Unscrambled Eggs

Yesterday, Mayor Villaraigosa's request to proceed with his takeover of a few schools during appeal was rejected, of course, by the judge who ruled the takeover unconstitutional. This was the right ruling because, under the law of preliminary and permanent injunctions, you can't unscramble an egg. The courts will accordingly preserve the status quo, as the ancient Romans called it, until the litigation is resolved.

Can't wait to hear this year's "State of the City" address. Remember last year's? "I'm not going to discuss the state of the city, but rather, what I'd like to happen in the future."

Let me see if I understand the concept and you tell me if I'm right or if I'm wrong.

I am a general in the United States Army, and I want to station my troops in your house. Come in, throw you out and have my people occupy your house, while not allowing you to have any say in the matter. Unless I am mistaken, that is unconstitutional. So I go to a judge to have the matter decided, and the judge rules that yes, what I want to do is unconstitutional.

I'm not happy with that and want to appeal, so I go back to the judge and I ask if I can be allowed to kick you out of your house (for the time being) and station my troops there until my appeal(s) are exhausted. Depending upon whether or not the Supreme Court rules in my favor, I'm still going to go ahead and garrison my troops there. After all, you have a nice house.

So the judge says NO, you cannot garrison your troops in that house during the appeal process because it's UNCONSTITUTIONAL. But I'm still going to go ahead and try to get you thrown out of your house so I can put my troops in there because I am a general in the United States Army and what the general wants, the general gets!

This is rather important. My son has a US History quiz next week (he's an LAUSD student) and I want to make sure that I understand the concept; this is not my country of origin. I immigrated from Chad.

Bonjour Walter and welcome back. I missed your threads here on Mayor Sam. It's nice to read coherent, well-constructed paragraphs as well (intentional dig at Zuma Dogg).

AV with his 1.4 GPA has enough to do without meddling in LAUSD. He should focus on getting rid of the gang scum, sanctuary city policies, and Special Order 40 !

When does Mecha Guy give the "State of the City" edict?

He might as well give it entirely in Spanish because the Mexicans are the only ones who will listen to his B.S.

I wonder what backdrop he will use this time! I don't think ANY school will allow him to exploit their students anymore!

Maybe he can use the Welfare headquarters downtown; or maybe the Office of Immigrant Affairs; or maybe Olvera Street; or maybe the Maywood City Hall; or maybe Pizza Patron in Maywood; or maybe he will just shut his effing mouth!

Well all know that Matt Szabo is busy trying to figure out what lies and made up accomplishments Antonio can say. He'll take credit for the crime drop, he's trying to plant 1 mil trees, he's filled potholes, he gave us the Xmas gift of 50 traffic controllers at malls and that's it. Then Antonio will have all the kiss ass morons on city council there to show support even though they all say behind closed doors he's been the worst mayor this city has elected.

Walter,

Welcome back from the "LAND of SURRENDER". While you were gone, "HIS POLLONESS has been having a hard time with a certain judge. With the upcoming School Board elections, can we say that if the "POLLONISTAS" fail in their attempt to takeover the LAUSD. That this would be the "WATERLOO" of "POLLORAIGOSA"'s political aspirations ?

The mayor is bringing communism to LA. He doesn't care about the law, hell he doesn't even know the law and how it works because he can't even pass the bar.

The city cannot take over the LAUSD, we have elected officials who the people elected to oversee and direct the superintendent to run the district. The legislature knew this when they voted, they just did what he wanted so they could stay on his good side. They know his connections and the mob (the thugs) he runs with and didn't want the problems that come with going against him.

The mayor hasn't accomplished anything for the city, and now he wants to under-mind the school board making the residents believe he will do something. Come on, we all know better.

What is your opinion if the supreme court overturns the initial decision and the mayor wins all the seats up in the school board race.

Do you then say that every analysis you and your crazy bloggers have tried to peg on the mayor is 100% wrong?

Do you then go on an all blue diet consisting of compassion, tolerance and maybe reading a book above a 4th grade level?

curious square of common sense

If the mayor gets all his candidates elected, then I think everyone should start to consider looking for alternative education opportunities for their kids... Or, maybe they would like him to be a role model: kicked out of one high school, gets into fights, fails Bar exam four times???

The correct answer is . . . get your kid out of the LAUSD immediately, even if you have to move to another state. I was a TEACHER, and a kid attacked ME! She bit and bruised me because I wouldn't let her back into the classroom, especially since she "explained" she was going to break my laptop if I let her. But they "punished" her: she got to stay home two extra days during Thanksgiving Week. If that's what happens for an attack on a teacher, do you think your child is safe? No. So get those kids out.

Thank you for welcoming me back. However, I've got to stick up for France, which is a fantastic country. I don't understand why everyone refers to the French surrendering. In WW II, Germany was right next door; had an overwhelming military force; and was able to side-step the extensive (and expensive) Maginot Line. I don't know what more France could have done. And, heck, we're being overwhelmed by an UNARMED invasion force from the country next door. So please give France a little more respect, and much more love. Merci!
