.

Isn't there something else besides Tony Villar to talk about?

Mayor Sam you should be happy, looks like your blog traffic has really picked up this week. It may be because the three other LA blogs are kind of quiet - Susan Sontag is still dead at LA Observed, they're still chasing feral cats at LA Voice and Boi from Troy is suffering from a case of blue balls after spending a week in Hawaii with his parents and not getting any d-ck. He's posting shirtless boys like crazy, calm down Scott - I am sure you will get laid New Year's eve!

Honestly though, LA Voice, LA Observed, Boi From Troy and Mayor Sam are really the best blogs in LA to get the up to the minute news and commentary - and each has a unique slant that makes them enjoyable to read. I haven't read every other blog, but the rest of what I have seen are either parochial or not consistent. The Big 4 always have something going on.

Keep on truckin!

Wonder what Hertzberg is going to do now about that LA Times piece. Will he change direction? As for the Tony recall all I hear at meetings all over CD14 is people asking where are the petitions to sign. It is by no means a joke. Recall people just have to wait til Tony responds then they will go into action. The poster who wrote all the time Tony was out of CD14 campaigning for Kerry, being absent from CD14, and his broken promise will do him in. People who campaigned hard for him now want him gone. What goes around comes around.

Obviously Villaraigosa is having his people monitor and spin this blog. New Year's resolution is to get more damn cops. With all the taxes we pay in this city how can council not find the money yet have money to spend on stupid studies?

Loverboy. Trust me. Your boy was out of the state at least 66 days in his first year as a councilmember. Now, how can you do better than the last guy when he's never here? Well, I suppose you could say, 'well, he had his staff working on CD14 business.' Well, you could say that loverboy except he took eight members of his staff with him to Arizona to campaign for Kerry. Now, he's running all over the westside raising money for his mayoral campaign. And instead of his chief of staff looking after the district, he's busy running Antonio's campaign. Why doesn't he RESIGN loverboy? Let him focus on the mayoral race and let somebody else represent the 14th district. We could have Nick Pacheco back, or Jose Huizar or Cynthia Ruiz. They would all be better than an absentee representative. Still "leaning" loverboy?

Hell, the late, as in six feet under, Mayor Sam couldn't be any worse than an absentee representative. Maybe Antonio's Hollywood friends will finance and make "Weekend at Tony's"

Interesting that the week Meat is out of town another Antonio supporter takes his place spinning. Is that you Manny (CD14Lover)? I think it's Manny from Highland Park who is the only Antonio supporter in CD14 I can think of.

To those of you who are always attacking Villaraigosa on that he campaigned too much for Kerry, and that his staff went off to Arizona to campaign for Kerry, can you bring up any proof or state specific dates. I wouldn't call myself a hardcore Villaraigosa supporter, as I agree and disagree with many things that he has done in the district, but I'm just sick and tired of all of these bloggers who make these general statements and don't come out with specifics that can be used to comfront Villaraigosa and his staff. Let's get pass all this crying out of the way and start discussing these issues with facts.

I live in CD14 & think all this recall is bull.
One thing I can say is I have never seen Mayor Hahn in CD14.
I think either Mayor Hahn or Hertzberg is behind the recall. It will go nowhere.
I hope 2005 brings the City some much needed changes.
Happy New Year!

Typical Villaraigosa spin. He can't get over that his district may want him gone. A group of people in the district want to recall him and what does his hacks say, "Hertzberg's behind it." "Hahn's behind it" ("Cedillo?????") Well, as far as I know they don't live in CD14 and won't be able to sign the petition. But 13,000 CD 14 registered voters will and then Villaraigosa can focus on his next conquest. What about Huizar's seat on the LAUSD board?

Man the Villaraigosa staffers are posting like crazy, must because Ace, I mean Meat, is out of town.

I wouldn't doubt if Cedillo is in some way or another involved with the recall effort against Villaraigosa. Isn't Cedillo banging one of Hahn's staffmembers??? I believe it's the old La Opinion writer who wrote a piece against Villaraigosa the weekend before she started her job at the Mayor's Office (I believe it was in the Summer of 2001). I guess the Pu-tang (oops, I meant the pen) is mighter than the sword.

Antonio is never in CD14 unless it's a photo op so why blame Hahn. Hahn has been in CD14 and most recently at the HOBK Youth Center at the Xmas toy drive. He's given money for youth after school programs in Boyle Heights. To the poster who says he's hasn't been there you are in denial. ANtonio has told everyone who will listen that nothing happens in CD14 without his name on it. B.S. You won't find Tony in CD14 unless there's press. Hahn and Cedillo aren't behind the recall. That's what MEAT and Tony supporters would like people to think. Its the spin to blame others instead of Tony's constituents who really are angry at his broken promise and the fact that he used his own people to get elected and now is bailing.

New Year's resolution is to have City Council members behave themselves during their meetings and respect the public who attend to speak during public comment. Very embarrassing and shameful article in Daily News today on how Appeals Court ruled in favor of strip club. Apparently when owners went to council to testify council members were talking on cell phones, talking to eachother and not paying attention. Owners sued and now have won to have another public meeting. Waste of our tax dollars for council members acting like immature jerks and embarrassing themselves in the press. The video was all over the news channels tonight.

Hertzberg's campaign is faltering. His breat up LAUSD issue is both old news and an unsuccessful attempt to separate himself from the pack. If that were what he were really trying to do he should have come up with a plan to add more cops, stop traffice jams in the City, reduce gang activity, provide more housing, etc.

This LAUSD ploy had alienated his base of support everywhere but the Valley, which he already had captive.

His star is beginning to lose it's luster.
