A New Website on the Block

It looks like Tony Villaraigosa may have a bit more of a challenge than previously thought. His new friends have started their own site, www.recallvillaraigosa.com. It certainly looks like this was more than just a stunt, as they now are soliciting contributions to fund staff to circulate the petition. This should make his trip down to the City Clerk for his Mayoral papers a little more fun. Rather than blow his constituents off, maybe he should take these people seriously and live up to his promises.

Chief Parker you are right on the money. IF Antonio thought the 2001 Mayoral race was hard on his family, he hasn't seen anything yet. These people will be out for blood. Some of his biggest Latino supporters have jumped shipped and are helping the cause to get rid of him.

Can hardly wait for the debates.

Let's see what this group can do by election time. Sure looks like a upscale website.

I too find it interesting that people find criticism of Antonio racially based.

If that was the case, why are we not hearing a peep against Richard Alarcon?

If you compare where Antonio was 4 years ago - considering $$, Name ID, and endorsements -- you will find he is far and away surpassed where he was 4 yrs ago.

These "major" latino supporters can only be 1 - and thats Sen Alarcon. Who by the way endorsed in the run-off not the primary, which i suspect will be the same this time around as well.

If there are others, which i doubt, please prove it.

thanks.

As for the recall website, i find it interesting that its home server is in Scottsdale AZ - not even in CD 14. This website is not in CD 14, the home of this whooped up recall, but in Scottsdale AZ. A state mind you that just passed a son of prop 187 law that kicks folks out of needed services like, ummm education. I find it always interesting that when the community that has the most VISA violation overstays are Canadians and that we give per capita more $$ to them in direct services than mexicans, everytime its a debate on immigration the face of that debate always has the same skin color as Antonio. So go ahead Arizona come play in CD 14, come here and see what happens. I find it sad that Arizona folks can come and put up homeless folks/activists to do the work of rich donors or other mayoral candidates. Which isn't fact of course, but could be a possibility.

The interests of Scottsdale AZ aren't the interest of Los Angeles.

Keep all the lies and misinformation coming -- i like telling the truth.

There are peeps about Alarcon, one only need to go to a hal netkin website. That said, Alarcon needs to do more to become a serious contender than you will hear the same race-bait language from the same cadre of individuals.

Here's a question one of you sharp kids might be able to answer. It says Antonio's mayoral website was created in 2002. Was that before or after he got elected to Council? Its certainly after when he ran for mayor the first time. How does that play into his comments about not running for mayor?

How scary that in today's day and age you internet nerds can get all this information. Maybe this will keep all the mayoral candidates on their toes..
I am impressed.

Heard that former councilman Richard Alatorre has been standing right behind Antonio during council meetings. How the hell can he do that? Rumor is he's helping with campaign but aren't chambers off limits?????

Remember when Alatorre's wife's event planning company was under heat for some MTA nonsense and Richard called the Ethics Commission and said "Do me a favor - give 'em a break."?

Mayor Shaw - where are you?

To Anyone:

Can you name one NEW thing Tony has doing as a councilmember for the 14th District?

I don't want to hear about his service in the assembly.

As Janet would say, "What have you done for me lately?"

November 10, 2004 2:18 PM

Yeah, I'll tell you what he's done. He's made the residents cleaned up streets. Sweeping the damn sidewalks for the business owners who are too lazy to clean up after themselves. Let's see? That's it..ohhh forgot he takes credit for what Pacheco and Hahn have done in CD 14.

I'm not coming at this from a pro-Antonio way, but give me a %#$@!in' break! East LA ain't #1 on the investment list for the next dot-com wave, let alone any other industry. ANYONE who criticizes an elected after one year in office for not turning a poor urban community into Beverly Hills is either on crack or is a self-serving political bastard. In this case, it's obviously the latter . . . whether it's Hahn staffers, Parks staffers, former-Pacheco staffers or anyone else!

I can agree with the argument that he hasn't shown enough in the last year to claim a record of changing much in the district . . . but lay off the politically motivated allegations that he hasn't done ANYTHING and that the "whole district is outraged." That kinda' crap is both transparent and hyperbole (B.S.).

No average joe citizen is gonna' spend their time, effort and money recalling an elected official who hasn't flagrantly offended the community in some way. For Christ's sake, if they [residents of the district] didn't attempt a recall on Pacheco who funneled tax-payer dollars back to his campaign, they sure ain't gonna recall a simple councilmember 'cause he hasn't filled enough pot-holes.

To 8:58 Poster:

You want a break, here comes one.

First, who ever said that Tony was expected to turn East LA into Beverly Hills.

He promised to do things BETTER, not the same, but BETTER and he just hasn't.

Second, I agree with you, it is rhetoric to say the whole district is outraged. Remember, this is the same type of rhetoric Tony used when he said the "whole" district wants him to run for Mayor. Now, do you have the integrity to call Tony on that?

Third, Pacheco is not the issue. BTW, if what you said was true the District Attorney would have indicted Pacheco. Seein no inictments, grand juries, raids on Pacheco's house or office, it sounds like you just don't have your facts right.

Finally, what a person finds as flagrant is subjective and if you don't live in the district, you won't appreciate the deception. What deception you ask? A.) I am not running for mayor and the district supports my decision. B.) I have no money to help community groups, but I have half a million dollars for my political ambition. (BTW, nice way to get around the City donor limits.) Also, his state money expenditure report shows him giving money to four civic groups, A.) Neighbor to Neighbor, B.) Centro Del Pueblo, C.) LA Housing Authority - Youth Council and D.) LA ACORN. What was wrong with all the other CD 14 civic groups that asked for his help??? Check out the facts at

http://cal-access.ss.ca.gov/Campaign/Committees/Detail.aspx?id=1245233&view=expenditures

Why lie about not having money???

Antonio is as a big a crook as Richard Alatorre was. The only difference is that Alatorre was loved by the community because although he was crooked he did things for the comunity and genuinely helped who ever needed it. Antonio on the other hand pretends he lives on the Westside, is the most arrogant politican in this city, doesn't know what the word "integrity" means, and has lied and stolen from a poor community. I personally know residents who were his strongest supporters against Pacheco and now are telling people they can kick themselves for campaigning so hard for Tony. That says a lot. More people are saying that Antonio being as horrible a councilman there is, has shown people how good Pacheco really was and they're sorry he's not there or his staff. Antonio's staff is not liked by anyone. Meat, will say something stupid to contradict but the people WHO MATTER IN CD 14 KNOW THE TRUTH
