Absent Minded or Just Absent?
As the holidays approach and the year starts coming to a close, I started thinking about my year-end review, my kids fall quarter coming to a close, year end taxes, and all the other loose ends that need to get tied up before we bound off into a new year.
The more I have thought about it, I began to notice that all of these things have one thread in common. ATTENDANCE. I get paid for showing up at work. My kids school gets paid based on their attendance. The IRS counts on me working everyday so they can collect more taxes. The family is starting to figure out who is attending which holiday parties and dinners.
Just about everything is based on attendance. John Kerry has been getting hit for missing votes in the Senate. The President catches flack for vacationing in Texas every other week. Our current Mayor is absent-minded and was absent for 9/11. People have even commented here and at the Fourth Floor regarding council members attendance and tardiness.
Maybe it is time for a Freedom of Information Act request soliciting their attendance records. Maybe then we will find out just how many junkets and non-work related trips our leaders have taken out of state.
How would you grade their attendance?

You go Mayor Sam.....I would love to see those records on city council attendance.
I would also love to see someone put a stop to all the wasted taxpayer money at Friday's city council meetings grandstanding and giving out presentations most of the entire council. Many residents have to wait up to two or three hours for public comment until they finish their silliness and crap patting eachother on the back.
PADILLA WHERE IS YOUR LEADERSHIP ON THIS???

SINCE AUGUST OF THIS YEAR THE EDUCATION AND NEIGHBORHOOD COMMITTEE MEETINGS HAVE BEEN CANCELLED A TOTAL OF 4 TIMES. I WANT TO KNOW WHY?
What are these city council members doing if not attending these meetings?
Antonio is on the education neighborhood committee. What a joke cause he never ever goes to the Boyle Heights Neighborhood Council. Talk about two faced.

I agree totally 100% with the person who posted the last entry.
We should demand that councilwoman JANICE HAHN hold those mtgs. She can cancel them per her discretion since she is the CHAIR.
As for the neighborhood council thing -- i find it ironic how its Antonio's fault for those cancelled mtgs on not JANICE HAHN's, and it's also Antonio's fault that he's never attended a Boyle Heights Neighborrhood council mtg.
The facts are that he has attended several Boyle Heights neighborhood council mtgs.
But the important matter in Bouyle Heights is this -- there is a crazy element there that don't want community festivals to be in their area. Major parades occur their every year much to the excitement and benfit of many local residents.
I like parades - don't you? or are you an evil grinch that stole christmas? you aren't a grinch are you?

I've heard all the way from people in the valley that there was a parade on Sept. 19th that only two blocks in Boyle Heights and used for set up. Yet the special event waiver fee of $19,000 was paid for the city of los angeles when in fact the parade was in the County. GO FIGURE......

Will someone ppppllllleeeaaaassssssseeeeeeeee DO something about city council members NOT sitting in their seats and listening. People wait a long time to be heard and I've never seen such disrespect. No other city runs their meetings as badly. They should be ashamed of themselves.....why hasn't anyone said anything about that?

I think Antonio is getting blamed because he was probably out campaigning for Kerry during that time. For sure the date of Nov. when the meeting was cancelled a fourth floor person said he went to Boston. They do need to be held accountable though.
