KRLA 870 AM's Kevin James moving to 12-3 AM Time Slot on July 6

"Late night radio again for Kevin James"
KRLA 870 AM Talk Radio Host Kevin James, just announced that his show will begin at midnight, instead of 11:00 PM, as previously noted.
While this may cause consternation to those who religiously tune in James for their fix of local political news, KRLA added a third hour.
James reiterated that his tour of the Neighborhood Council System is still paramount and listeners will benefited from an expanded pod cast availability.
Let me be the first to invite James to a new and vastly improved LA 32 Neighborhood Council, which I was just elected Recording Secretary. See you soon Kevin!!
Your thoughts..............

Kevin has been on the air in LA since Jan 2003 - he has survived numerous station cuts at more than one station in town. He will survive this change too. I don't always agree with him, but his idea to tour the NC's is smart! No media person is willing to work as hard around town as he does. A new angle on local radio. No one covers local issues like this guy - and he actually does so from a common sense standpoint (even though his station says "conservative" talk radio).

It's the only time Phil Jennerjahn comes in first.

Sticking with Neighborhood Councils right through the sleepytime slot is like letting it ride all in on your two jakes openers and calling Visa to ask if they can add a little something to your credit line...

Red Spot,

Midnight to 3am isn't "late night."

It's early morning.

I don't know if they told you this on either of the three days you went to school, but the morning begins at midnight. Almost every day!

They're adding Glenn Beck, as though he doesn't have enough exposure.

Replacing a local buffoon with one with a national reputation.

Yeah, this turkey's done - his rightwing rants and flawed, hateful take on local politics must have gotten too much even for KRLA. Guess regulars John Thomas, Cooley, Zine and the Nooch, Walter Moore and Rita of Sunland, will have to find a new place for unlimited, free airtime.

This was purely a money thing for KRLA. I work at another station, a KRLA competitor and have access to the ratings info and James has the highest ratings of the whole KRLA lineup, but all radio stations are going more and more syndication. Except KFI which is why KFI is first in the market. If they wanted to get rid of James they would have just cancelled his show. Beck is a huge name that wasn't on in LA so KRLA grabbed him without firing any of their lineup - sucks for James though being the only local guy.

This basically the same shift he did at KABC when Doug McIntyre moved over to the mornings.

Now it means he's on at the same time as McIntyre, especially if you do as I do and listen to the WABC feed.

The NC thing is an interesting idea. No one else is doing that and there's a lot of drama there. Not sure if it works in this time frame but if anything Kevin will give more attention to the NCs, good, bad and indifferent.

But the guy was right about KFI. Because of their signal they can reach a wide audience and get more than decent ratings. This means they can air more local programs and they never have to carry the infomercial crap that KRLA and KABC does.

Just how badly do you want to be on "reddio" dude?

Geez, no one sane is listening at that hour. Actually, no one sane is BROADCASTING at that hour.

You would have thought Tony Villar's public approval slide would have done SOMETHING for Kev, but apparently he's a goner even when his enemies are in decline.

"Me am bepuzzeld"

(Did that one slip by everyone??)

"...a new and vastly improved LA 32 Neighborhood Council, which I was just elected Recording Secretary."

In just exactly WHAT Bizzaro World does the City's LEAST functionally literate blogger get a job as SECRETARY of a pseudo-governmental body?

Reed Spit, taking minutes? WHOOOO, Ha! Even in CD14, that's just WEIRD! Granted no one else wants those jobs, but GEEZ!

(Wouldn't that be something like finding out that Obama just appointed GW Bush as head librarian for the LIBERRY of CONGERUSS?)

BTW, RS, the sentence in which you ANNOUNCE your new post is grammatically and grossly incorrect.

"OF which is was just elected..."

"FOR which I was just elected..." do SOMETHING there, to FINISH the thought!

Higby,

Isn't it time for you to do another boring Saturday night internet radio show?

You seem to think that this makes you good and therefore it makes you know about terrestrial radio.

The podcasts of the shows by Doug McIntyre and Kevin James now allow for a full night's sleep and a choice to check in on topics on both shows AND without any commercials, so listening live as the sole audience source is a thing of the past.

The syndication offerings are at a low or irresitible cost I have been told.

410pm, I am pissing in my pants and your hilarious assessment of Reed Spit's inarticulateness, and the irony of his maintaining meeting minutes.

Bravo. That was hysterical. I thought that I was the only one to make such comments.

you are not the only ones laughing - a set of village idiots voted him in and at the end, those on the "new and vastly improved neighborhood council" will have to suffer the consequences of irresponsible acts and lack of real commitment to the community - not only is he illiterate, he is also not a stakeholder in El Sereno like many others on that board - vastly improved? Doubt it! There are only a handful of actually committed and hard workers on that board!
