Parke, "Peace for our time" in CD 14 Campaign? Your latest mailer contradicts that notion. Plus Huizar returns dubious MTA contributions
Parke Skelton may be the reigning progressive political facade crafter of Los Angeles politics, but when it comes to political diplomacy, he ranks right up there with 20th Century Progressive British Statesman Neville Chamberlain in falsely proclaiming "peace for our time" or the time remaining in the CD 14 Campaign. But then Chamberlain was looking for actual peace while Skelton was blowing peace smoke to hide his latest political maneuverings.
More after the bloggin leap.
Skelton wasted no time in finding a plan to lower the heated vitriol that has dominated the recent campaign theatrics. first, place a call to the opposition campaign and offer a political truce. Second, don't wait for the response and signed "peace document" to announce to the likes of Downtown News "Scribe of Wit" Jon Regardie, Ron Kaye and "The Bloggin Maven of Choice", that both campaigns had made peace and pledge to keep the campaigning positive as note to Regardie.
Parke Skelton, a member of Huizar's campaign, wrote to say: "Both candidates agreed to forgo all negative campaigning for the duration of the campaign. (yeah, since when? At least Chamberlain came home to England with a signed document)
"This is not a 'momentary' cease fire. It is a truce". (sounds so Trujilloesque but I digress)
"Also: Trujillo was terminated literally within minutes of me seeing the email for the first time on Sunday morning -- long before it 'became public. " (Strange, Trujillo told The Bloggin Maven that he resigned, Plus its scary to note that Parke lefted "Chief Parker" unattended for 48 freakin hours with the reigns of Huizzy's Campaign).
But stop the presses or bloggin postings!! Where is the signed document Parke?
The Rudy Martinez Campaign release this statement with their "treaty conditions" around the time many in CD 14 were receiving Parke's latest hit piece on the "Badge issue".
It is in the best interest of the voters and residents of CD 14 that the City Council campaign stay focused on the issues that are important to residents and not on personal attacks.
Thereby, the two candidates for Los Angeles City Council District 14, Rudy Martinez and Jose Huizar will sign the following clean campaign pledge. In the spirit of this agreement, personal attacks are defined as any campaign communication which attacks the other candidates:
• Immediate or extended family.
• Raises questions about the other candidate’s personal life.
• Use of words or images that imply violent threats.
• Question the motivation or goodwill of the candidate’s in either running for office or in performing their public duties.
• Brings up law suits and business disputes not related to public policy issues.
• If any independent expenditure on behalf of either campaign attacks either of the candidates, the candidate shall hold the right to respond to those attacks.
...... and did Parke/Huizzy agree to this? no need to answer.
Meanwhile, some recent facts about Councilman Huizar have come to light.
First, Councilman Huizar sure loves fine dining and nights out clubing on the taxpayer dime.
Eastside Councilman Jose Huizar spent $2,845 for 13 visits to Pacific Dining Car, and $259 for a night at Elevate Lounge, a 21st-floor, DJ-driven club downtown.
And again from the LA Weekly and us at Mayor Sam, something about returning dubious MTA contributions.
In another example this week, L.A. Councilman Jose Huizar agreed to return $1,500 in contributions from two towing companies that have bid for MTA contracts. He did so after he was asked about them by the Weekly. Those contributions were discovered not by the MTA, but by the campaign of Rudy Martinez, Huizar’s opponent in the March 8 City Council race.
Parke responses,
“These are relatively minor things that don’t get caught,” Skelton says. “When they figure it out, people return the contributions and it’s no big deal.”
Kinda like a email one doesn't see for 48 hours and a positive campaign pledge without documentation.
Your thoughts..............

Oh fah, you whining nitpicker.
"...note that Parke lefted "Chief Parker" unattended for 48 freakin hours with the reigns of Huizzy's Campaign)."
Turd-jillo was Huizar's CAMPAIGN MANAGER, of record. HE ran the day-to-day, HE was listed as the main contact for media. HE arranged Huizar's campaign schedule.
Skelton wasn't even at the first two community debates.
Skelton is a part-time consultant to the campaign, who probably deals with the big issues and major talking points. He wasn't really Trujillo's BOSS (and even if he had been, does your boss look over your should all day long?)
(Bad example - he probably has to).
Yeah, now Parke's making regular pronouncements - since Mikie was canned - but before that is was mostly Trujillo dealing with the press enquires.
You could tell by who was being quoted.
The SMALLER the issues, the HARDER you stir, and you just look pretty silly straining at gnats like this.
(BTW, the Weekly's article on the big spending councilmembers makes it pretty clear HUIZAR was NOT one of the worst - by a LONG shot.
Four others (that you're NOT trashing here - of course) spent more than half the $850,000, and Huizar was in the bottom half of the list.
To REALLY try to make a Huizar issue out of that one, you gotta be grading on some sort of "who do I hate most" curve!

MORE Rid Sput warped logic:
Huizar's people not catching that he got contributions in his early weeks on the board totalling $1,500 from two companies that he had yet to have any dealings with on behalf of MTA - is DUBIOUS!
... and is apparently MUCH worse, (in the weird according to Scott Johnson)...
Than Rudy RICH taking FOUR TIMES AS MUCH from an oh so obviously stinky money laundering scam.
A set-up SO plain-to-see that lay commenters here at Mayor Sam's (comparing it to the Jimmy Hahn/Fleishman Hillard set-up)- caught it WEEKS before ETHICS contacted Martinez and said, "hey, didn't you notice how hinky that looked?" (After which he "voluntarily" returned them... HA!"
I mean, COME ON... 12 employees of a firm run by an enemy of Huizars'... where NONE of the other 11 employees even LIVE in CD-14? ALL for the MAXIMUM contribution allowed?
How about I go and double-check what "dubious" means, and you look up the word "HYPOCRITICAL"?

Love the Rudy proposal (big f%&* laugh)
Finally some one is taking on the corrupt politicos of the east side who is more than their match in this battle of wits.
Keep it up Rudy.
Hit them hard Rudy, hit them hard.

Yeah, Rudy's "rules" conveniently leave out the areas where's he darkest and dirtiest! Where his actual character flaws are the most obvious.
There's that "transparency" again. Yeah, we SEE right through this one.
He KNOWS the skeletons Parke SKELETON must have on him, and is hiding behind a white flag.
Pretty typical of someone to want a truce, when the only dirty little secrets left for anyone to reveal are HIS!
If he'd really wanted to just talk "issues", he'd have tried to figure out what they are, by now.
More than a month on the public circuit, and he's still answering every question with bumper-sticker slogans that mean nothing to the district.
He could be running for Pacoima dog catcher and still be using the same banal generalities.

More stupid general media reporting...
Exactly WHAT council district in L.A. is the Associated Press referring to, when it writes a headline like:
"Normally quiet council race in LA turns ugly"
NORMALLY QUIET?
TURNS ugly?
Huizar-Parra
Pacheco-Huizar (and the 7 dwarves)
Villaraigosa-Pacheco
Pacheco_Griego
Media dopes! Quiet? Not in THIS century.

Man, you'd think Parke Skelton was running for City Council, the way this blog fixates on him.
He's really only an issue around campaign time - doing a job they pay him for.
If it wasn't him, it'd be someone else, and in 4 weeks, he's gone for anotehr 2-4 years.
If the candidates gotta stick to the "issues" now, maybe the candidates' critics ought to at least stick to the candidates?

I'm sure Eric Hacopian is looking over George Gonzalez's shoulder every moment of their campaign, too.
Probably helps him spellcheck e-mails.

SO, Reed Spit, you really want to go with this (word) picture you're building up?
Cuz, if Parke Skeleton is Neville Chamberlain, then who does it stand to reason that he's negotiating with, ummm to achieve "peace in our time...". Rudy Martinez right, so that makes RUDY, um...
WAIT, wait, I know this one, funny name (funnier little mustache), he used to talk about how he'd pulled himself up by his own bootstraps, and, he was going to FIX everything that was wrong with his country (Germany, I think?). Started with a real dedicated little band of very angry people. Hmmm.
Oh SHOOT, I had it right on the tip of my tongue... Abner? (NO!) Aldous? Darn, it hasn't been that many decades since I took World History in high school...
I'll think of it; I'll get back to you. Check by here by morning. I'm sure it'll come to be by then.
HOOOOO, ha!

No truce involving Parke and Hacopian can last very long.

A.J. Duffy Hitman for Mayor
Top officials at UTLA have confirmed outgoing UTLA President, A.J. Duffy, blocked the candidacy of non-Villaraigosa endorsed candidates for LAUSD School Board. Duffy blocked no less than eight candidates in exchange for a lucrative position within the Mayor's pro-charter school organization.

I agree with 5:45.
Parke Skelton must be some kind of most excellent consultant/campaign manager since we only hear about him during the elections and it's always bad, yet his candidates always win. So?
If I were going to run, I would be begging him to run my campaign. And bringing Trujillo with him too.

On Tuesday evening Huizar and Martinez agreed to run positive campaigns. By Wednesday evening Martinez's campaign had backed away from that commitment and offered a substitute pledge that allowed them to attack Huizar but prohibited Huizar for attacking him.
Why? because Martinez can not possibly win without attacking. Hacopian knows that even if Rudy doesn't.
