Hahn's Challenge

Hahn offers this little challenge via the Daily News this morning:

"I think people are smart enough to look at the facts," Hahn said. "They know me. They know what I stand for, that what I do is in the best interest of the city.

"Anyone who alleges otherwise has to prove that and I don't think they can."

Now, to be fair, this challenge was made in the context of his most recent pay-to-play scandal involving Mark Abrams and the Planning department, not to be confused with the airport, harbor, Fleishman-Hillard or Pierce O'Donnell scandals.

I have my opinions, but lets see what you have to say.

Hahn gets two out of three: 1) Yes, we have come to know Hahn. 2) Yes, we know what he stands for. 3) No, definitely not. Anyone who has read the news has more than a suspicion that Hahn is not acting in the best interest of this city.

Nobody has to "prove" anything. The burden of proof has long been surpassed. Just as you don't need substance to prove a very bad odor, the burden for an elected official is no more than mere perception.

Wait a minute didn't Bart Simpson say "I didn't do it, you didn't see me and you can't prove it". Is he Mayor Jim's speech writer now? 'Course on the other hand if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck & quacks like a duck- it's a duck. Doesn't that ruffle your feathers a little Mr. Mayor? This from the same guy who's got so many conflicted appointments on the Harbor Commission that they have to refrain from voting on important issues due to CONFLICTS OF INTEREST. C'mon plausible deniability only goes so far.

The other four candidates have the nerve to talk about ethics, scandal. Well let's say two of the mayoral candidates like Antonio and Parks. Parks allowed RAmpart to become a scandal. Antonio has mroe baggage that will eventually come out then the Mayor and Parks together.

Let the games begin!
