Outtakes from CD 14: "Team Huizzy/Villar going the sleaze route"

"Team Huizzy/Villar is watching you!!"
Hola from a undisclosed location within CD 14 where the prying eyes of Team Huizzy/Villar, cannot see our efforts in bring you the latest on the dirty chisme that suffices for campaign news.
From the "private hilltop bunker" above CD 14/1/South Pasadena, Parke Skelton unleashes his latest attack that the LA Weekly covers this morning. Parke's M.O. is all over this "leak" as the Weekly reports that somehow CD 14 Candidate Rudy Martinez had an authentic LAPD badge on his possession and was linked to former LAPD Deputy Chief David Kalish, who was one of the first openly gay command officers on the force.
Kalish, who Martinez met as a LAPD Explorer Scout and is an employer for the candidate's house-flipping firm Piedmont Financial, was relieved of duty in 2003 while under investigation for allegations that he had molested a explorer under his charge. But the Weekly cites a reliable source who states that Kalish "was exonerated in court". Martinez who was a explorer at the same time of the alleged molestation, cites Kalish as a mentor and father figure in his response to the Weekly post today.
For those who have met Martinez and listen to his life story, one will find that he has the upmost respect for law enforcement and would find it hard that he would do anything to lose the trust of many, that he had befriended in the law enforcement community.
But what is amusing here in Parke's latest attempt to smear Martinez and introduce "innuendos" into the CD 14 elections proceedings, is that fact that Councilman Jose Huizar has used LAPD and General Services Police resources on multiple occasions to "monitor or prevent actions"( ask Elena Popp what happen to her at the "Great CD 14 Filibuster") of CD 14 constituents, that would cast Councilman Huizar in a negative light (notice photo above?).
but most egregious here is the "smear by association" of former LAPD Deputy Chief David Kalish and Rudy Martinez. Lets hold nothing back here by stating that while the badge issue is one worthy of further vetting, the fact that the same "LAPD tipster" would seek to introduce some sort of "inappropiate innuendo" regarding the relationship between Kalish and Martinez, deserves to be denounced and condemn by all within the diverse CD 14 community. Can we discuss the issues, not supposed innuendos regarding two now business associates past relationship?
** By the way, the supposed LAPD tipster might be interested to see and hear what Councilman Huizar had to say about the supposed unprovoked actions of his colleagues on an infamous day in recent LA history. Or more likely it wasn't a LAPD officer who provided the tip to the LA Weekly?
Your thoughts ..............
Scott Johnson in CD 14

Red Spot,

There are too many grammatical errors here for me to correct.

Please take it down, run spellcheck and grammarcheck and put it back up.

It's bad enough for someone to be wrong. But wrong and illiterate is offensive.

Grow haters. At least Scott does a service to many who unlike you losers wont' attack hm for dumb shit. Facts are LAPD Hollenbeck copers hate Sleazy Huizy too much documentation of Huizar the Mexican MAfia Thug supporting the gangsters. Wasn't there a Fox 11 video of Huizar criticizing cops before actually getting the facts? Yes. Huizar wastes valuable police resources and demands that LAPD babysit his events. Poor Officers sit for hours at meetings, events not really to do public safety but because the loser Huizar thinks he's fooling people. Everyone in CD14 knows Huizar does not support LAPD, a known fact citywide. How much money has Huizar helped with OT at Hollenbeck? I can tell you other Councilmembers have chipped in their districts to help out and get more cops on the street. Huizar was the ONLY councilmember to vote in support of DWP this week.

What is the deal with endless posts about CD14?

I don't know enough about Red Spot to complain about him, other than to say that things are a bit over the top with the CD14 material.

And before he lashes out at me about going elsewhere, or namecalling, I would suggest you tally the percentage of CD14 stories in the past few weeks.

I'm totally confused. Who molested whom? Was it consensual? In the back of a police cruiser? Parke got the whole thing on film?

I read the first sentence of your comment, and will read the rest in a moment.

But I have to ask you a question.

Exactly what "public service" did Scott do in the Mike Gatto matter? I'm sure you remember the comments he made, that turned out to be FALSE, and for which he had to retract AND apologize for when Higby was threatened with a law suit.

If Red Spot's comments were the TRUTH, the TRUTH is a perfect defense.

Obviously, and all honest people know, that much of Red Spot's "public service" turned out to be conjecture and lies.

In that case, the bullied stood up to the bully, and the bully backed off.

As for criticizing Scott, you'll remember that Higby told the LA Times that MS is a "rough & tumble" environment. As someone who loves dishing out abuse as much as Red Spot does, surely he can stand up to fair minded criticism.

P.S. Check mate.

Red Spot. Red herring.

The issues are:

Why did Martinez have a LAPD Badge in his possession for years, clearly in violation of LAPD policy?

Who gave the badge to Rudy?

Whose badge was it?

The LAPD spokesperson flatly contradicted Rudy's ridiculous story that he was given the badge to create fundraising "tchotchkes."

What is the real story?

Does Rudy's abrupt resignation from the Reserve program have anything to do with the fact that his possession of the badge was exposed?

No wonder Rudy doesn't mention his affiliation with the LAPD Reserves anywhere in his campaign materials.

Martinez is starting to make Alvin Parra look credible.

You're slowing down Reed Snit. Someone debunked your whole "it's just them being sleazy" rationalizing exercise (on a previous thread), even before you finished dancing around the real issue to post something here. As shown below, Rudy M. is simply not transparent, clean, ethical, responsible, accountable, etc. etc. Ever piece of dirt unveiled about him from now on he will blame on other "tactics."

Look up "accountable" - that's NOT what it means. And now Scott Johnson is trying to HELP the candidate not be accountable for his own mistakes and poor judgement.

Go, Rudy, Go!

Must we put up with this week-by-week unveiling of yet another seriously flawed character who wants to "save" us from the incumbents, and who's only real "qualification" is he's rich enough to try and buy a council seat?

All the while the Huizar haters try to rationalize continuing to lower our standards because (THEY say... ) "well, Jose is worse" and never offer any proof, other than he voted against what they were for in their own little self-interested worlds.

Rudy Rich needs to go back to being a simple, self-serving capitalist, and stop wasting voters' time. The filing deadline just passed YESTERDAY and we've already heard more unsavory issues surrounding this new "Mr. Transparent" and "Mr. Accountable -- none of which HE has actually revealed (in the interest of BEING transparent); none of which HE is willing to be accountable for now -- than anyone has ever suggested about Huizar in a decade of public life.

"Transparent" people don't keep blaming on "political dirty tricks" the fact that they have lots and lots of bad political baggage, which they were so arrogant as to think no one would dig into and report, or that just wouldn't matter to people so DESPERATE for a change in office (NOT!)

If Red Spot thinks' Gil Cedillo is a "Victim" then just keep watching Rudy Rich try to blame the increasing number of very real skeletons in his closet on the one Skelton working for Huizar. "Parque" may be very good at his job, but he can't go back in time and make Rudy do some of the really STOOPID things now coming out about him, and which are likely to be just the tip of the iceberg (can you image what the early March "surprise" is going to be after all this dripping water torture?)

Whether they do it for a fee or to boost their own candidate's chances doesn't matter in the end. When political hacks reveal just how flawed a challenger's character really is, they perform a service for us.

If we're also too STOOPID to pay attention, then we get what we deserve.

Rudy has a criminal record. Was that after, before or during his Explorer days? Mister Law Enforcement. LMAO.

And Red Snot, how about being fair and balanced? Do you ever admit that Huizar is right on some items? People might take you seriously for a change. But then you like being the guy with the Dirty Martinez on your upper lip while complaining that Huizzy thinks his shit don't stink.

It is interesting to see how early the Huizar team is attacking Martinez. They must be truly afraid of this rookie or Huizar must be really weak in his own district. I hear this is the only council race worth watching and I look forward to all the fireworks.

Red Spot,

I'm not one of your detractors. I've stuck up for your efforts many times. This time, though, I don't understand half of what you are trying to say. This post is full of hints at facts and implications of I don't know what. You really do need an editor, badly.

Please answer 4:13's questions. These facts are what should have been in your post to start with, not a bunch of nonsense that leaves everything hanging in the air.

1:29 PM - I live in CD 14 . I can tell you that the shenanigans in this district are nonstop and people are always 'up in the air' about one thing or another. There's a lot more going on that is not covered. Please tell us about all the stuff in your CD!!

Does anyone care to comment about Councilman Huizar's in appropiate use of law enforcement resources?

seems to me that rudy took owmership for his past actions. Meanwhile, Councilman Huizar lies about the root causes of the May Day Melee. Maybe this was why Huizar was mum during the recent round of protest, after the justify shooting of the knife-weldings homeless man in the Pico-Union area.

Red Spot, clearly, no one is commenting on what YOU repeatedly comment about and say is "in appropiate use of law enforcement resources" (it's inappropriate by the way, one word, not two) because no one agrees with you. Having cops at large public events is a smart thing to do, and I would expect no less. Get off of it.

And Huizar probably didn't have much to say about "the recent round of protest, after the justify shooting of the knife-weldings homeless man in the Pico-Union area." (I believe what you mean to write was the recent rounds - not round - of protests - not protest - after the justified - not justify - shooting of a knife wielding - not knife-weldings - homeless man in the Pico-Union area) because THAT'S NOT IN HIS DISTRICT.

Both you and Mr. Martinez apparently need to learn where CD14 actually is. And for goodness sake, please learn to spell.

WONG, wonrg, and you didn't actually "hear" anything -- you just made it up).

Rudy Martinez is being
attacked here primarily because he's being HEAVILY promoted by one of the writers of this blog (who usually spends most of his time attacking Huizar).

He's being "attacked" because he's unqualified for the position he seeks and is only considered viable because he's rich enough to buy his own way in.

He's beiong "attacked" because week-by-week his claims of being "transparent" and "accountable" are appearing more and more false and hypocitical, as a growing number of past acts betray a shady charact who lack's good judgement (throwing a valid polic badge in his glove compartment, where it could easily be stolen -- REALLY?)

That's reason enough to "attack" the ambitions of an untrained, poor leader with oversized ambitions that serve only his own ego. If he was running unopposed and Huizar was not even even in the race, that kind of a shallow, unworthy candidate should still be "attacked" as being unfit to serve on City Council.

Wake the fuck up peoplkee. THe qwuestions you should be asking is why HUIZAR WAS THE ONLY ONE TO VOTE IN SUPPORT OF DWP THIS WEEK? Where did all the CLARTS MONEY GO? Why Huizar doesn't want to admit there aren't 80 NEIGHBORHOOD WATCHES IN CD14? WHY did Huizar LIE to the constituents about Measure B, Lied and helped LA Legacy get $$$, is more corrupt with downtown developers helping Meurelo buy real estate, NAMED a street corner on 7th & Broadway AFTER Deljiani Iranian family just because they gave him campaign money. HIRED FRIENDS FROM Zacateras
helping them set up shop in CD14. Repeatedly pretends he needs cops but only for photo ops and Hollenbeck HATE him ask the gang cops who say he gives his cell to gangsters of Hazard. Watch this video and hear Huizar slam LAPD

Martinez is NOT "rich enough to buy his own way in."

Council member Jose Huizar in 2005 spent $736,482.47 to get elected.

$664,086.03 reported for period ending 12/31/05

$72,396.44 reported for period ending 6/30/2006

$163,435.33 was also spent in 2005 by special interest to get Huizar elected

$899,917.80 was the going rate for a council seat in 2005 and Huizar got elected.

Factoring in inflation, a person wanting to "buy" the seat, as you say, would have to spent over a MILLION dollars to "buy" it.

Mr. Martinez's $150 thousand is not going to "buy" him anything and shouldn't even make him viable against someone that we know is going to spend over a MILLION ($1,000,000.00) dollars to save his career.

This begs the question, "why would Huizar be worried about a guy who has $200,000.00 when he is going to spend a MILLION ($1,000,000.00) himself to win?"

It could be that giving the voters any choice is too risky for Huizar's re-election campaign, so kill anybody NOW. That is why the heavy attacks on Martinez.

I am not commenting on the validity of the attacks. I am making an observation about the fact that it so early in the campaign and they are so intensely trying to get rid of Martinez.

There must be a reason the Huizar campaign so strongly fears this Martinez candidate.

But if he DID mention it in his campaign materials you would be outraged that he is using it in his campaign materials.

I'm not outraged that he mentions military reserve service, or chamber membership, or even being on a "reality" TV show.

Candidates are what they are, and every one has a spinmeister that pushes that fact that all forms of the "experience" will help them once elected to Council.

In a district where every challenger likes to pose themselves with fake LAPD officers for their mailer slicks, someone who actually has some semblence of a law-enforcement background NOT mentioning having been a police reserve is more than a little suspicious.

Way more than a little suspicious.

Rudy's getting less and less "transparent" every day, and more and more "apparent" that he's someone propped up by sour grapes past losers and his own money, but with no real aptitude for the job.

December 13, 2010 1:36 PM

Anonymous Anonymous said:

Martinez is "propped up by sour grapes past losers"???

Are you making some sort of reference to people who have lost to Huizar in the past??

Well, there are only two people who have lost to Huizar in the past, Nick Pacheco and Alvin Parra.

Nick Pacheco isn't a "sour grapes past loser" because in 2007 to the surprise of many of his supporters Pacheco endorsed and helped Huizar defeat Alvin Parra. This doesn't look like someone that is a "sour grapes past loser".

Now Alvin Parra may be helping Rudy Martinez but I haven't seen anything to back that up.

Did you drink some anti-Martinez cool-aid that says you should create a fictional Wizard of Oz in CD 14????

What's more interesting is what did Huizar do to piss-off Martinez to the point he would run against a friend.

In 2006, Mia Sushi restaurant opened up with a Huizar Roll (CD14) menu item and it is still on the menu. (check out the website)

$11 bucks for a sushi roll that has shrimp tempura with eel and avocado on top.

Huizar must have done something really bad to Martinez to get him so pissed off that he would spend $150,000.00 dollars of his own money to get him out of office.

1:36, what could that be? You have any insight on that??? I am sure as the campaign gets nastier and uglier all this will come out.
