comes from Eric Spillman of KTLA he says "didn't you learn anything at all from from McArthur Park".

Eric was really enjoying annoying the cop who pushed the reporter by asking him for his name and badge number.

Eric is a whuss. These idiot reporters are the scum of the earth. They are vultures to get a story and when you see two burly cops basically trying to get you to not go any further and the idiot female reporters tries to run pass them she deserved what she got. I'm sick of these idiot reporters acting like the victims. The reporters are very competitive to beat the other guy out for a story they create dangerous situations for everyone. I'm glad the press that got hit at MacArthur sure deserved it. Other reporters have said they had no business right there with the cops but we're all desperate to get the story up front. LOSERS

Well, I looked at both videos and, sorry, the real beef is with the Mayor, not the cops or security.

The security only seem to be doing what they were instructed to do and keep the press away or at a distance - your argument is with Villar and his people on that one. When the press decided to make a run for the gate and the security or cop ran to prevent them from getting there, looks to me like he was doing his job.

Now, while I am sure it wasn't polite, that shove just did not look all that serious or threatening. She didn't even fall over, she also did not hit the side of that container all that hard either...sorry - once again, too much drama being made of too little. Weak, whiney little princesses (that would be the women AND the men) are becoming irritating ... she took her chances making a run for that gate when she knew the cops were there to keep them all away from it.

It looks to me like cops doing what they were told to do in keeping the press contained. If you don't like that or feel it is inappropriate, I really think you need to take it up with the people who gave the orders...

Reporter shoved at mayor's press event
BY RACHEL URANGA Staff Writer
Article Last Updated: 08/03/2007 01:45:29 PM PDT

Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa's effort to put his affair with a local Telemundo reporter behind him backfired this morning when a Port of Los Angeles police officer protecting him shoved a Spanish-language reporter against a steel container.

The mayor, who for weeks has been hounded at public events over his affair with KVEA reporter Mirthala Salinas, attempted to tightly control a morning press conference on port cleanup programs.

It was his first public appearance after Telemundo announced Thursday that Salinas would be suspended for two months without pay. Three of her superiors were also punished for their part in the scandal, including KVEA General Manager Manuel Abud, who was transferred, and News Director Al Corral, who also was suspended for two months without pay.

"I am not going to comment or speculate on the decision of Telemundo or their investigation," Villaraigosa told a crowd of more than a dozen reporters and news cameras. "It's time to move on and move on we will.

"Now that Telemundo's review has reached a conclusion, it's my hope that we can all move forward. I intend to do that by working as hard as I can every single day."

After fielding several questions, the usually

camera-friendly mayor left through two large shipping containers and beyond a gate. The reporters followed.
But a line of port police attempted to cordon them off. Several asked why they were being held back.

As a crowd of reporters pushed forward toward the mayor, Azteca America reporter Alicia Unger ran toward the gate. As she approached, a port police officer pushed her against the steel container.

"He pushed me with his hand, pushed me against the container, slammed me there," she said.

"The whole media was trying to interview the mayor but security is not allowing us and I think they are violating our rights once again," she said, referring to the Los Angeles Police Department's violent confrontation with the members of the media and the public during a May 1st immigration rights rally at MacArthur Park.

Sgt. Ken Hawkes of the Port of Los Angeles police said the agency will launch an internal investigation into the officer's actions.

Another said: "You can't hit a woman like that."

A visibly shaken Unger, who reports for Azetca America Channel 54, then shouted at the officer: "Why are you pushing me?"

It's obvious due to his shameful personal trangressions, Villaraigosa cannot properly do his job. Now either directly or indirectly, he is having goons manhandle reporters so he cannot be asked embarrassing questions.

Every day this discredited buffoon stays in office, he brings further embarrassment to himself and more importantly, this once great city.

Villaraigosa, you are a sad joke. And you have failed. The people of Los Angeles DEMAND that you resign.

Villaraigosa customarily lingers after news conferences to answer additional questions from reporters and allow cameras to follow him to his vehicle.

But today, as the mayor strode from the podium, a half-dozen port police officers formed a skirmish line to block reporters and cameramen from approaching him.

"How come we're not allowed to talk to him?" one reporter barked.

Seems like SOMEONE has a new practice or strategy to shield the Mayor.

However,

Spokesman Matt Szabo later said that the mayor's office did not order port police to keep reporters away from Villaraigosa.

Glad to see that even on this blog, usually thirsty for AV's blood, most people blame the "bloodthirsty" mob of press. You can't call them reporters or journalists any more, since they actually prevent the dissemination of real news. The clean truck thing may not be sexy, but it impacts the health of area residents and truckers, and is a good start.

The sad thing about this whole scandal has been how quickly the MSM became no better than the slimy paparazzi.

And that Unger woman looks awfully happy at HER subsequent press conference: she's a nobody who got her name and ugly, fat face in the media for violating a cop's direct order to disperse. If any of us did that, we'd be arrested, as she should, too. If she's Mexican, deport her -- let her try this stuff back "home."

The way Zahniser says a male reporter "barked" his question, why they were not allowed to "interview" (i.e., NOT interview, but ignore what the Mayor was saying and harass) the Mayor, shows that even Z was pretty struck by how rude this unruly mob was.

Not only are they supposed to obey a cop's orders to disperse -- clearly, this is how they behaved at McArthur Park, too, then blamed the cops -- but in this case, the Mayor was entered a secured area. This pushy, unruly mob had NOT been given security clearance. Ports ae like airports that way.

That ugly Unger woman behaved like a little creep, kept dashing around the cop, giving him no choice. I'm sick of these slimy press people creating incidents, then dragging the Police Dept. through another money and time-wasting review. We need cops on the streets protecting us. At this rate, they'll figure it's easier to just let mobs rule.

Matt Szabo and the Mayor's office shouldn't have caved to fast and implied wrong-doing by the security cop who was just doing his job. Matt should have just shut up "pending an investigation" or something. By showing weakness this way, tney're asking for even more aggressive, bloodthirsty press to demand satisfaction.

4:48: Actually, Spillman came off in that "debate" as jealous of bloggers, who don't have to live by pesky old- fashioned rules like verifying facts, and could basically do and say whatever they want, getting a "story" out there faster. If it's a lie, so what, they have no accountability.

Spillman was saying that the MSM had been too nice and careful, losing them some time in "breaking" stories.

Well, he's leading the pack of the new-world order of newspaper slimeballs now.

Meanwhile, one of the posts on this blog is a reminder that this story about the Mexican reporter will have a lot more resonance in the Mexican community, where many of them apparently know and watch this woman. They see everything from "the Mexican Mayor let us down" angle.

Well, if you're a Mexican reporter and too ugly to sleep with the Mayor, you can always get your mug in the press by chasing him and provoking a confrontation with the cops. The cops are a good, reliable punching bag for Mexicans these days.

The fact that a reporter was near a bin tells me they were already in a restricted site, the press should actually respect federal law and stop trying to be the next asshole with a more gossippy scoop.

I support the port police and I am sure federal law backs them up.

But of course the idiots on this blog know everything about the port, right?

Why was the video clip changed? The first one was from a different camera and was a much more complete view of the incident. It looks like the press conference was held in the longshore parking lot (an unsecured area) and the reporter was running towards the gate into the secured terminal. The cop is a big guy, if he had body checked the rather small reporter, she would have not been standing.
But the big question is why after shoving his face in front of the news cameras for two years, the mayor expects to continue getting a free pass from the press who are now realized they have been played. You cannot get in bed with a group (pun intended) then kick them out (or at least most of them) and not expect someone to get pissed. Might some reporters be angry at what they see as the mayor’s girlfriend (squeeze, sweetie-pie, gal, doll, moll, soul mate, honey, loved one, significant other, love of his life - pick one as suits your inclination) got away with a breach of professionalism (to put it mildly) because the status of her lover. But then again why would Universal want make the mayor angry while they still need him. Speaking of pissed people, has anyone heard anything about the mayor’s soon to be ex-wife?

SO what are they putting in the water out in L.A.? Richard Riordan, its for mer mayor, left his wife, Nancy, because, at age 73, he had two mistresses - one 43, one 34. Now you've maybe just heard that Antonio Villaraigosa, the town's current mayor, split with his wife of 20 years, with whom he has two kids. Why? Because he has a mistress - a Telemundo TV reporter who actually reported his June 8 marital split. But not to be outdone by the former mayor who obviously has Viagra as well as chutzpah because he had two ladies-in-waiting - comes now hush hush whisper whisper wink wink word that Mayor Villaraigosa also has a backup mistress. As I understand it, his inauguration speech promised to look into the big problems - crime, corruption, condoms.

Stay tuned for this ongoing saga titled Mistress: The Sequel.

12:27: Didn't you hear, the proper term is Chicano, not Hispanic, which is too vague and can denote anyone from any Latin American country. (Are Spaniards lumped in there, too?)

Some people get a little huffy about the distinction...

On the other hand, they call us white people "anglos," even Schwarzenegger whose English is dubious, and then there's my Italian grandma who's Sicilian and my Czech and German and Bulgarian friends and neighbors, who mangle the English language even worse than Arnie. And now even light-skinned Persians are "anglo," since there's no special designation for them.

The only real "anglos" are people from England -- even Scots and the Welch and the Irish would quibble with about being "anglos." If you want to call us something, we are "European Americans" with even closer connections to our "home" continent in general than the blacks who now prefer "AFrican-American." So if someone calls you a "Hispanic American/ California, take it as a compliment and consistent with the rest of us.

So get off your high horse about distinctions between how-many generation "Chicanos," you Latinos: you're in OUR country, this isn't and never was Aztlan or Mexican territory and not subject to YOUR terminology.

Notice how this disappeared from tv news as the evening wore on: people must have been outraged at the so- called reporters, and that idiotic actress/ provacateur of a little Hispanic. Made the press look bad, like what they are, vultures too busy harassing people to remember that they were supposed to get a story.

The best news coverage was Dave Bryant of KCAL 9 at the 9p top of hour. He made it known the mayor use to be the darling of media but not anymore. His report stating how Antonio can't have a press conf. without the questions always being about Mirthala. Hey, why hasn't the media shown any photos of Mayor and Mirthala together? Why is she hiding? Newsome's affair coverage lasted a week. Antonio is like the Energizer Bunny that keeps going on. AND Stupid is as Stupid Does. Now Janice Hahn who assaulted a security guard at Century Plaza Hotel 2 years ago wants an investigation. What an embezzle!!! She's the last idiot who should be opening her blonde bimbo mouth. Poor Port Police and regular cops always are the first to get slammed for doing their job. Little spanish reporter was told to keep back but like the vultures they are tried to run to get a story. She got what was coming to her. BOYCOT BOYCOTT BOYCOTT TELEMUNDO AND NBC ADVERTISERS. POWER OF THE PEOPLE

The smart thing to do was to open the damn pool at Miguel Contreras but dumb ass Antonio thinks they should bus poor kids across the city to go swimming. He must be as dumb as he looks.

....Mayor takes steps to cool off pool dispute...Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa took the plunge Friday, jumping into a swimming pool dispute that has pitted residents of a low-income neighborhood against school and parks officials.

Starting today, the mayor's office will provide vans to take youngsters from 3rd Street's Miguel Contreras Learning Center, where a closed pool is at the center of the dispute, to pools at Griffith and Glassell parks. Vehicles will leave at 12:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. from the Bixel Avenue side of the campus, a mayor's spokesman said.

Right, because some woman DEMANDS it (no doubt from the illegal community) the city should make available a pool that is not set up for public use either in the facilities it offers or in the way the pool is designed - no doubt so some "accidents" can occur and allow some more illegals to sue the City for a bundle!!

So now, instead, the brilliant "mayor" is going to have the City PAY to bus them to a different pool and take on added potential liability in the transportation process. Also, are they going to allow kids on those buses without an adult along with them?

Brilliant all the way around just to cowtow to a bunch of illegals making demands?

Every time this "mayor" opens his mouth or does anything all he ever does is provide more reasons to get rid of him as quickly as possible!

It's Azteca tv that should be boycotted, not just Telemundo.

As for Hahn demanding an investigtion I told you so earlier: Bitter Bernie, Hahn the whacko, trying to out-do the Hispanics in kissing butt to the Mexicans (especially powerful hotel unions, w/ her initiatives for LAX-area hotel workers), and then of course, the leftie Hispanics starting with Alarcon, Cardenas, Reyes will jump aboard to blame the cops, like on May 1st.

On Friday there were some 20 "Special events, fees absorbed by the city" on all but a few, and who was the sponsor of all of them?

Hahn the spendthrift: to the tune of over $120K worth on one day, including stupid things like block parties for one block, %6,000 K...

Aren't the people in her district educated enough to get rid of her?

RE: Hahn bashing the cops: It was yesterday on prev. thread, 8/3 6:27 p that I predicted Hahn, Bitter Bernie and Alarcon -- followed happily by the other Hispanics -- would promptly turn this into a civil rights violation by the cops and demand an investigation.

This brainless mob is clearly exasperating Bratton, with their anti- cop attitude, and provincial refusal to understand how important it is to fund some cops for the anti-terrorism unit -- something the reporters and officials in NYC all marvel at.

We're a world class city with rubes from the Valley, dregs from the Hahn dynasty and Mexicans who cater to illegals, sucking us dry.

6:35 a.m.: sorry, you're wrong about how they should have opened the Contreras school pool to the mob of illegal taco vendors and other motley screamers who seem to determine the course of the city these days. It's an Olympic swimmers' pool with no shallow end for kids, and these poor Mexican adults can't swim, either.

If LAUSD needs to make every pool open to the public, they should have been designed that way. That design and policy decision was made way, way, way before AV came along, so if you're going to blame someone blame Marlene Kanter and her fellow geniuses who never wasted a chance to make a wrong decision.

But I'm also ticked off at the money it will take to bus this mob of motley illegals, who could just as easily have taken existing buses without bleeding us of tens of thousands of bucks to haul their illegal, illiterate behinds.

Villaraigosa, a Los Angeles native who dropped out of high school before graduating from the University of California at Los Angeles, collected more campaign cash during the race. The challenger raised about $3.7 million compared with Hahn's $1.44 million as of May 11, according to filings with the City Ethics Commission.

Among Villaraigosa's donors were Walt Disney Co. Chief Executive Michael Eisner, media billionaire Haim Saban and Frank Biondi, senior managing director of WaterView Advisors and former Viacom Inc. chief executive officer. The donors, who gave the maximum of $1,000, declined to comment on the race.

`About the Money'

``This is more about the money,'' City Councilman Eric Garcetti said at a party for Hahn supporters at Club Element in Hollywood before Villaraigosa claimed victory. ``Mayor Hahn hasn't had the money and money is what shows up on the television and in people's mailboxes.''

6:17 am: Your post mangles the facts so badly I don't know where to start.

First of all, the "media" has shown all the pics that they have of Salinas and the Mayor together. Do you have any you want to share?

Second, Hahn did not assault a security guard at the Century Plaza Hotel.

The incident happened at a hotel on Century Blvd. near LAX and involved a large group of hotel workers and activists trying to get into to see the hotel manager.

A "sue-happy" guard claimed that in the melee, Hahn pushed him (video contradicted that) and he wanted to sue her. The claims were never proven and the case was either dropped or is still in litigation.

Poor Port Police and regular cops? Please.

Now that he's been mayor for awhile, it's clear that the Villaraigosa experiment has failed.

He does not have the intellectual depth, honesty, or the personal integrity necessary to run the second largest city in the U.S.

He has no credibility and has lost the trust of Angelenoes. Villaraigosa must save the city further embarrassment and resign immediately.

Antonia Villaraigosa- Moving On

Yesterday, LA Mayor, Antonio Villaraigosa appeared at the Port of Los Angeles in San Pedro as part of his great pothole tour, this time to announce that the Target chain was implementing the use of 100 new cargo trucks using cleaner burning natural gas. (Really! I'm not making this up, folks.) Unfortunately, as usual, the assembled reporters had no interest in this topic and again peppered His Honor with questions about his paramour, Telemundo reporter, Mirthala Salinas. The timing was exquisite since Telemundo had just announced a 2-month suspension of Salinas, coupled with the transfers and suspensions of three of Salinas' supervisors (who had known about the affair).

As is his wont, Villaraigosa evaded any questions about Salinas, trying to bring the subject back to the clean air trucks that interested nobody. During his tap dance, Villraigosa repeatedly reminded the press that "it was time to move on", a favorite line of the Democrats during the Clinton-Lewinsky affair.

Finally, as Villaraigosa retreated to his car, covered by a phalanx of Port Authority Police, reporters tried to follow the mayor to continue their questions. As police blocked their route, one reporter, Alicia Unger of Azteca America, tried to slip between a couple of cargo containers to avoid the security and get closer to the mayor. At this point, she was slammed into a cargo container by a burly plain-clothes Port Authority sergeant in sun glasses named Kevin
Mc Closkey. (Talk about a name right out of central casting. Say, wasn't he the same New York PD cop who roughed up Al Pacino in Godfather I?) Anyway, as they say in Spinland, Villaraigosa succeeded in "moving on" right back to the temporary safety of City Hall.

Meanwhile, what will eventually happen to Salinas' career is anyone's guess now that Telemundo has concluded that serious professional guidelines were violated by her and her bosses. Much like Clinton, however, Villaraigosa skates merrily along, from pothole to clean-air trucks, while those he comes in contact with go down life's toilet.

10:02 a.m.: Who cares about what Telemundo, Azteca and the other Spanish press shows? They are a fifth column here in the U S, with an agenda of furthering Mexico's and Mexicans' ambitions to take over L A, turn it into the Aztlan Mexican "homeland" that never did exist outside of their imaginations.

The Mexican elite push their refuse into our city (where taco vendors demand and get rights to bus their motley little hordes to our city pools, because they won't take the bus): they've trashed our schools, hospitals and streets.

But their less obvious tactic is taking over our city via their media, encouraging their slimy Mexican infiltrator "reporters" to provoke confrontations with the cops and to make whitey look bad, so that we'll give up on the city altogether, leave it to their Third- world illiterate, hostile hordes, and then the Mexican elite ccan waltz or cha-cha-cha up from Mexico, to take their rightful place.

They used AV while they thought he was up with this gameplan, but if he's not going to make it easy for them, they can try to push him out along with his white supporters, and push in someone sleazier and totally for sale -- like Nunez.

The Spanish media and non-Mexican media exist in parallel universes.
The Mexican reports and management never pretended to have standards, as exposed by the Telemundo affair and have always been P R machines for the Mexican elite in Mexico.

Thanks to Antonio Watch's earlier link,

there is the smoking gun!

http://video.knbc.com/player/?id=139092

The police line was obviously formed just to delay the reporters from catching up with the departing mayor, not about any restricted area.

When the mayor had walked away far enough and that other walking reporters and cameramen probably couldn't catch the mayor, the police seemed to have given permission to the reporters to go forward then.

That is evidenced by another reporters saying "Let's go" and "Thanks" to the police in the first 3 or 4 seconds of the above video clip. Please check it out again.

Both Alicia Unger, the reporter, and Kevin McCloskey, the port police, were right there. They must both have heard the same thing (that the reporters could move forward now).

The police were actually walking together with the reporters at this point. The police were not blocking the reporters.

It was when Alicia Unger started running, and that Kevin McCloskey might think that she could probably catch up with the major by running, that he shoved her to the container!

It is obvious that the police must have received order to shield the mayor from the reporters after the mayor spoke. These orders would usually come from the mayor's office. Who else would dare?

4:42: BINGO!

That's exactly what happened at the Port yesterday.

Port Police were told to hold the media back just long enough for the Mayor to get a good head start out of there.

Once they thought he was clear the OK was given to the media to move forward.

When Unger, naively hoping she'd still be able to get a question with MAV began to run, that's when Officer McPushy ran after her and pushed her into the container.

Uncalled for and definitely excessive force, considering he weighs over 225 and she comes in at about 100.

To many of the other posters: The personal attacks on Unger's looks and accent are also unwarranted.

Were those really necessary?

Or is it simply a case of you not having a coherant line of thought or argument to present here?

No matter where you stand, can't you leave the personal attacks out?

Why?

And when you refer to "Mexican Media", do you know the biggest Spanish-language network in the country, UNIVISION was owned for decades by Jerry Perenchio who is NOT Mexican or even Hispanic for that matter?

Univision is now owned by Jewish-Egyptian billionaire Haim Saban.

Telemundo, the second largest Spanish language is owned by GE/NBC/Universal -- not Mexican last time I checked.

KRCA Channel 62 is owned by the Lieberman Family.

Azteca America is an off-shoot of TV Azteca in Mexico but employees hundreds of "non-Mexicans" in the US.
