Deaton the Tent Maker?

Now you think a little dust up over about $3000 worth of tents to shade DWP workers from the sun would escape the radar of the Daily News, but no way, the city's most on it newspaper was doing a jim dandy bang up job.

Turns out that the tents bought from Cal Olympic Supply did not meet state fire safety requirements.

However there's more to it than that. Local gadfly Candido Marez - a frequent critic of DWP practices owns a Northridge based company that bid to supply the proper tents for $5000. Candido says that DWP staff froze out his bid cause he, well, doesn't like them very much. A corrective slap from some City Council members got the DWP to reverse the previous purchase, return the substandard tents and pick up the right ones from Candido.

Boy is Deaton in for a fun ride!

Deaton needs to retire. I couldn't stand the way he would go to council and act like he was the big honcho. I especially didn't like the way he handled the Parker Center issue. He played with the numbers and got busted....

He's too old and needs to leave the city.

C'mon folks Deaton's only coming to DWP to find some money for Mayor Jim, get a bump in his retirement & make DWP pay for it. He's on a three year deal, whether he stays that long or not. Now Mayor Jim's got him out of City Hall in an exempt position, he can get rid of Ron anytime too. Careful Ron u might not be there long.

Google is now serving up ads on Mayor Sam I see and I guess their gee whiz technology does it based on the content on the page.

Well anyway, I see there was an ad for a tent company on the tent story, so maybe the DWP could visit:

http://www.ohenrytents.com/

If they do, maybe Mayor Sam will get a buck.

If you read the post about Antonio and the DNC, they've got ads for a recall election in Texas and something about a guy running for Mayor in Taiwan.

Maybe those are some openings Antonio can pursue.

Hear ye! Hear ye!
Come one. Come all.

The captain’s mates have boarded her, and the mates are havin’ a ball.
Treasure you're after? Skullduggery, perhaps? DWP ‘s been lynched by City Hall.

Come take a gold piece! While you’re at it, take three!
Come on ye old fogies, walk the plank on the DWP!

Promise me a river, a park, and an aerodrome for sure,
Never mind the flickerin’ lights. The water‘s still pure.

Grab your coat, cap, and knapsack to stow your big pay.
The pipes underground are a rustin. We ain’t got all day!

Drinkin’ rum by the barrel and singin the whole way,
Before they realize what hap’ned, We’ll be well underway.

We’ll leave ‘em plenty of lead fish, salt water and brine
Cold rooms, smelly fish, by candlelight they’ll dine.

Aaarrrh!

I don't care who they pick as long as it's NOT MIKE HERNANDEZ. He should have been put away a long time ago for that cocaine bust.
