Los Angeles Politics Hotsheet for Thursday

Egads! The well heeled liberal suburbanites of Beverly Hills (you remember - swimmin' pools, movie stars) are aghast that choo-choo trains with hordes of non-Whites aboard will run underneath their mansions as part of the route of Mayor V's Subway to the Sea. Joining the fight to make sure no such travesty happens is none other than County Stupidvisor Zev Yaroslavsky.  Yikes.

The folks at that Griffith Park blog have something in common with Phil Jennerjahn.  They don't like City Council candidate Tomas O'Grady.  That alone may give any CD4 resident pause to take a look at O'Grady.

The City of Vernon has enough trouble being part of a collection of small, corrupt cities in Eastern LA County but there's an even bigger threat: Goofy Clowncilwoman Janice Hahn wants Los Angeles to annex the tiny city (with only 91 residents, all City of Vernon employees) that is rich in commerce and more taxes.  Uh, no.

We ran this yesterday - Senator Barbara Boxer is illegally attempting to use LAUSD teachers to recruit students to work for her beleaguered campaign.  Gay Patriot and Flap the Blogging Dentist have both picked up the story.  This is nothing new however.  I remember nearly 30 years ago when I was in the 12th grade our class being recruited by our teacher to attend an event for Jerry Brown, then running for the US Senate (he lost that race when everyone thought he was going to win).

Democrats and Republicans are finding comfort in various polls showing their candidates up and their opponents down but we've seen in past cycles that polls released just prior to election day don't always match the results.  Speaking of Flap, as he points out, most of those polls are based on widely varying projections for turnout.  So with garbage turnout models most of these polls are meaningless.

Oh I forgot, there are no Republicans in Beverly Hills. How silly of me.

Tomas O'Grady WILL win the CD4 election PROVIDED that Phil Jennerjahn is the only other candidate.

There is such a body of childish, emotionally immature behavior of Phil's, that I doubt he could ever come in anything other than last place, even head to head with Antonio on his worst day.

I'm gonna love watching Obama flop around like a fish on the dock for the next two years.

Too bad for Hillary. The country isn't going to have another Dem president for at least a generation, provided that the Republicans don't nominate Sarah Palin. The middle will never go for her.

Joe,

Do you agree that it is very UN-presidential for Obama to be referring to those who dislike him to be "enemies?"

He's making a huge mistake disenfranchising the BULK of the American people.

I know you rarely answer questions, but what do you think of the president being so unpresidential this way?

Wise? Unwise?

Higby, Gamblin' Phil Jennerjahn isn't taking comments on his blog like you suggested, but PLEASE don't allow him back here and PLEASE don't refer to him in any more hot sheets.

Eventually this likely compulsive gambler will hopefully run out of money and go back to Waukesha, WI to work for mommy's family company.

Excellent News to Report

Higby, can you make a separate post about this?

ALLAN PARRACHINI, the DICKHEAD spokesman for the LA County Court System has "been placed on indefinite administrative leve."

That's what they usually do before some DICKHEAD is fired for misconduct.

Two notes on Allan Parrachini

He ALWAYS tried to make announcements about HIMSELF rather than the court matter. You could always see the GLINT in his eyes when announcing something. He clearly had a hard-on to be an actor, but wound up with a PEACHY gig that he didn't appreciate. And now he's going to lose it.

Yes, Allan Parrachini is a DICKHEAD.

Here is the LA Times article
http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/lanow/2010/10/la-superior-court-spokesman-placed-on-indefinite-administrative-leave.html

But better than that, do you remember the Jimmy Kimmel foil who SPOILED Parrachini's announcement on a Paris Hilton matter?

Look at the expression on this DICKHEAD's face when interrupted.

Funny as all shit.

You're right. There is no place in politics for openness and honestly. Obama shouldn't acknowledge that he has political enemies. He should assume that everyone supports him, and just do like Richard Nixon and privately maintain an enemies list.

The Tea Party represents more of what I want than any other party. I've mostly voted Dem in my life, but I was young and stupid.

I will quote DEM Gavin Newsom, "WE'RE GOING CONSERVATIVE WHETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT!"

Suck it, Joe B!

Obama had his chances and focused on Obamacare instead of the economy. It's ALWAYS about the economy.

If Obama had a fucking clue about anything, he'd have retained the House and Senate.

He didn't.

He blew it.

Suck it.

update on the Allan Parrachini situation.

it's widely believed that he was relieved of his public information duties because he allegedly leaked information to TMZ.

allan parrachini always had a boner to be famous. and by palling around with media outlets, he felt, acted and apparently benefitted by sacrificing privacy matters of the court.

i hope that they throw his middle aged ass in jail.

No, Obama hasn't blown it. He's far more intelligent and thankfully---progressive---than Bush and Cheney ever were.
Cheney---are you nostalgic about HIM? Are you nostalgic about Bush's war in Iraq, which killed 4,000 Americans and probably over a million innocent Iraqis. Yes, they were innocent, but Bush and Cheney wanted the oil fields in the country. When Obama said the war in Iraq was over---there was NO protest from conservatives. I didn't hear Bill O'Reilly or Sean Hannity saying "NO...we have to keep fighting in Iraq." Even those two clowns know that the war in Iraq was a fraud and a useless mistake, yet they won't admit it. So yeah, keep defending your Republicans. And why don't YOU Republicans defend the now-defunct war in Iraq? You all want it to go away---you want to pretend it never happened, even though so many people died because of it.

All you conservatives who were enthusiastic and thrilled about the war in Iraq back in 2002 and 2003---REFUSE to talk about it now! You are all a bunch of weenie wimps. You won't admit that Bush's war in Iraq was a tragic mistake. You want to pretend it never "happened." Hey you conservatives.....go visit your local veterans' hospital and see for yourself what the useless war in Iraq did to thousands of young men. It destroyed their lives.

I am sorry to tell you this 1:22 AND 1:27 is that the FACT of whether Obama is up to the task or not will be determined on Tuesday.

It won't be conjecture.

The people will have voiced their opinion.

Obama had ALL of the chips in HIS corner + 2 whole years. "Noone" expected him to fix everything. The thing the vote will judge is whether he IS what he CAMPAIGNED to be.

Remember his saying that he would "sit down with world leaders to resolve our differences"? Did he do that? No. In fact, Iran now has nukes. Venezuela seized a Fortune 500 company yesterday and -- poof -- it's gone if you invested in it. And Israel is in greater danger than ever.

Did Obama put jobs and the economy ahead of healthcare reform? No, he didn't. That was his largest mistake.

He went on six vacations in 19 months. He's entitled to, but that shows people he is not focusing where he needs to focus. Jobs, not golf.

How did Obama do on "plugging the damn hole" in the Gulf of Mexico? HIS ADMINISTRATION GAVE A SAFETY WARD TO THE RIG JUST MONTHS BEFORE THE EXPLOSION!

How about that TRILLION in wasted stimulus. Paul Krugman thinks it wsn't enough, and conservatives think it was unwisely used. That is, "NOONE" was happy with him on this.

Oh, how about this DIVISIVE behavior of his? Like calling AMERICANS who disagree with him "our ENEMIES."

I have news for you. We're all Americans and the President should not refer to ANY of us as ENEMIES.

This and so much more will be judged on Tuesday. Fact, not conjecture.

The people will speak. Oh, and blaming it all on W has worn thin on America. WATCH THE SUNDAY SHOWS, and even CHRISTIANNE AMANPOUR says so.

Game
Set
Match

I would take COMPULSIVE GAMBLER PHIL JENNERJAHN over Obama, and Phil is a fucking retard!

1:22, & 1:27 Obama had control of both houses of congress, he could of passed ANYTHING he wanted, but focused on his socialized medicine scheme instead of the economy and jobs. Obama has only himself to blame for the utter revolt over his policies.

It's over for Obama?

Bill Clinton lost the congress in 1994, still won reelection in 1996. Senate does not look to go Republican, according to the same polls indicating that congress will. So impeachment's not even a pipe dream. Republican congress with a Democratic Senate and White House is the same government we had in the late 1990s when this country saw its most prosperous economy in its history. Of course I'm not naive enough to think there'll be a repeat, but if Obama's opposition wants to draw parallels to Jimmy Carter, I figured I'd just use some historical perspective that's a little more current. Happy Halloween.
