In related news, Stephen Box and Tom LaBonge are the only two contenders for the CD4 council seat that have actually qualified as candidates. The deadline to submit petitions is Dec 8.

Potential lawsuit? Is this something that arose between the time he took out papers and the present? Or is he withdrawing instead because it's so hard to get 500 strangers to sign anything? I suspect it's the latter.

I'm sorry, but I have to say it, Frank Sheftel looks like a modern day Larry of The Three Stooges.
But serioiusly, can you PLEASE change the photo? It's creeping me out. I'm sure Sheftel is an okay guy, but the photo says "axe murderer."

Despite MANY last place finishes, and self-promoting, how much would anyone like to wager that BOTH Sheftel and Jennerjahn are going to keep doing these damaging, self-absorbed "Vanity Campaigns?"
I'm not alone in thinking this. John Phillips (the Al Rantel wannabe) at KABC long ago CORRECTLY predicted that the only thing Phil Jennerjahn does is vanity campaigns to boost his ego, and that he is not a serious candidate.
But embarrassment after embarrassment, people like Phil & Frank will keep running, and keep distracting voters.
The fact that Frank dropped out surprises "NOONE." The only remaining question is when these dopes will do it again.
PS-If anyone thinks Sheftel dropped out because of a potential conflict in suing the city, there is no conflict. Frank is/WAS a candidate who had no chance to win. He could have kept going and not have any conflict.
Truth be told, Frank didn't want to put in the effort to garner 500 signatures. That's exactly why Jennerjahn quit.

Jennerjahn quit after just two hours and not getting a single vote. Of course, he won't learn his lesson. He will be back.
Sheftel had the same experience. If he's honest, he will probably say he got roughly triple the number of signatures that Phil got.
Yeah, a lawsuit that springs up out of nowhere. Right.
Too bad. I was going to vote for Frank.
Great. So a candy- and pot-dealer isn't going to run in an election he had zero chance of winning.

I guarantee you that Frank got as many signatures as Phil Jennerjahn got. Zero. I doubt Frank even tried. He probably just read what Phil wrote, and layed down.
And talk about bluster, Phil says he MIGHT sue the city over the requirement of 500 signatures.

But watch, they'll line up to back Rudy Martinez to beat Jose because they want to feel like they picked SOMETHING right. Losers on a sideline.
I have to say this, but I really hate Phil Jennerjahn. Everything he does is for self-aggrandizement.

What does it matter if Frank could collect 2 or 3 times the number of votes he did last time, or that much more than Phil?
The goal is to win. The truth is that none of these challengers have a plan or the ability to do what's needed to win.
If you're trying to collect signatures on your nominating petition by yourself, you don't have the support of enough people to qualify as even a grassroots candidate.
So much for pulling out the "rolling papers" Frank.

The only thing a successful business man has to do to get 500 signatures is write the check. Anyone who thinks Sheftel pulled out due to signatures is just blowing hot air. In time when so many folks can't see past their own petty critical nature, it is nice to see someone like Sheftel do whats right for his employees, family and businesses. Its easy to sit at your keyboard and hurl snide wise cracks but try running two successful businesses. When you do that, maybe you will have a leg to stand on, but until then, keep it as it makes you look like an angry short sighted individual.
Wait hold up..Frank Sheftel was never IN the race. I mean he said he was running, but that doesn't mean he actually stood any kind of chance, 'specially with his idiot campaign manager. Didn't Sheftel just run in CD2 and pontificate about how PK was moving into the district? Then he carpetbags into CD4?? What a dumbass!!!
