Jennerjahn: Recall Going Nowhere

With scandals and investigations going on around Mayor Villaraigosa he goes into his holiday weekend with perhaps a little less stress.

Nearly three months to the day that our April Fools' post "predicted" it would happen, and for pretty much the same reasons, gadfly Phil Jennerjahn appears to be on the verge of dropping his efforts to recall the Mayor.

Writing at his Jennerjahn Report blog Phil states that the recall campaign is "facing some daunting obstacles, and if the situation does not change, this initial Recall attempt will not succeed."

Among the challenges against the effort according to Jennerjahn is that he has collected nowhere near the quarter million valid signatures required to put the effort on the ballot, that fundraising has been woefully inadeqaute and that there is little time to turn things around before the August 18th deadline required for filing the recall petitions.

Phil also complains about a lack of support and help on the campaign saying, "I can't do everything on my own, people...I can't help a City that won't cooperate."

Jennerjahn says he is open to starting over with a new recall effort but only if individuals and organizations with funds and resources step forward to join in.

Phil failed because no one wants to support a recall campaign run by a name calling, gay bashing, self promoting phony. Sadly, Phil's disastrous recall campaign has damaged any future efforts by sincere activists to bring change to this city through the recall process. If it wasn't for that, this would have all been comedy at its finest.

Phil, the problem is not that it failed because nobody wanted to help, it was because it was a bad idea to begin with and you aren't a leader, so you would help guarantee that even good ideas failed.

You probably started the effort to gain publicity for yourself, but of course in the end the whole thing just associated you with another failure.

Don't forget that David Hernandez, Walter Moore, Deje Cootee, and Frank
Sheftel's mom also contributed to this epic fail!

PHIL JENNERJAHN FORGOT TO MENTION THE #1 REASON WHY THE RECALL "PHAILED":

Phil once said, "All I need is 1,000 volunteers, to gather 2,400 signatures each."

Phil couldn't get 5 volunteers to get 20 signatures each.

Instead, he squandered preciosu time and money on POKER, football, and other GAMBLING fantasies. Got a problem there Phil? GAMBLING seems to be interfering with your regular activities. Get help. 800-GAMBLER.

Folks don't bag on Sheftel's mom; she is a nice lady. I am certain that she was just trying to help Phil and David who she sees as "nice boys."

You don't need to say nasty things about someone's mom.

Anyway I do seem to remember that Phil said that he would have the last laugh on me and Joe B.

Had Phil asked before he started this I could have saved him a lot of trouble.

Suggestion to anyone who was working on the recall or thinking of helping or giving money: switch your efforts to the CLEAN SWEEP program with Walter Moore, Ron Kaye and Nina Royal et al. This makes more sense. Let's find, groom and support candidates in the first place.

And Phil is not the right person to be running. He's a good guy and smart in many ways but his intentions, while not necessarily dishonorable, don't fit with the effort to elect people to turn the city around.

Give me two ways that Phil is smart, Higby?

He dropped out of law school. Even Villaraigosa got throught that.

He couldn't assess that Krekorian would beat E$$el.

He couldn't come CLOSE to the number of votes a broke and homeless man got in the race for Mayor.

THINK ABOUT THAT!

He came in last place in a three horse race.

He poses for photos on a cloudy day with sunglasses on.

He tells the world he is going to focus on the recall, and then ANNOUNCES that he's going to squander more time to go PLAY poker.

Talk about shooting the project in the foot!

I can't think of ONE way that Phil is smart. But since you know him personally and allowed him to run roughshod on your blog, you must know more about him. So please name TWO ways that Phil is smart.

Gloria Sheftel is not senile. She signed her name to a petition as a LEAD name.

If she doesn't realize what that means by just ASKING, and if she is not suffering from Alzheimers, she needs to be called out in the same way the ring leaders are.

It doesn't matter if she is "nice." This isn't a criticism of her niceness, if that is what she is.

Phil tried to lay blame on the others, saying that "I can't do this alone," thus suggesting that the others didn't carry their weight.

It was a response to what Phil said.

WHAT two areas do you think Phil is "smart?"

Phil Jennerjahn is a dishonest prick. Here's why.

Until just a few days ago, he never let on that there were problems. A good leader knows how to set EXPECTATIONS. Phil set us up as suckers, because he never told us that there were problems.

And now, the day before a long weekend, he drops the news on us. We all knew he was lying all along because he could never show evidence of progress. Just bullshit every day.

Now this.

Stop saying he's a bright guy Mayor Sam, unless you can back it up. Phil Jennerjahn is a lying, conniving prick.

I agree with all other comments here.

I disagree higbie,

the orignial signers are all responsible for the blame. and one of them is gloria sheftel.

her participation wasn't dismissed as being that of a "little old lady" when the recall started, and it cannot be discounted now that it failed.

they're all to blame, including glorie sheftel. sorry but your wrong

It's okay to be critical of the signers of the petitions but it's not okay to post crude things about Mrs. Sheftel.
