Pathetic! Appointed West Hollywood Council Member Shamefully Invokes Tuscon Shootings

Lindsay Horvath is one of those overly ambitious, Gen Y, not yet ready for prime time politicians that was appointed to a West Hollywood City Council seat when the previous member passed away.  Before that she was a major player in local Democratic Party organizations such as NOW as well as blogger for the recently sold to AOL, Huffington Post.

Many within the City opposed Horvath's appointment, urging instead a special election to fill the seat of longtime member Sal Guarriello upon his death.  Horvath, a politically connected Notre Dame grad, has been in the seat since 2009 and now must run for a full term, facing the voters for the first time.


Horvath is falling on a typical Liberal Democrat tactic of polarizing the opposition through demonization.  In this case, as reported by another great LA Weekly story by Patrick Range McDonald Horvath is invoking the shooting of Representative Gabrielle Giffords and comparing her opponents to lone wacko shooter Jared Lougner.  In a recent debate in WeHo Horvath said "We've seen the effects of what happens when you have polarizing, opposite opinions with the shootings in Arizona."

Now before any of you Demmys out there get riled up that we're stirring up Republican sexist women brown skinned hating agitprop here, let's examine who Horvath's has in her crosshairs:

Progressive, anti-development, pro-green left leaning candidates such as Mito Aviles.  Mito regularly protests the pro-developer policies championed by Horvath and her svengali, Councilmember Abbe Land.  Mito is calling for things like less development, more rent control and community gardens.

Doesn't sound like a Republican gun nut to me!
